Just one more... Has he ever won a major tournament? If so what was it like at the after party? If no, then do you think he ever will?

Have you ever discussed the misogynistic attitudes in and around football with your husband/fellow wags?

From chants like ‘does she take it up the arse?’ To the prevalence of sexual assault/rape and the idea that all young girls are ‘gagging for’ footballers’ cocks.

What’s your opinion about this?

This thread is fascinating.

What would you be doing now if you'd never met your husband or married a footballer ?

Do your old friends treat you differently now you're a footballer's wife and very rich ?
Do you get a lot of people asking you for money or expecting you to pay for things ?

I've not heard any chants like that thank goodness. I'm also unsure if rape/sexual assault is really more prevalent in football than in other walks of life.
Racism is certainly still around. Homophobic and misogynistic attitudes yup. There's a lot of work to be done.

Gagging for footballers cocks though? Can't say I've ever heard people talk about 'young girls' like that. Although, I'm never in the changing room so who knows....

I'd be so high up in my previous career that I'd be earning (nearly ) as much as he does! Grin. Would still be single though as no time for a man! Haha

    A) Nope! I'm still the same old me, just with better handbags. We joke about it and they keep me in check if I get a bit too diva (omgooossssshhh they have sold out of business class I'll have to fly premium eco!)

    B) yes. Not the old friends. But some new acquaintances I meet assume the tab is on me/us

Has your husband experienced it personally (not trying to out you at all but is he white)?

Does your DH get any kind of pension?

Do you own any properties overseas?

do the clubs offer their player's financial advice ?

I always wonder if they are helped to invest their money wisely as their careers are relatively short.

He hasn't experienced it personally but he's told me stories which are unbelievable in this day and age. Also a friend has experienced racism herself, being a white woman with a mixed race child, from her DP's own teams fans. Ridiculous. Angry

Not enough imo. Lots of players get into trouble as they get used to that high income and then when it dries up it's such a shock. Also lots have gambling problems habits which is a slippery slope.

Do you and/or your DH actually manage his salary, investments etc. or do you leave that to other people? Do you feel conscious of having to prepare financially for a long post-football life, or do you just think 'Shall I gold-plate my Mini? Hell yeah!'

Will you go back to work when he retires?

Will he make a good TV pundit?

I guess I was trying to ask if you had discussed, for example, the ched Evans case with your husband?

Or if you had any insight into whether or not ‘group sex’ with young women was a normal thing for footballers to do. As CE suggested that it was in his statement to the police.

Have you ever read Anna Krien’s Night Games?

How old is your DH? And how long do you think he has left in the game?

Does your DH feel a lot of pressure to keep up his skills or is he quite relaxed about it all ?

Is it a high pressure environment ?

Do the players take it out on each other if they have a bad match or someone on the team messes up ?
