Retired lap dancer- ask me anything

It’s not something I tell new people I meet that for 10 years I used to be a very successful lap dancer. I have a very different career now but often reminisce about my secret lap dancing past, always with fond memories!
I think it’s still something that is frowned upon by many and in my view I think that’s largely down to being misunderstood. So if any of you have any questions I will answer them and hopefully give you some interesting insight into the secret world of lap dancing! Ask away.

Did you have to have a killer figure to do it, or was there a whole range of shapes and sizes?

yourprivatedancerEX · 26/06/2018 07:30

Hilda baker the more experienced girls taught the newer girls. The pole took a while to learn- that was hard!

As for having the nerve, it was nerve wracking at first but you get the hang of it!

Ready to talk not that I ever knew of. And I would have reported it if I had suspected anything of the sort.

Did you get many women in the clubs, and if you did, what did you think of them?

tenbob · 26/06/2018 07:35

(Women customers obvs)

Rainbowqueeen · 26/06/2018 07:37

Was there much preparation involved eg learning routiness, choosing music or do you just wing it to whatever music they put on?

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 26/06/2018 07:38

Morning!
How did you get into dancing as a job?
Did you initially plan a short stint, that became a long stint?
How easy was it to return to regular employment, with lower money, diff hours?id imagine the transition to be difficult. Or did you find it naturally came to an end
There are threads on mn about women’s partners attending lap dancing club.often the advice given is leave him, he’s disrespectful etc. What’s your thoughts?is it a deal breaker if a partner attends a club?

yourprivatedancerEX · 26/06/2018 07:38

Wishfulmakeupping not much as I worked at clubs far enough away so that it was unlikely for people I knew to come in. Although I did have a similar experience when a stag do came in and people I knew from school were on it. I just told the manager I knew them and hid upstairs eating chocolate for a bit until they left!

What is your honest opinion of the men who pay for lap dances?

  • for single men
  • for men in relationships/stag dos
  • for married men or men with families and children whose wives and girlfriends would most likely be very upset with or totally disapprove of them doing it
LipstickHandbagCoffee · 26/06/2018 07:43

Is there camaraderie amongst the women?youve said the experienced dancers tutor the new lassies, is there a bond amongst workers?

What life advice from this would you share with us other women?

What was your best make up tips, I mean what mascara and Lippie can withstand heat, dancing for hours?

HulaMelody · 26/06/2018 07:45

Did you feel under pressure to change your body in any way ie do a lot of dancers get cosmetic surgery?

NobodysMot · 26/06/2018 07:46

Interesting! Glad your stamp is paid for the period you worked there.

I second the questiin 'did you ever see anybody you knew?'

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 26/06/2018 07:54

If you were self employed, could you offset waxing and tanning against tax? (assuming that you did wax and tan)

How hard is to stay engaged and ‘look interested’ when talking to some utterly boring customers?

Jesuisleloup · 26/06/2018 07:56

A couple from me ...
How did you get rid of your hair ?

What kind of background were the girls from ?

yourprivatedancerEX · 26/06/2018 08:00

Qu1rky depends what you mean by killer figure I suppose. The girls were all different body shapes and sizes, but all looked after themselves well and each beautiful in different ways. In fact one of the things I learned from dancing was that there is no one single definition of beautiful. I learned to stop comparing myself to other women and to stop being envious of other women because every one was beautiful and everyone was different. I don’t know if I’ve explained that very well!

Tenbob yes women occasionally came in, sometimes with partners and sometimes alone. I didn’t think anything, I would chat to them the same way I would chat to the male customers. I did many dances for women.

What did your family think about what you did for a living?

I can imagine that the older generation would have been disapproving?

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 26/06/2018 08:02

Did you ever have any regular customers who ‘fell in love’ with you? How did you deal with that?

yourprivatedancerEX · 26/06/2018 08:06

Rainbow queen yes there was a lot of preparation! You had to do several stage shows a night, each to a different track which meant lots of practise beforehand. Plus you couldn’t always just stick to the same ones because at different clubs other girls might be using the same track so you would have to have a back up. Plus you’d have different outfits too for your stage shows so would have to plan that too.

It was great fun though and kept you very fit!

How close do you actually get during a dance? I’ve heard stories of dancers putting the cusfomer’s face between their boobs, or the dancer has their vagina mm’s from their face etc.

I got into it because I met somebody that did it and I was fascinated by her lifestyle and how glamourous she was! She got me a trial at a club she worked at and my first ever shift I made £200 and was hooked!

You’re right it wasn’t an easy transition after so many years of working for myself, choosing my own hours and working as much or as little as I needed to depending on whether I needed/wanted the money or not. That’s why to begin with I kept the dancing up on a weekend whilst doing my day job through the week then eventually it naturally ended.

But yes the early mornings, working for someone else and not earning as much definitely took some getting used to!

It feels like another life time ago now that I’ve been out of it so long.
