Our verdict

The SnüzPod 5 is a stylish, well-made bedside crib that delivers on comfort, safety and sleep performance. It’s particularly strong on build quality and design, and our tester's baby settled well in it from day one. While the co-sleeping height adjustability may not suit every bed setup, it remains a solid choice for parents looking for a high-quality bedside crib from a trusted brand with a modern look and feel.

What is the SnüzPod 5?

The SnüzPod 5 is the latest version of Snüz’s bestselling bedside crib, designed to keep your newborn close for night-time feeds and reassurance. It’s a 3-in-1 crib that can be used as a standalone cot, a bedside co-sleeper with zip-down wall, or as a portable bassinet. The SnüzPod has been a familiar sight in many bedrooms since it first launched, and this fifth-generation update brings a larger sleep space, improved mesh panels for breathability and visibility, and a lighter, more portable design.

The SnüzPod 5 has an RRP of £200 and is available in a wide range of contemporary colours, including Walnut, Mocha, Sage, Graphite, Natural, Pebble, Terracotta, Cashmere and White.

How we tested the SnüzPod 5

Our tester Holly used the SnüzPod 5 every night from when her son was just three days old, straight after returning home from hospital. As she explained at the time of writing, "My son has slept in the SnüzPod every night since we came back from hospital (when he was 3 days old). He is now 12 weeks."

As such, she was able to try out the crib over a good testing period across the early newborn stage and into more established sleep patterns.

How easy was the SnüzPod 5 to assemble?

Holly said she found the assembly fairly straightforward. "It was easy enough to put together and the instructions were comprehensive."

How easy is it to use day-to-day?

In day-to-day use during testing, the SnüzPod 5 functioned well as a bedside crib and standalone cot. The zip-down wall makes night-time access easy, particularly for feeds and settling during the night.

You can use it as a standalone cot, a next to me cot, and a portable bassinet. Super handy!

Size, design and features of the SnüzPod 5

The SnüzPod 5 has external dimensions of L97 x W49 x H86.5. One of the key updates to this model is a larger sleep space and mattress compared with the previous version, alongside larger mesh windows. Holly appreciated the mesh fabric, saying it helped the crib feel safe and airy.

Defining features include:

  • Use as a standalone cot, bedside co-sleeper or portable bassinet

  • Zip-down side for co-sleeping

  • Mesh panels for airflow and visibility

  • A sturdy, supportive mattress

Visually, the crib scored highly. Holly described it as looking "minimalist and sleek," fitting well into a modern bedroom without making it feel dominated by baby gear.

Co-sleeping and adjustability

While the SnüzPod 5 is designed as a bedside co-sleeper, this was an area where Holly felt it fell short for her specific setup. She explained, "Unfortunately not, or at least we haven’t figured out how to do this. This is quite a big disadvantage for us as it doesn’t quite feel like co-sleeping due to it." She found that it didn’t adjust to match the height of her bed, meaning it didn’t quite feel like true co-sleeping for her family. This was noted as a significant drawback, as it limited how much she could benefit from the co-sleeping function.

How portable is the SnüzPod 5?

Although the SnüzPod 5 is lighter than previous versions and designed with portability in mind, the tester still found it quite big and heavy to move around the house regularly. She said, "It’s a bit big and heavy to be carrying around our house on the regular so we use a moses basket in our living room." As a result, she preferred to use a Moses basket in the living room and a separate travel cot when going away, rather than relying on the SnüzPod 5 for these purposes.

How well do babies sleep in the SnüzPod 5?

In terms of sleep, the SnüzPod 5 performed well for our tester and her baby. Holly reported that her baby settled easily, saying, "He has always tolerated long stretches of sleep in the SnüzPod 5, only waking up for feeds."

How long can you use the SnüzPod 5?

Like with most newborn cribs, the SnüzPod 5 is intended for use from newborn until a baby is able to sit up unaided and/or is 9 kg. "We'll probably use it until our baby is around four or five months old," explained Holly, "by which time I expect he'll be too big for it."

Value for money

At just under £200, Holly felt the SnüzPod 5 represented good value for money, noting that the quality and durability helped justify the price despite the crib's lack of adjustability.

What are the best features of the SnüzPod 5?

"As well as the mesh sides, I like the fact the SnüzPod works as a standalone cot or co-sleeper (though this would work better if it was the same height as our bed)."
