Housekeeper playing music- aibu?

I live in a large house on a farm. I have a housekeeper who comes in each day between 10-6.

Today I was in the garden and she drove up to the house and parked outside. I could hear her music which annoyed me because I moved to the country for peace and quiet. It wasn't blasting but I don't want to hear any music while I'm outside.

I told her she's not allowed to play music while she's driving on the farm and she seemed a bit upset and was much quieter than normal. I think that might have to do with her personal circumstances because she's currently getting divorced.

Was I being unreasonable?

In the unlikely event that this isn't a reverse, you're a horrible person..but I bet it's a reverse, in which case you're downgraded to just an annoying poster.

Its half term next week that batshit posts are starting already it seems

As usual, half terms are not the same everywhere you know.

bababamama · 22/10/2026 16:51

@HaveANiceFuckingDay

lots of schools are out this week too

Seziah · 22/10/2026 16:52

A couple of minutes 😂. Unless it is scaring the animals I don’t see how this makes any difference to anyone’s life. Nearly as ridiculous as the poster who got annoyed her cleaner was playing music when she while she was out

She had it playing for a couple of minutes while she was gathering her things.

I think she should have turned it off as soon as she stopped the car.

This is definitely a joke thread. Even Hyacinth Bouquet wouldn't be this unreasonable.

Jollygollygosh · 22/10/2026 16:55

😂 yeah sure.

Housekeeper 👍🏻✅
Entitled 👍🏻✅
Over reaching 👍🏻✅
Petty 👍🏻✅

you need to be a bit more subtle

RelievedNoYouTubeMum · 22/10/2026 16:57

This is surely not real. Try harder OP

MyKindHiker · 22/10/2026 16:58

Is this for real or is it a reverse? Surely no one would tell an employee they can't listen to music in their own car?

Ooodelally · 22/10/2026 16:58

Well, aren’t you a delight?
On second thoughts, I don’t think you’re for real… too awful.

a couple of minutes?????? hanging offence!

Honestly OP if this is not a joke then get a grip

kalokagathos · 22/10/2026 17:00

Madness! That’s very weird and rigid behaviour from you! 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Alittlefrustrated · 22/10/2026 17:01

Ha Ha

interestedandsol · 22/10/2026 17:01

I employ a housekeeper and I would never treat her like this. Wtaf

Yep, I don’t believe a word of it

Aliencrispsandolives · 22/10/2026 17:02

Please at least say that it wasn’t Shania Twain?

NoMusicPlease · 22/10/2026 17:02

I'm not troll hunting or posting this as a reverse.

I'm also not posh.

I have very severe migraines and had surgery on my ears recently that's left me extremely sensitive to noise. Not all noise, but certain pitches are agony.

I think I might have been a bitch to her and she didn't deserve it. I'll apologize and explain why I snapped at her.

You don’t own her you know. Why the hell hasn’t she found another job?

Credittocress · 22/10/2026 17:05

“I live in a large house” 🤣🤣

bowwowwowzer · 22/10/2026 17:06

If noise really is that much of a problem for you then explain to her WHY you don't want her to play loud music as she drives up to your farm.

Telling her to not play it with no explanation does sound very unreasonable.

Bogstandardname · 22/10/2026 17:08

Is this for real? I seriously doubt it is. If it is genuine, you have a real problem and it isn't the housekeeper.

BeatrizBoniface · 22/10/2026 17:10

God almighty, can you imagine treating someone like this? @NoMusicPlease - it's not Saxon times. She's not your Thrall.
Unbelievable.

I hope so, only because I really hope no housekeeper is actually being treated like this in real life.

I actually think this is a wind-up

It's got to be. Is anyone this unpleasant and prepared to brag about it?
