How we chose the best Eurocamp sites in Croatia

Because we know there's nothing like a real recommendation from a fellow parent, we first turned to the Mumsnet holidays forum to find out which Eurocamp sites were being praised by families. We then undertook wider research, including:

  • Considered which Eurocamp sites had won accolades or had been recommended in trusted publications

  • Scrutinised feedback on TripAdvisor and Google reviews

  • Looked at each site’s family-friendly facilities (kids’ clubs, pools, family rooms, entertainment)

  • Assessed the convenience of each location, (including beach access, proximity to attractions and airport transfer time)

  • Considered overall value for money based on price and on-site facilities

We've done Eurocamp in Croatia, flew to Pula and stayed a bit there then onto a campsite (by bus) which was ginormous but good fun (Camp Umag).

Our verdict

With an enviable location offering direct access to a Blue Flag beach, Park Umag is a great choice for families. On Croatia’s Istrian peninsula, close to the Slovenian border, this spacious site features a range of excellent facilities and claims our top spot as the best Eurocamp site in Croatia.

Park Umag’s pool complex has recently been extended and there’s an impressive six pools to choose from. Toddlers will love the pirate-themed splash pool, while more confident swimmers will be in their element on the waterslides, ranging from gentle slopes to high-energy flumes.

While it can be lively during peak season, guests certainly won’t be bored at Umag. There are kids’ clubs (open May to September) for daily entertainment for under 5’s, 5-8’s and 9-12’s, while active teens will love challenging new friends to a game of football, tennis or volleyball.

If you fancy venturing further afield, the on-site cycle hire is a great way to explore the local area - reviewers recommend heading down the promenade to the coastal city of Umag, around five miles away.

On the food front, there are restaurants serving Croatian or Mediterranean-inspired dishes indoors and alfresco, as well as a Venetian-style pizzeria.

Nearest airport: Park Umag is around a 50-minute drive from Pula Airport.

Best value Eurocamp site in Croatia

Amadria Park Camping Trogir, Dalmatia

What we like
  • Coastline location with views of the Adriatic Sea

  • Great dining options

  • Three family-friendly pools

What we don't like
  • Located on a hilly terrain

  • Some activities cost extra

Our verdict

While it’s not the cheapest Eurocamp site you can stay at in Croatia, we think Amadria Park, between Zadar and Split, offers excellent value for money when taking into account the overall package price alongside location and facilities.

This spacious site is situated right next to the beach and its elevated position offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea (although note that the terrain might be an issue for those with mobility issues). It’s also a short distance from the delightful village of Seget Vranjica, ideal for families who want to experience authentic Croatia.

There are three pools for cooling off on warmer days, while competitive parents will love challenging their kids on the high-energy inflatable aqua course.

The kids’ club is for children aged 4-12 and offers a varied activity schedule, and while some facilities do incur a charge, you’ll have access to table tennis, football, archery and horse riding on site.

Amadria Park has a variety of dining options, including an à la carte restaurant offering traditional Dalmatian specialities, and an Italian restaurant for family favourites like pizza and pasta. For a more relaxed affair, check out the on-the-go burger truck or the tempting sweet treats at the Cakehouse, and enjoy the views as you tuck in on the sun terrace.

Nearest airport: Amadria Park is around a 50-minute drive from Zadar Airport.

3

Best beachfront Eurocamp site in Croatia

Zaton Holiday Resort, Dalmatia

What we like
  • Direct access to a Blue Flag Beach

  • Great location for waters ports (may incur additional costs)

  • Two pool complexes

What we don't like
  • Large site requires a fair bit of walking

Our verdict

If you love spending time at the beach, Eurocamp’s Zaton Holiday Resort, just north of Zadar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, should be at the top of your wishlist.

Located directly on a beautiful Blue Flag Beach, the shallow waters of the protected lagoon are ideal for those taking their first tentative paddle (we recommend packing beach shoes). The more adventurous will love attempting the inflatable obstacle course, or heading to the diving centre to book diving excursions or hire jet skis.

Back on site, this large park offers impressive facilities. In addition to the kids' club for children aged 3-12, you’ll find two pool complexes and 7 pools to enjoy, including shallow splash parks for younger guests.

The park is also dappled with tennis courts, football pitches and a fun adventure golf course - so there’s plenty to occupy kids that can’t sit still.

Guests really rate the bakery and relaxed dining options, while a visit to the Maestral restaurant is a great place to try traditional Croatian cuisine.

The downside? At a large site, walks to and from accommodation can be long, which can be tiring for young children in the heat. When travelling with little legs, you may want to consider renting bikes, packing scooters, or jumping on the on-site train.

Nearest airport: Zaton Holiday Park is around a 35-minute drive from Zadar Airport.

4

Best Eurocamp site in Croatia for toddlers

Mon Perin, Bale, Istria

What we like
  • Dinosaur-themed pool complex

  • Shallow waters for paddling (but bring beach shoes)

  • Free fresh fruit and vegetable stand

What we don't like
  • Pool areas can get busy during peak times

Our verdict

Travelling with toddlers can be exhausting, but reassuringly, Mon Perin - between Pula and Rovinj on Croatia’s Istrian peninsula - has been thoughtfully created with younger guests in mind.

Set in a beautiful pine-shaded spot, the site has direct access to a shallow, gently shelving shoreline which is perfect for little ones to explore and paddle in beach shoes.

Back on site, the dinosaur theme is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. Kids will love spotting the dinosaur skeletons dotted around the park, or heading up the elevated walkway for a birdseye view of the pool complex. Even the shallow splash pool and mini slides are shaped like a brontosaurus.

The family-friendly restaurants cater to all taste buds (with no shortage of high chairs), and we love that there’s a complimentary fruit and veg stand open several times a week. If the kids get tired after dinner, you can hop on the free tourist train for an easy journey back to your accommodation.

Compared to some of the biggest parks like Umag and Zaton, evenings are a relatively calm affair, ideal if you want to unwind in your holiday home once the kids have headed to the land of nod.

Nearest airport: Mon Perin is around a 30-minute drive from Pula Airport.

5

Best Eurocamp site in Croatia for activities

Bi-Village, Pula, Istria

What we like
  • Great entertainment and kids’ clubs

  • Scuba-diving centre, windsurfing and sailboarding school

  • Extensive pool complex

What we don't like
  • Some guests report challenges securing sunbeds

Our verdict

If you’re an active family that dreads exclamations of “I’m bored”, Eurocamp’s Bi-Village site, just north of Pula, is an excellent choice thanks to a wealth of activities to keep the kids happy and entertained.

From having a kick about on the football pitch, playing volleyball or tackling the seaside adventure rope park, to more adventurous activities like kayaking and jet-skiing, this location offers it all.

The on-site kids' clubs are a big hit with reviewers with a jam-packed schedule for children aged 4-12 years. You’ll also find three freshwater pools (including one for toddlers), a splash pad and waterslides, and access to a heart-racing aquatic obstacle course.

Fancy exploring off-site? Follow the scenic cycle path into the historic fishing village of Fažana, take a boat trip to Brijuni National Park or hop on the bus to visit the Roman amphitheatre in Pula.

At the end of a fun-packed day, you can wind down and relax at the Pinewood restaurant, tucking into wood-fired pizza with an impressive sunset view.

Nearest airport: Bi-Village is around a 20-minute drive from Pula Airport.

Is Croatia good for a Eurocamp family holiday?

With warm temperatures between May and October, gorgeous coastal towns, incredible islands to explore and crystal-clear Adriatic waters ideal for paddling and water sports, Croatia is a top choice for a family holiday and it’s home to some of the most spacious holiday parks in the Eurocamp collection.

Most sites feature large pool complexes, loads of room to play and fantastic facilities for kids - from sports areas to splash zones and fun-filled kids’ clubs.

Which region of Croatia is best for Eurocamp sites?

Istria, home to Mon Perin and our top pick, Umag, is a popular choice for Eurocamp holidays due to its coastline location and access to watersports. With short transfer times from Pula airport - where many budget airlines offer flights to including easyJet and Ryanair - it also makes a great base for those wishing to explore further afield.

Are Eurocamp sites in Croatia suitable for young children?

Yes, most Eurocamp sites are well-equipped for young children, with shallow splash pools and beach access. If you're planning to paddle, however, it's worth noting the shoreline can be quite pebbly, so make sure you pack suitable footwear.

What’s included when staying at a Eurocamp site?

Depending on the site, accommodation ranges from simple glamping-style safari tents to premium lodges sleeping up to six, so you can choose an option that works for your budget and family size.

A Eurocamp stay includes accommodation and access to most on-site facilities, which may include swimming pools, waterparks, kids' clubs and sports facilities, however some activities may incur an additional charge.

It’s self-catering accommodation so food and drink is not included, but each park has a variety of dining options, as well as an on-site supermarket.

When is the best time to visit Croatia with kids?

If you have younger children or can travel outside school holidays, May, early June, and September are great months to visit Croatia. Outside peak season, it’s not only quieter but the temperatures are warm without being uncomfortable.

As you’d expect, July and August are much busier, but the warm, sunny weather helps you make the most of your stay.
