People apparently support trans

Don't know if these has been discussed, but was watching a soy documentary on the fight between trans and feminists and it actually said 72% of females support transwomen using female facilities and services and 65% of men support transmen using male services and facilities.

Anyone have any clue why so many seem to support this?

Fake news. Designed to make people feel that they're in the wrong if they don't agree.

To be fair, a lot of people I speak to dont have a problem with it UNTIL I explain about self ID and how the Transwomen using female only spaces are likely to have a fully functioning penis.
Then most of them change their mind funnily enough

Yep. Mind you, some of the more lib-femmy ones just stick their fingers in their ears, tell you you're a bad person and then block you on social media because listening to facts upsets them.

It's because they think trans women all look like Paris Lees rather than Danielle Muscato or Stefonknee Wolsch.

Because on the face of it, with no other information at hand (like the threat to women from men who will abuse self ID, women's sport, AWS, women's spaces, referring to women's biology and the implications in medicine, how crimes will be recorded, the skewed and downright bullshit statistics surrounding suicide and abuse of transwomen etc) transwomen using female facilities doesn't sound like a big deal, and is what man people have done out of courtesy for years anyway. It's being portrayed as the kind thing to do, as progressive.

Those of us who are gender critical are portrayed as bigots, committing actual violence when we say that women don't have penises.

As soon as people delve into it a little more it usually peak transes them.

I wonder what proportion of those in favour of transwomen using women's facilities have a mental image of transwomen being like Haley Cropper from Coronation Street (played by a female actress) rather than an individual with a fully functioning penis such as the lovely Jess Bradley.

Why are people screaming fake news just because it doesn't fit their agendaConfused I am GC btw

In my case it would be because outside of mn I have only encountered trans women who “pass” or close to and keep their heads down and would NEVER expose their bodies in shared changing rooms and really do just want to get on with living as if they were women.

Source? Definition of transwoman given? Were they asked if happy to let people with a penis use female 'facilities'?

Was self-ID vs diagnosis discussed?

Definition of 'facilities' used - toilets? Changing rooms? Refuges?

Well I think it is total nonsense, if you want a sex change, do it - paid out of your own money.

No child should have it done until they are 18

Well, I used to be fully in favour when I thought we were just talking about transsexuals; people with gender dysphoria who'd socially, medically and surgically transitioned and looked like women (or as near as they could).

A huge number of people think 'live and let live' because they think trans people are old fashioned transsexuals who are undergoing a lot of horrible medical treatment to alter their bodies. I used to believe that.

I’d like to see the source of this study.

It is not my experience but I realise the people I know might not be representative...

Was that the Jess Bradley interview with Sky?

What did Jess say about it?

Report
Sarahconnor1 · 05/08/2018 18:10

Was it the sky news report that featured Jess Bradley? It really hasn't aged well in the 1.5 weeks since it was aired.

And yes most of the general public have no idea what the trans umbrella now covers.

Wanderabout · 05/08/2018 18:11

Also it is entirely possible to 'support trans' and want single sex changing options etc

Report
Bingpot · 05/08/2018 18:11

The title of this isn't great. It's not that we don't 'support' trans people or are anti-trans. It's a little dangerous to frame it that way.

It's about protecting women's rights to single sex spaces and protecting their dignity, safety and privacy.

I think this was the social atitude survey. Its interesting as some TRAs alternate between quoting this survey which demonstrates high levels of acceptance and then the Stonewall report on hate crimes reported by people who are transgender, thus demonstrating high levels of transphobia.

There was though an issue with the way the particular questions were framed in the Social Atitudes survey given that much of the general public likely assume talk of transwomen refers to transexuals who have had or are intending to have surgery.

Sounds about right to me

I have never had a problem with the a transwoman using the ladies

Now i want to know what is the definition of trans before i answer that question

If people think that a transwoman is someone who wants to be a woman and who is transitioning and wearing makeup and a dress then yeah...i dont doubt they dont have a problem

Thats not what it means nowadays though

Report
PeakPants · 05/08/2018 18:13

And Bingpot I agree entirely.
I support trans rights against discrimination but also support women's rights to single-sex spaces. I don't view the two as incompatible.
