yeah - last thread ! (at least I hope so, 2 more to go....)

I must say, he was originally down to do advanced maths on tuesday next week, and he pulled out.
I'm not sure we would have made it through another weekend.

he is sad though as all the parties have been cancelled (I'm guessing the parents were asked and said no!) Makes me wish we had a barn or something for them to party and camp in, it would be fun (but not in my house)

Oh dear - AQA German was ‘brutal’. On top of horrible chemistry I guess it’s not been a good day.....

Thanks for the new thread lambuffy. Was wondering if I knew how to generate one, then got called away, and hey presto we were full

Checking in for the final push. AQA chemistry (higher) was 'fine' apparently. But everything's been fine this week! I think DS is fed up of my grilling after every exam. Geog tomorrow, then physics, then done! All the promised post exams here too haven't materialised either, they're desperately trying to persuade some parents to agree. I feel quite sorry for them , they deserve a blow out! But NIMBY Grin

Post exam parties that should say!

So AQA Chemistry went "ok". He's not being highly communicative but I managed to get some elaboration in that there were some tough questions but also some easy ones - so on balance "ok".

AQA Electronics went well apparently.

One more to go!!!!

Thankfully a day off tomorrow so he's taking a break tonight and doing Physics revision all day tomorrow.

one more to go here: Physics on Friday

Bimkom · 12/06/2019 16:29

Sorry to hear AQA German was brutal Foslady. Maybe it would have been better if the German papers had been stolen along with the French. DS is convinced that the French was not too bad because they used the reserve papers, and they hadn't thought as hard about them. I am not sure what to make of this theory, but anyway.

Report
Bimkom · 12/06/2019 16:34

I wonder if we ever get to see papers that were supposed to be the main ones and then at the last moment substituted for by the reserve.

Two more, Geography and Physics

Night off here too. Dd did a couple of hours physics revision after Chem exam and has now gone to hang out with a friend. Only physics left on Friday makes 25 exam papers - bonkers🥴

gleegeek · 12/06/2019 16:58

Foslady dd agrees that Aqa German was terrible. The listening was ok but the reading was nigh on impossible apparently - Twitter is quite funny about it. Hope the writing isn't as cruel on Monday!
No big end of exam party here either but dd and 5 friends are going camping. I'm slightly nervous about it but they're going to a proper campsite and they're all sensible girls(I hope!)Confused

SilentSister · 12/06/2019 17:10

iGCSE Edexcel German also brutal. DD says everyone found it completely impossible. She doesn't want to talk about it.

Roll on Friday, Physics 2 and Biology 3.

Dd said AQA triple Chemistry was ‘good’ - she said that before exam she was in the canteen looking over all the flame tests etc as they were the only thing you needed to memorise rather than learn how to do : I guess she struck lucky.
It’s an A’level choice, so I’m pleased for her.
Only Physics to go Friday.
I’m feeling slightly guilty, I’m abandoning her tomorrow & going of to the IOW festival for the weekend - although Dh will be here for her. I won’t be here for our ceremonial putting a line through the exam when done on her exam timetable,
Regarding Prom. I’m so torn - I’m staff ( science department ), so am invited every Year. I know I cant go because Dd needs to have her privacy and enjoyment without me there but, I so want to see her have her 'moment'. She's known for only wearing boys clothes, no make up and not giving a second thought to her appearance - for prom , shes going for the surprise factor- full out in a dramatic dress and is having her hair & make up done by my friends daughter. Its doubtful she will recognise herself let alone anyone else will. 😂😂
I will have many 'spies' there though ( colleagues) a friend is always the official photographer...( teaches photography).

I got in from work about 4.30 and asked DD how chemistry was and she said she couldn't remember! I joked 'well, you have slept since then' and she laughed and said 'yeah'. It turns out she couldn't remember with certainty if Chemistry was today or yesterday so just went along with my comment. She has totally lost track of what is what at the moment after so many exams!

GCSE German here too - listening ok - reading a nightmare!!! Let’s hope Monday’s writing is kinder...
Chemistry was fine. Geography tomorrow then physics.
Son (14) also doing exams - home not a fun place - roll on Monday Grin

2 more exams to go for us. It's going to be a very long wait until 22nd August! I think we have everything in hand for prom - it's an expensive business!

Last weekend dd turned into an absolute blob 😏
“I’m soooooooooo bored” while flopping around the house in dressing gown, socks and extremely greasy hair.

She would appear periodically to raid the fridge and inform me (again) how thoroughly boooooooooooored she was.

Thankfully, today’s chemistry seems to have kicked her back into life!

Physics Friday then further maths next Wednesday, then............

SUMMER!!!😁👍 ☀️

Good luck everyone, nearly there!

We're doing this. Unfortunately it was two weeks before we moved the first bit of paper to find it's permanently marked the fridge!

Quite sad we have no prom. The school has been on study leave forever and sadly most families are leaving straight after the exams so it’s a bit of an anti climax.

Report
pointythings · 12/06/2019 19:02

Chemistry surprisingly good - DD2 studied the flame tests and they came up - she was very very pleased. She's absolutely shattered though - she isn't revising other than the cram sessions the school are laying on for Geography and Physics. It has to be said her field work knowledge is solid and the Physics is the bit she's best at.

We also have a Rheumatology appointment for her and my new work are being amazing about letting me go to appointments despite me being a newbie.
