Ds1 out with pils today then dh taking him out weds evening so hopefully should take his mind off it

Nousernameforme · 20/08/2019 10:11

ds 1 is still asleep here. I have no problem with him playing ps4 all night at moment it's taken his mind off it and the days don't seem to drag for him. Though for me they are flying by

TheFrendo · 20/08/2019 10:28

Requiring an 8 to do A level maths is a bit excessive. Three students I tutor in maths have just got an A at A level (Edexcel ) after a 7 at GCSE.

Nousernameforme · 20/08/2019 11:10

It's further maths he wants to do

myrtleWilson · 20/08/2019 11:32

Getting very nervous here.. Dd planning to collect results and come home to open them...

TheFrendo · 20/08/2019 11:35

Ah, I must have missed that. An 8 for further maths is a much more reasonable requirement.

Foslady · 20/08/2019 12:40

We’ve been away the last two weeks, fly home this afternoon long haul so land tomorrow morning (Wednesday) so a jet lagged day for us so hopefully dd will be to knackered to not sleep! I’ve booked the car in for a service in the town her school is in so up early for that then meeting up with one of her friends at a coffee shop snd into the school for 9am (i’m going to be flagging by the time the car is ready!!). Once enrolled she wants to trawl the next towns charity shops for 6th form (hopefully 🤞}

Arewedone · 20/08/2019 13:25

Dd asked if I thought she was good enough which really made me sad. I think GCSEs are so tough and self worth can’t be defined by a grade!

onaroll · 20/08/2019 14:14

I'm starting to get nervy too.
Dd has always done 'well' and everyone feels that her results will just follow on from there, including her.
What if they don't 😱
For her to follow the pathway she wants at her 6th form she needs to get a best 8 of more than 58. So needs 7's or 8's.
Individual subjects chosen at A level: 3 of them require a 7 and 1 requires an 8....
I just am fingers crossed she gets what she needs / what she is expecting as she is her hardest taskmaster .

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 14:23

Gosh.
So many places need an 8 to do a level!!?
Ds1s 6th form choice requires the usual 5 x 5's inc eng lang and maths then individual requirements for each subject but the highest is 6!
(I think!)
runs off to check

onaroll · 20/08/2019 14:24

Also , while I'm over thinking.... This thread has been a huge mental support to me throughout the GCSE process. Come September is there plans for us to 'meet' & support each other with the whole starting futher education for our 'little' ones?

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 14:24

Year 12 support thread :)

onaroll · 20/08/2019 14:38

Hooo - thank you !
Where do I find it Confused

TabbyStar · 20/08/2019 14:47

I suspect all the 8s are for further maths. No danger of that in our household! (I did the sciences, DD is definitely humanities.)

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 14:50

Um...haven't started it yet 😁
But I will (unless someone else wants to?...)

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 14:50

tabby ah! Right. No danger of that here, either :)

ArthurtheCatsHumanSlave · 20/08/2019 16:06

Def need a new "Starting Year 12 - 2019" thread - can I suggest we keep going with this one though until results are through, I can see us needing another one of these first to close off with our DC's GCSE's Wink. I don't mind starting one.

Sososour · 20/08/2019 16:38

5 grade 5s (including maths and at least one of the English(s) ) to get into 6th form here. Grade 7 in maths needed to do maths, chemistry or physics .
A bit of stress now as we near results day, including lots of trippy failure type dreams . About 40 hours to go now Shock
I have a bad feeling about these results tbh - it’s been a weird stressful summer for us with lots of worries one way or another ( other family members) . I’m hoping this Thursday bucks the trend and goes well.
I am also keeping everything crossed for all of our class of 2019 Dc.

berlinbabylon · 20/08/2019 17:05

DS needs 5 x 5s including Maths and English lang with a 6 for Spanish. If he decides to do law A level he needs (though I don't think it's a requirement, more of a recommendation) a 6 for English language.

Bimkom · 20/08/2019 17:10

No going into school here either, as DS (and other Year 11s) can log in to the school website at 6am (so we will be up early, and probably have our results before most! If he will tell me).

Strangely enough they didn't send round the email today - they did last Tuesday for the A Levels, and they always send to the whole school, so I have had it every year since Year 7, one on the Tuesday before A Levels and then on the Tuesday before GCSEs. It says to check they can log in (we have done that), and that the website will be locked from tomorrow, until results are released at 6am.
Wonder why we haven't got ours yet! It has never not come out before.

Also worrying that DS has worked so very very hard, and hopefully it will pay off

Bimkom · 20/08/2019 17:12

Just checked and last week's A levels email came out at 10.12am on the Tuesday. Now I am worried that we didn't get the GCSE one!

marmiteloversunite · 20/08/2019 20:07

Nerves definitely kicking in here. DD is very anxious and has had stomach problems today. Same symptoms as she had during the exams. Wish we could skip tomorrow and go straight to Thursday!

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 20:41

Tomorrow will be a looooong day...

Nousernameforme · 20/08/2019 20:47

DS has been very quiet all day but spent most of it downstairs wanting to be among people but not communicating. I do worry, he is the easiest of the lot of them but i wonder if he hides a lot of his angst.

LosingHerMissMarbles · 20/08/2019 21:13

Similar here. DS has become very 'cuddly' in between bouts of wanting to exercise or walk. Keeping the nerves under control is hard, for all
of us here.
