Phew, found you all!!

masterbuffy happy birthday!!!

Dd found the German (H) very tough yesterday. Strange questions about topics they had not covered, I'm sure she said it asked about the use of nuclear power??

Chemistry was 'so so'.

Day off today. Then physics tomorrow and German writing Monday.
And then she is done!! Woohoo!!

Good luck to those who have an exam today. Hang in there!

Foslady · 13/06/2019 07:35

Happy birthday dsbuffy!

Re the shoes - do you have a cobbler nearby who could maybe help? Hope you can rescue them.
(I dropped chicken fat on dd’s dr Martin’s on Sunday, only they were the soft leather ones and in oxblood red 🤦🏻‍♀️ - huge amounts of talc and one tin of polish later and they are ok again - phew!)
Three more exams to go (we finish on Tuesday) but day off/revision today.
Good luck for any exams today!

Good morning & happy bday baby buffy🎂🎂
Good luck to all today, day off from exams for us. How are the headaches? Mine mercifully gone.

Fibbke · 13/06/2019 07:58

Dd is off today and I've said she MUST throw everything she's got left into physics tomorrow. Picking her and friend up after physics, taking them to Macdonald's (! Its what they requested) then i expect they'll spend 5 hours getting ready for the party they are going to. No celebratory booze for me as dd doesn't want to stay over so i need to pick her up at 1am!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 13/06/2019 07:59

Happy birthday masterbuffy!!

Last exam here today, thank god. DS has a job interview this afternoon which I think he's actually more focused on! And then a big party tomorrow night.

Good luck all!!

Iambuffy · 13/06/2019 08:04

Thank you! 😁
He likes gifts and has had lots of cash too so happy boy!😊
I am making birthday flapjack later
He seems pretty chilled about geography this morning...I'm glad as its an a level choice.
Have a good day everyone and good luck to DC taking exams today 🍀

Happy birthday!! If weather looks up will be a great time for a (slightly delayed) birthday celebration

Can’t see dd doing much today in terms of physics- boredom compared with demotivation- but hey ho only one more day

Bimkom · 13/06/2019 08:44

sorry that should be happy birthday lambuffy DS - clearly dyslexic spelling in there!

Bimkom · 13/06/2019 08:51

DS gone off to geography in a bit of a humff because we discussed the cleaning and tidying of bedroom and workspace, and I indicated it needed to be prioritised and done before he goes away (on 3rd July with youth group for four weeks). Also because it is raining and he left his raincoat in school, and nothing else really fits him (nor are any of the options that almost fit him acceptable because they are too bright). I have always been of the view that safety first, and coats for DC should be bright, so they have a hope of being seen by drivers on dull days. So of course DS hates wearing anything bright as a coat, and refused to wear a raincoat for about a year, and then bought himself an olive green one (sigh). He is otherwise pretty road safety conscious, but even so.

Foslady · 13/06/2019 08:57

Bimkom - We’ve just had Re dreaded bedroom and study shit tip talk too.........it’s the only time dd turns typical teenager (Yes I KNOW it needs doing OKAY!!!!!Grin)
She has no choice though now - her friends are coming over after the last exam!!!!

gleegeek · 13/06/2019 09:00

Happy birthday babybuffy 🎁🎉🎈
Dd has Geography today which she assures me she couldn't revise for. She was exhausted after yesterday's 3 exams and did nothing last night. I'm hoping she'll do some physics later 🤞
She has been invited to a 16th birthday party Saturday night which she's a bit worried about. Her friendship group hasn't done parties, the most they agreed to was a tiny glass of prosecco at New Year, so this will be the first 'big' party she's been to and not with her close friends as the birthday girl is a friend from an extra curricular activity. She will know people there but not really well... we've said she can come home any time, not to feel obliged to drink etc etc but any advice? The parents will be there and are providing the alcohol, does dd need to take anything? Apparently it's fancy dress but loosely - what should she wear?? Aaagh, I'm out of my comfort zoneGrinBlush

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 09:26

Happy Birthday buffy Ds🎂 hopefully he has a kind paper today!
Good look to all the geography takers🍀
Dds study looking v empty with only Physics books sitting there Grin we have done pre bedtime removal of files, books etc at the end of each exam so she could see it going down.

readyforsunshine · 13/06/2019 09:27

Glee first party here for dd too, similar situation. I do however have lots of teenage party experience from ds!!
Fancy dress for girls tends to be a nod towards, if anything. Boys seem to get more into it, particularly judging by the photos I’ve seen, yes ds you in Hawaiian shirt, goggles, unicorn inflatable tyre & squid hat for beach themed partyHmm many of the girls you wouldn’t have known were in fancy dress.
Early parties parents provided alcohol so as to be able to manage amounts, unless specifically asked to bring own. Girls seem to drink cider black fruits, a disgusting seeet wine the name of which escapes me or sometimes mixed bottle drinks. For early parties, much to his distress, I insisted on speaking to parents to check he was going where he told me, full address, phone etc. I did seem to be in the minority as no parent ever contacted me when I was hosting. I warned him about not overdoing it & also being responsible for others that may be vulnerable to having drunk too much &he was actually pretty responsible, initiallyHmm
This fairly quickly progressed to full on hardly knowing where he was most w/Es, a lot of stress & rebellion & has now thankfully settled down. I really hope I don’t have similar with dd 🤞

AGirlHasNoCake · 13/06/2019 09:32

mine slunk off for Geography thismorning - DS has been working very hard, DD sat on her phone all evening and did nothing.

Yesterdays chem went OK for triple, dd said combined was "meh" - which meant it went badly. SHe needs science to do her BTec choice, so this will not end well.

German wa a mare, said DS.

DD has 1 more - physics tomorrow.

DS has 4 more - physics, 2x further math, plus german

Im exhausted!

Arewedone · 13/06/2019 09:46

Readyforsunshine- so funny but true. DS in a nurses uniform and blonde wig. Trying to walk upstairs pretending he hasn’t had a drink or falling asleep in the back of the car because he’s”tired”
My Dd has attended some of the parties over the last year that Ds has and she has no interest thankfully in alcohol despite it being around.
I do insist on collecting them and don’t mind ferrying friends. Dd tells me vodka is a thing with the girls, disguised as water in water bottles which is worrying, hopefully if the parents are around though it should be ok and Dd will have a great time!

Bimkom · 13/06/2019 09:47

BTW, I notice that a highly selective sixth form that wants six GCSEs at grade 8/9 for entry are saying "It does not include a foreign language that is a candidate’s home language or native tongue. " Clearly the sixth form feel they can identify.
Not sure if they would count one where a parent speaks it as a native, but it is not the "home language" - arguably while still and advantage, if the home tongue is English (ie the method of communication between the parents and children), that would not be included.

Bimkom · 13/06/2019 09:53

Sorry, wrong thread!

Luciaia · 13/06/2019 09:56

Very much vodka with both the girls and the boys. Don’t think it’s changed much as I still remember sitting in a park with a bottle of glens.
arewedone love the imagery you’ve created with your son’s description Grin

TabbyStar · 13/06/2019 09:59

Someone brought what appeared to be ouzo in a cherry pop bottle to one of DD's parties! They all drink Echo Falls, fruit cider or Sourz.

Fibbke · 13/06/2019 09:59

We had being sick out of the car window "because she ate a burger then went on the trampoline" Confused

Luciaia · 13/06/2019 10:12

Dd stumbled up the stairs and broke the glass she was carrying because ‘she got distracted because she was holding her trainers’

gleegeek · 13/06/2019 10:23

Oh godGrinGrinGrin am scared! She can't be too hungover, she's got German on Monday!!!
I remember flushing a contact lens down the sink after thinking I'd managed to convince my parents I was sober...contact lenses were expensive then and dad took the u-bend off to find it. Yuck!
Helpful advice about not going to town on the dressing up - will pass that on.

SilentSister · 13/06/2019 10:31

Tidying up the revision den will be number one priority this weekend.
However, originally DD was going to burn all her notes, but we decided that was not very environmentally friendly, then we decided she could recycle them all. Now, apparently, she and her friends have all decided to keep their notes in case they need to do retakes. Oh dear, not much confidence there then Sad.
