Yes loads of anxiety here too. Lots of 'trapped' running away dreams and broken sleep. Just want to get it over with. Dd is worrying about relatives being told etc. I've said they're her results, no-one else's business...I'll have to face grandparent's wrath about that I guess! Obviously I'll tell them if she's happy etc but she doesn't want each grade discussed and analysed and I don't blame her tbh. UrghConfused
Dd is going with a few friends to a theme park tomorrow to take their minds off it all.

Hoooo · 20/08/2019 21:37

Yep. Lots of cuddles here too

MaddieElla · 20/08/2019 21:40

Yep. Trippy dreams here too, from me and from her!!

She's got a look of angst on her face constantly now, with the odd laugh out loud at me noticing the angsty face. But she's constantly popping in and sitting with us for ages, normally she's stuck to her bed

Nearly there...

Bimkom · 20/08/2019 23:06

I think we are going to need a new thread, probably tomorrow, otherwise we will run out early Thursday (although presumably we should fill up this one first)
I am not sure how to link, anybody more skilled at this than me, and able to set up a new thread?

Bimkom · 20/08/2019 23:08

DS also meeting up with some friends from different schools tomorrow (but all year 11). Was going to book an Escape Room, then discovered how expensive it was, so they aren't, and instead just meeting up.

hopelesschildren · 20/08/2019 23:28

With dc1 having received his A level results last week I am afraid dc2 GCSE results have been pushed to the background a bit. Don't seem so important compared to dc1, especially as dc2 will stay at her old school regardless.

raspberryrippleicecream · 21/08/2019 00:05

DS2 needs 7s for 2 of his subject choices and an 8 for FM. His other subject isn't as high. Although the school hasn't actually confirmed their offer! He also has an offer elsewhere for 7s, but they don't offer Further maths. So we need to confirm with current school his choices are all ok so we can accept/decline the other school. Or go to Plan B if the grades aren't good enough.

Doors open 8.30 for us. DS2 is away on a residential until tomorrow, but wants us to stay in the car while he goes in on his own. School is ten miles away do needs a lift. (We are also in the expensive travel pass club!)

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2019 01:13

Nerves kicking in here also.

No cuddles...but just a steadfast dictat that we are not to mention results day.

The school won't do online, so you have to go in or choose the post (which is a day or two after).

It's open from 8am until 12pm - funny in so far as DS gone full teen mode and getting up before 11am is an anathema atm.

I suspect he might rouse himself on Thursday.

It seemed so far away when we were all talking about exams and long the wait was for results.

Can't believe it's nearly here.

Not sure how everyone else feels but I'm more nervous than DS, running every scenario through my head.

Good luck everyone Thanks

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2019 01:15

@Bimkom

I can set up a new thread in anticipation of this one filling.

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2019 01:29

Hi,

Hope this is ok with everyone.

I suspect this thread may fill quickly so I've lined up the next.

GCSE 2019 support thread 6 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/3671029-gcse-2019-support-thread-6

Thanks,

Nousernameforme · 21/08/2019 01:31

Well im not sleeping. Can they resit if they have passed but not got a high enough grade does anyone know?

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2019 01:33

Yes - for English and Maths is my understanding (state schools).

However you can re-sit privately any exam.

DeRigueurMortis · 21/08/2019 01:40

Just a thought - given this thread will max out pretty quickly on Thursday, it might be easier for everyone to start posting/place marking on the new thread.

Good Afternoon,

If anyone is looking for support to understand the GCSE results day process, have a look at the GCSE Results day guide 2019: generationmedics.org.uk/gcse-results-day-guide/
I found this super useful!

Also the transition from Yr 11 to YR 12 can be daunting for many young people, have a look through the Transitioning from Yr 11 to 12 guide: generationmedics.org.uk/transitioning-from-yr-11-to-yr-12/ It has some great tips and advice which you can share with your children :)
