TRIGGER WARNING - suicide attempt

She's taken an overdose. And it's my fault, I left my medication where she could find it. Shit, shit, shit.

It’s not your fault.

I hope you get reassuring news soon, and I hope DD gets the support she needs.

JackOfGentleman · 03/09/2021 21:53

Thank you. Sorry, should have said, she's 19.

I'm so sorry, have a sweet tea

Soontobe60 · 03/09/2021 21:55

Attempting suicide isn’t your fault, you are not responsible. The medication she has taken has a very low risk of damage following overdose. Please try not to worry.

Theworldishard · 03/09/2021 21:56

It's not your fault
Did she have existing mh issues?

JackOfGentleman · 03/09/2021 21:58

Yes, she was recently diagnosed with depression.
She's starting to look really ill and they haven't even triaged her yet. She's just sitting with her head between her knees.

Is she expressing remourse about what she did?

Not your fault FlowersFlowers

JackOfGentleman · 03/09/2021 22:02

It is my fault. They're my medicines and I was clearing out the cupboard where they live and I accidentally left them on the side. I had no idea she was feeling this bad.

Keep on at the staff, tell them you're extremely worried. Unfortunately from several A&E experiences patiently waiting doesn't get you anywhere

JackOfGentleman · 03/09/2021 22:03

Remorse, no. She says she intended to take enough to be fatal though.

Fluffypastelslippers · 03/09/2021 22:03

Please don't blame yourself here Thanks

Wolfiefan · 03/09/2021 22:03

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT your fault OP. You aren’t to blame for the actions caused by her illness. Not even slightly.
You are getting her help. You’re doing the right thing. Flowers

Do you know how many she's taken? Did she seek help once she'd taken the pills?
banisher · 03/09/2021 22:04

It's not your fault OP. It might be comforting to think that (it gives an outlet for your anger) but it's not true.

Do they know she's overdosed? How long ago was it?

catfunk · 03/09/2021 22:11

She sounds like she hasn't done too much damage If she's conscious etc.
Has she been prescribed any medication for her depression? Don't blame yourself or her, let her know how much you love her xx

TheHouseILiveIn · 03/09/2021 22:11

Do you know for sure how many she took and what strength?

ShuddaBeenMe · 03/09/2021 22:12

It's not your fault.

Has she been honest with how many and what she's taken?

PricklesTheHedgehog · 03/09/2021 22:12

Handhold here OP Thanks

SamanthaJayne4 · 03/09/2021 22:12

I also agree it isn't your fault OP. I hope your DD will be ok.

autumnboys · 03/09/2021 22:12

It’s not your fault, or hers. Depression is an awful bitch. Hang in there. Sending a handhold.

FlissMumsnet · 03/09/2021 22:13

Hi JackOfGentleman,

We're so sorry to hear what has happened - we can only imagine how worried you must be.
We hope you don't mind but we've had to edit your opening post as it contained the name of the drug which we don't want to make freely available.

We've included some links/signposts to other places you may seek support for yourself or your DD.
