Low-carb bootcamp

Week 6 - Low Carb Bootcamp - it's all downhill from here!

Morning losers!

Here's the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of Bootcamp. By now, hopefully you're in the swing of things, and the scales and/or the tape measure are showing good results.

Keep focused. Keep your eye on what you're eating - it's all too easy to become a bit complacent, relax and let the carbs creep back in.

Keep up the water (you are drinking enough, aren't you?!) and make sure that you're eating lots of fat and getting your carbs from vegetables and salad.

But above all - good luck!

I’m having a quiet (non-carby) celebration here, as it’s the first time I’ve seen single figures on the scales in a fair few years. So far finding it remarkably low-stress, and not feeling like I’m missing out at all. Does the weight slow tend to slow naturally as you reach a certain point or do I have to do something different to maintain?

Well done! Star

Yes, as you reach your target, you will find weight loss does slow down. This is the point at which you need to keep an eagle eye on your portions sizes - calories do come into play, I'm afraid!

gained this week, no idea why really, think i need to drink more water.
Im regretting even weighing myself as i have been in a really good place the last few days, just being content to stay on the woe, trying not to think about it too much, weighing myself less but feeling very happy and well on it so a gain isn't good mentally. definitely still in ketosis (i get a headache when both leaving and entering so its a good indicator)

ive made a batch of leek and goats cheese soup so plan to have that for lunch for the next couple of days and see what happens. happy to continue as i feel healthy and in control which is great. i also FEEL slimmer even though the scales dont agree.

I think to ensure i get enough water im going to buy a 2 litre bottle and fill it every morning, with the baby its such a hassle keeping track so hopefully that will make a difference.

I haven't drunk water in over a week, will rectify that today!

Marking my place on the new thread. Weighing in at 75.4kg this morning so back to before I completely stopped weighing myself 6m ago (a sure sign I'm piling on the pounds) but annoyingly still over 5kg the weight I got to the last time I seriously tackled things.

I am going to my fist exercise class since I had a baby toddler, a very gentle yoga class. Wish me luck!!!

Good luck to everyone today.

Thanks BIWI- not just for my gold star —preens— but for giving up so much of your time to support us. It doesn’t seem to be slowing down yet- my body appears to have set a different goal to my head!

I am at the airport and forgot to weigh in this morning. Hmm
Will do my best to stay on plan while away.

10-10 this morning , which I am really pleased with as I’ve fallen off the wagon big time over the weekend
I realise I can not drink wine at home , as I am unable to stop once I start , so the solution is to not start 🙁

Dinner out tonight as it is MILs birthday , there will be 11 of us, and some of the other guests are Trump loving , leave voters ( so we don’t see them often ) it will be challenging

One of the starters at the restaurant is olives with feta , so I can just tuck into that and let it all go over my head 👍

For those of you struggling with your scales are you taking your measurements?

Your measurements are actually a much more accurate way of monitoring your progress. If you haven't got a tape measure, keep trying on clothes that are a little bit too small right now.

With low carbing you're both retaining and building muscle, which is denser than fat - so you may weigh the same, but your body shape will be leaner.

I'm static at 128.3 this week. Not unhappy with that - Valentine's day wine and chocolates, and some wine with a Sunday lunch feast DH cooked up yesterday.

Must. Resist. Complacency!

Thank you for a new thread @BIWI
I was actually very eager to post(unusual) as I lost 1.3 lb 😊 and I am very happy this morning!
I think the key to success was
-not even a drop of alcohol over the weekend not easy watching dh sippinng his cider and actively ignoring the fact that I had a bottle of Prosecco in the drinks cabinet
-drinking the recommended amount of water instead of wine
Here to see more people reporting good results
Hope I can stay focused and motivated for the rest of the week.

I'm finally back on the thread after the logging out thing, whi h meant I had to try to get into my old email address to reset my password etc..
Anyway, week off for half term here, plus DH has been off, which is not good for the drinking... We've been working on the garden a bit, so feeling quite sore. Still keeping up with running, which might be the only thing keeping my weight about the same. My measurements have changed though, waist mainly, down about an inch, maybe more.
Going to start up the yoga again too, which helps slim my waist.
I think it's unlikely I'll lose much more, I've not weighed less than this since I was 20. Still would like to lose a few more lbs though.

@Haworthia

Have you taken/been taking your measurements?

And also - risking your wrath again! - list out for me what you've been eating and drinking, and let me see if I can help you.

Morning all! Survived the curry at MIL's! Went with the shashlik- fab!

Scales show 1lb down, but I know it's 2 really (or was on Saturday) so really pleased.

NSVs a-plenty. Back in my summer clothes (the ones I couldn't wear last year!). Still got the toe in my white trousers, but less so (looked like Pac-Man a couple of weeks ago).

I need to be careful I'm eating enough. DH and the boys are skiing this week and it's easy not to bother cooking for one. Yesterday (before the curry) I had nought but a babybel. Must do better.

@Doilooklikeatourist I haven't had wine in the house since Christmas. If I do, I drink it. In fact, I'd be keeping one eye on the clock and the other on the bottle right now. Tragic, but true. Not having it here is the only way for me.

@BIWI I wish I’d taken my measurements at the start of Bootcamp, but I didn’t.

I’m not going to list what I’ve been eating because I can’t remember and I CBA Grin But, as someone said last week, this is a LOT of denial for mere weight maintenance.

And I have a trip to IKEA planned for this week and I won’t be able to have meatballs, mashed potato and cake Sad I love the IKEA restaurant...

Haven’t weighed in a while due to TOM but enjoying the lack of appetite and not being addicted to food (carbs) any more. I’m in my green BMI so I’m focusing on building muscle and improving CV. Altho I woke up with a crusty throat so no gym today.

But since I’ve read WHY WE GET FAT I now know that exercise isn’t important for weight loss so I’m not too concerned

We had roast chicken for lunch yesterday, so my treat this morning was the chicken skin crisped up in the oven Grin
L - roast cauliflower with left-over beef rendang and spinach

Then I'm away for the rest of the week. I've got granola with me, and some macadamia nuts, and I'll buy avocado, full-fat yogurt and some blueberries. Then I will just have make the best of what is on offer. I'm expecting hearty vegetarian food so I'm hoping that there will be lots of unadulterated veg and salad, not all mixed in with pasta, beans and lentils.

Weight is down which is nice to see. My scales are still dodgy but even with the variation they consistently show 3kg less than at the start of bootcamp. Thanks BIWI for your effort in all of this.

@Haworthia CBA? Hmm.

But you can be to complain you're not losing weight?

Look - I can't lose weight for you. That's up to you. As is the lack of loss.

The fact that you won't list out your food/drink is, I think, very revealing. Are you seriously telling me that you're following all the rules but still not losing weight?

I have stayed the same but I was lower earlier in the week.
I've just got back from a few days on holiday. The food was no bother at all, really easy to stay on track but I drank wine and cava which I haven't during bootcamp.
The hardest part was yesterday travelling home with only one tiny cafe open in the airport and a long delay and nothing at all low carb on the plane. Unfortunately I succumbed to a sandwich as I was feeling so hungry and was mad at myself all the time I was eating it.
I am back to it today and focussed on putting that behind me.
Well done to all you successful losers!
