Week 6 - Low Carb Bootcamp - it's all downhill from here!

Morning losers!

Here's the spreadsheet

So we start the second half of Bootcamp. By now, hopefully you're in the swing of things, and the scales and/or the tape measure are showing good results.

Keep focused. Keep your eye on what you're eating - it's all too easy to become a bit complacent, relax and let the carbs creep back in.

Keep up the water (you are drinking enough, aren't you?!) and make sure that you're eating lots of fat and getting your carbs from vegetables and salad.

But above all - good luck!

I have put on 3lb :(

I have been sticking to bc light but possibly not having enough water. I’ve also been having the granola most mornings with yogurt. So it could’ve that. Had 2 small glasses white wine and soda yesterday too.

I’ll measure myself later but I don’t feel any different in my jeans.

Haworthia · 18/02/2019 11:00

The fact that you won't list out your food/drink is, I think, very revealing. Are you seriously telling me that you're following all the rules but still not losing weight?

See, this is where “support” crosses over into outright unpleasantness BIWI and that’s why I’m not prepared to list everything. Yes I am following bootcamp rules. Although yesterday as I sat in a cafe with my kids, I obviously eschewed cake but DID order a cappuccino. I drizzled a tablespoon of almond butter (4.3g per 100g) over yoghurt (3.6g per 100g) later than afternoon. I had two G&Ts that evening. If those are big enough transgressions then so be it, I’ll be staying the same indefinitely.

jellycatspyjamas · 18/02/2019 11:14

Is it ok if I join in at the half way mark please? I’m in need of dropping a bit of weight before I need to show my legs in public again and LFHC has worked well for me before.

I’m trawling the recipes just now and planning my meals accordingly - hoping I find it as easy (in terms of not feeling hungry) as I have before.

Checking in at 192.6, will update spreadsheet later in the week as can't get the app to work on my phone. 1lb loss and was lower on Fri but more used to the variation now! Seem to have ended up with a lot more eating out than is ideal in half term but have been able to plan and should be OK. Postponed Valentine's meal is tonight too!

B - boiled eggs and butter
L - some sort of salad from Coco di Mama
D - Flat iron steak with herb butter, roasted veg and spinach

Siameasy · 18/02/2019 12:13

I have renamed this WOE the piss diet as it’s all I seem to do these days

MrsFionaCharming · 18/02/2019 12:21

I’ve maintained this week, but looking at what I’m eating I think it’s probably too much dairy / cheese, so I’m going to cut down on that this week and see how I go.

tootstastic · 18/02/2019 12:21

Hi all, just catching up with the thread after a super busy week.

I lost 1.8lbs on the scales this morning, it feels like weight loss has slowed down a bit for me though, so I'm going to watch my portion sizes and try to drink more water.

It all seems like such a long slog, but I know I just have to keep going. 131 lbs to lose altogether.....lost 45.2 lbs, 85.8 lbs to go.

I have days where I feel much slimmer and other days when I still feel enormous. It's weird how it changes by the day and must just be psychological. For me, I think this has always been a battle in the head rather than the body and my head seems to fuck with me daily at the moment. People are noticing I've lost weight though, so I must be looking better overall, I just need to keep my impatience in check and plod on.

KOKO everyone!

BIWI · 18/02/2019 12:59

I'm sorry you think I'm unpleasant, @Haworthia. It's not meant to be. But it's frustrating seeing you complain about not losing weight.

The first time, you did list out what you'd been doing, and it was clear that you weren't following the rules. You didn't like me pointing that out.

You've now posted again (twice more, I think?) about not losing, or bouncing up and down by the same amount, and yet when I ask you to say what you've been eating/drinking so that I can try and help you, you won't do it.

If you're following the rules and it's not working for you, then I'm sorry for that. I can only do so much.

Look, I understand BIWI. Bootcamp is your baby and when people complain that they aren’t losing weight, it must feel like they’re criticising you and your method. I’m not. If anything, I’m criticising my own metabolism which seems so sensitive to the smallest increase in carbs. For example, so far today all I’ve eaten is a couple of fathead “crackers” with chive Philadelphia and that’s kicked me out of ketosis... I checked.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 18/02/2019 13:20

haworthia how are you clothes feeling, any change there, any looseness? Could you be losing fat and replacing the weight with muscle which will give a slimmer figure but same weight?

Does this woe build muscle even when not exercising? ( asking hopefully)

Burnshersmurfs · 18/02/2019 13:29

Haworthia, I can’t remember if I mentioned this you you before- I know I meant to- but I’m really sensitive to carbs from dairy and that seems to cause me to stall if I’m eating too much cheese, youghurt, etc. Have you tried leaving off the phili for a bit?

StuntNun · 18/02/2019 13:47

Haworthia some of us do need to be more strict to get good results. I have to keep carbs low, not have too much dairy, and alcohol is a real problem for me wrt weight loss. The only comfort I can offer is that it isn't forever. When you get to your maintenance weight you can add back some things and you won't feel so deprived as you do now. I suggest giving yourself a solid week staying on plan and see whether that gets the scales moving again.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 18/02/2019 13:57

If anything, I’m criticising my own metabolism which seems so sensitive to the smallest increase in carbs.

@Haworthia I am exactly the same. Zero tolerance for sugar, carbs and alcohol. It takes me months to lose a few pounds - look at my spreadsheet results!

My only comfort is that (1) overall it's a healthier way to eat and (2) being as strict as possible means that I'm not gaining weight.

I live with the metabolic opposite. DH is a 6'1" rake who loses weight if he goes too long between breakfast and elevenses. I could cheerfully murder him every time he offers me a biscuit or bakes a batch of scones!

BIWI · 18/02/2019 15:22

The thing is, though, @Haworthia, you don't look like you have much weight to lose - going by what you've entered on the spreadsheet.

Are you sure you aren't at a maintenance level? In which case it would be pretty normal for your weight to fluctuate a little bit - both up and down.

That said, if you know you are ultra sensitive to carbs, then by drinking your cappuccino and G&Ts, then you're sabotaging your best efforts.

I am at work. I have been sitting 8 feet away from a large plate of chocolate chip cookies for 5 hours. I have not eaten one crumb. Do I get a Star?

Mimosa1 · 18/02/2019 16:24

 from me @UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea !

I've just treated myself to some nice new work tops and a coat. I really love the coast - it's king and warm and black (and rather slimming ). Still a long way to go but I'll koko.

halfwitpicker · 18/02/2019 16:29

I bet you wonder why you bother, BIWI!

MrsTerryPratcett · 18/02/2019 16:32

Finally had a bit more loss after stagnating for a few weeks. I think I've worked out that I can be a little lax on alcohol OR dairy OR portion sizes but not all three!

Slow and steady wins the race, right?

nowlook · 18/02/2019 16:41

@MrsTerryPratcett
Yes, me too I think. I've a habit of reaching for the cheese if I can't be bothered to make a proper meal. Trying to experiment to find the sweet spot, so no dairy for me today.

LazydaysofSummer · 18/02/2019 16:58

One lb on for me today but then I did have more wine than intended this weekend as we had an unexpected child free night!

But away from the scales, at the half way stage of boot camp I've lost five inches from my waist, three inches from the belly and two inches off my hips, which I'm very, very pleased about!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 18/02/2019 17:34

Wow @LazydaysofSummer congratulations that's awesome!

DangerousMouse · 18/02/2019 17:41

I was a fuckwit last week, my own fault. I'm not entering my weight today, but I'm back on it and remembering that I have lost over 9kg in total so far, not focusing my self sabotage of last week.

CognitiveDissonance · 18/02/2019 18:02

Hello everyone!
I've gained a little this week but it was definitely to be expected as I wasn't as disciplined as I intended to be at my friends stag do Blush. I did feel amazing in my dress though as opposed to the bloated mess I usually feel when I go out.
To focus on the positives though, I don't feel shit about it because a) it wasn't eating crap food for comfort and b) I've been able to get straight back on track. Both of those things are as important to me as losing weight given my history of an unhealthy relationship with food.
This morning I did a fasted workout at the gym (god bless half term!) and I started 16/8 as planned, so far so good!

B- coffee
L- burger with avocado, cheese and fried egg
D- beef mince with broccoli
