Low-carb bootcamp

Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - only 3 weeks to go!

Morning all.

Here, hopefully, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Let's just hope this one works Smile

So we have three weeks left. Still time to see a good loss before our final weigh-in. This weather, I think, makes it all easier - so much easier to choose a salad when it's hot. And barbecues are perfect for low carbing (if you're a meat eater, of course!)

We had a barbecue yesterday and we had:

home-made chilli burgers (12% fat organic mince, chopped shallot, chopped red chilli, dried oregano and salt and pepper, whizzed up in the processor to combine). I had mine without the bun, obviously!

chicken thighs, skin-on, that had been marinated in a spice mix (ground cumin, ground coriander, ground ginger, turmeric, chilli powder, oregano, salt and pepper, all mixed in with olive oil and fresh lime juice to make a paste that was then rubbed all over the chicken)

coconut cod** - a lovely recipe I found in one of my barbecue books. Fish marinated in coconut cream, that had been infused with lime, garlic, ginger, shallot and lime juice - bring all that to the boil and simmer for around 10 minutes; cool and then use as a marinade for the fish, which you then cook on the barbecue in a foil parcel.

And sausages. Because you can't have a barbecue without sausages!

Anyway, plenty left over, so I'm taking chicken and sausages to work for my lunch.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Great to hear about your ideal blood pressure, @chocchip88!

Posted this at the end of last week's thread...just as BIWI must have added the new chat thread, so have moved it over:

Hello everyone...I've not been on much (at all?!) this week due to crazy end of term stuff at school and being generally knackered from it all (sports day, open day, reports, Summer Fayre 😩). On Saturday I had a surprise leaving party organised by the TA, parents and children of my class...which has thrown my eating plan RIGHT into the lions den! Bless their hearts, 30 little faces all watching as I 'eagerly' tucked into ham sandwiches, crisps, sausage rolls and homemade cupcakes 😩🤷‍♀️

Nothing in the world could have made me tell them, 'sorry, I can't eat any of this!' (Not a salad leaf or babybel in sight 😳). They were SO excited and proud of keeping it all secret from me, after apparently planning this for weeks. I sobbed my heart out...love these little munchkins ♥️

My insides, however, are still not recovered...is this normal? The noises/gurgling are truly exceptional 😳

I'm down a pound, but wouldn't be surprised if Saturday's 'treat' doesn't rear up and bite me on the arse (literally and metaphorically!) next week!

Morning all.

So for my Monday morning weigh-in I'm..... 6lbs up!! ShockBlush Totally justified as I was off work last week and had rellies visiting so there have been a few carb-heavy days. We've been out and about a lot so limited lunch options and very little water due to lack of toilets. I tried my best to keep on track but I've also been drinking alcohol every day last week Blush

I think hope these 6lbs are mostly water weight but let this be an example to all of you what happens when you don't drink enough water or eat enought fat!!

Disappointed in myself but looking forward to getting back into routine this week. KOKO!

Finally a lowest weight on a Monday even if it did take a bowel movement then second weigh to get there 122.8lbs. Probably not been this low since 2015 when I was last at goal. My current average is to lose 1.5lbs per month albeit lots of ups and downs so in theory goal of 120lbs by September. However think this may need revising down (very small frame) so we'll see. BMI at 120 is 21.3 but there's still plenty of wobble!

I'm off on holiday from Sunday to the following Monday so I'll miss the next two weigh ins and then have a sprint to the finish for a decent final weight! Give me strength in the face of baguettes and jam.

Good morning, thanks for the new thread.
I can't believe how the weeks have gone by so fast and we're in week 8.
I'm two down this week brining my total on bootcamp to just over a stone and 38 since I started last March. I Also hit a mini goal of been under 100kg.

Have the total % lost on the spread sheet not treated in the last couple of weeks or am I looking at it wrong?

Morning everyone. I've been absent because I've been away on holiday and was ill with vertigo the second half it. So, I pretty much wasn't on the internet anywhere and just had to muddle through. I'm back to Week 6 weights after my holiday and I'm sticking to hydrating and eating light foods this week.

In terms of food today, breakfast will be salad, cold rotisserie chicken and some jasmine iced tea I made yesterday.

For lunch or dinner, I'm going to make this salad and throw some hot-smoked salmon on top for added protein: www.eatingwell.com/recipe/251151/asparagus-baby-kale-caesar-salad/. It has 17g of fat just from the homemade dressing alone.

My lowest weight for a year! 10st 13lbs. I still have a way to go to get to my ideal weight but it feels achievable for the first time. I think the amount of carbs I ate previously (lots!) has helped with the initial loss so I know it'll slow now but I'm determined!

I've had a few days of carby twatdom due to birthday/hangover/poor organisation. Digestive system does not feel healthy and so bloated. Got back on track last night though. No scales here so thankfully don't know what damage I've done!

Morning. 3lbs down today, after yo-young up and down the same three or four pounds above for what seems like bloody WEEKS. So today I'm 11stone exactly and officially a 'normal' BMI instead of 'overweight'. I know BMI isn't everything, but it's a milestone for me. And it means the next pound off sees me in the 10s, which I will be ecstatic about. This is the lightest I've been for about ten years. More, probably. It's been such hard work this BC, but I'm glad I've stuck with it. Sixty pounds gone and only one tiny little stone to go now... Smile

(Could someone please add 154 to the spreadsheet for me please - I'm away and can't enter it from my iPad - thanks.)

Another 2lbs off - making around 1stone 10lbs off, this Boot Camp has been fantastic, thanks so much to BIWI and others for the support and motivation.

I have yo-yo'd dieted all my life (now 60) but properly getting into LC has worked really well for me, haven't felt I am missing out at all (and I do have the odd glass of wine and occasional non LC meal Blush).

Did rather over indulge in fruit yesterday - at a function where there was very little LC food except for quiche - left the pastry - and cheese and pineapple on sticks but at least that meant good results in the bathroom this morning ..... Grin.

Well done everyone.

I'm 4lbs down but only from last week's carby gain, so effectively the same weight I was 11th June. A bit depressing, but things are now moving in the right direction. Very much hoping I can get and keep two more pounds off to make it a 10lb loss this BC and bring me back below the 200lb mark. (But ideally would be six more pounds to make it a stone off!)

I’m practically the same as I was last Monday, which is annoying as I was a pound and a half less a couple of days ago.

Despite enjoying 3 glasses of Pimms yesterday, I'm holding at a lb down for the last two days. And if it goes up tomorrow, it's my own fault! Enjoying this woe and on the whole, not finding it too tough.

This thread is amazing motivation - thanks BIWI and everyone who contributes.

Going to book my diabetes test now - hopefully it'll still be ok.

58.9 so that weird blip last week was definitely period related as i’ve lost the blip plus an extra 200g.
More importantly I have lost 2 inches from my hips, 2 inches from my waist and an inch from my bust whilst only losing 1kg(!)
I do have an oddly flat bum now which I have never had in my life...
I really wish I had done some before photos. I just never thought I would stick to this so didn’t bother!
I’m also only 900g from target but have many wobbly bits still so we will see.

Well done everybody on losing or maintaining and generally KOKO. Good work abbey on the target reaching - I have found mini targets really useful

Morning :-) off on holiday this week, so haven't weighed in on the usual scales at work, will try and find some.
Really pleased with how things are working and enjoying this WOE, which is brilliant. However, I'd started to notice what I thought were perimenopause symptoms over the last 6 months and they've got a whole lot worse since the start of boot camp. Really painful ovulation, bloating, mood swings, low level nausea. Feel like I'm in early pregnancy today, without the option of salty crispy snacks to settle things down!
I know that fat stores release hormones as they're lost, but do things eventually settle down? Or should I be going to my GP? And will HRT do anything if there's excess hormones floating about anyway? Any advice would be very welcome!
🤢 - pukey holiday travel face!

1.5lb down today Smile - to 11st 8 1/4lb . Only just over a pound to go to get to a stone off this Boot Camp Smile

Another pound and that would be 3.5 stone since I started last May Shock

Really don't deserve the loss this week though, given the amount of alcohol I had over the weekend Blush It'll probably come back to haunt me on the scales over the coming week Hmm

Upyakilt - in my experience, it did settle down. But everyone's bodies and hormones are different.
