Week 8 - Low Carb Bootcamp - only 3 weeks to go!

Morning all.

Here, hopefully, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Let's just hope this one works Smile

So we have three weeks left. Still time to see a good loss before our final weigh-in. This weather, I think, makes it all easier - so much easier to choose a salad when it's hot. And barbecues are perfect for low carbing (if you're a meat eater, of course!)

We had a barbecue yesterday and we had:

home-made chilli burgers (12% fat organic mince, chopped shallot, chopped red chilli, dried oregano and salt and pepper, whizzed up in the processor to combine). I had mine without the bun, obviously!

chicken thighs, skin-on, that had been marinated in a spice mix (ground cumin, ground coriander, ground ginger, turmeric, chilli powder, oregano, salt and pepper, all mixed in with olive oil and fresh lime juice to make a paste that was then rubbed all over the chicken)

coconut cod** - a lovely recipe I found in one of my barbecue books. Fish marinated in coconut cream, that had been infused with lime, garlic, ginger, shallot and lime juice - bring all that to the boil and simmer for around 10 minutes; cool and then use as a marinade for the fish, which you then cook on the barbecue in a foil parcel.

And sausages. Because you can't have a barbecue without sausages!

Anyway, plenty left over, so I'm taking chicken and sausages to work for my lunch.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Great to hear about your ideal blood pressure, @chocchip88!

Hi all ( formerly known as Bingefest ) - well done to the losers . Pretty Bird 3.5 stone is an amazing achievement and you are still losing !
My weight has gone up so not putting it on spreadsheet until later in the week - like me others I’ve been losing and gaining the same 3-4 lbs for some weeks now but I’m really happy as I don’t feel deprived - I love LCHF- and I love not being controlled by my appetite ! Also this has got to be a WOE for me and not a diet . I could follow BC rules ( light )permanently if I always had access to my own fridge .
It’s the SOS situations ( Socially Obliged Sugar ) which are so difficult to handle. The next few weeks are going to be interesting as everyone dives off on holidays with limited access to LCHF foods . I’m off at the weekend to carby scout camp but will obsessively check the thread so keep on posting everyone ! I just love the recipes and success stories .. and reading how other people avoid SOS .

Two pictures, almost exactly a year apart: one 7 July last year (when, iirc, I was c14 stone) and the other last night, at 11st 8.5lb. Halo

fat stores release hormones as they're lost, but do things eventually settle down?

I didn't know that. Interesting!

Wow, prettybird. That's a wonderful change.

Ive lost 1lb which is fine as I've had a few bad carbs this week, but more importantly I'm only 1lb away from my goal weight which was 10 stone! 😀

I had a piece of toast on Sat and I felt dreadful later on, about half an hour later my heart was beating fast and really pounding in my chest, has anyone else had a weird reaction after eating wheat?

Swit swoo prettybird look at you all relaxed and happy with those fabulous legs on show.
Well done all your work has paid off greatly.
It's always heartening to read stories from those who've been on this woe of eating sometime and have turned it from a diet into lifestyle. It gives me hope that I'll be able to maintain in future rather than my usual approach of eat/diet, repeat, repeat and give up cause I'm sick of it the whole process.

Technical query: I loved checking my percentage loss each time I entered. However, it seems to have stopped working this out now (the last time it did so was on the 18th June entry column). Not just in mine...but on everyone's. Is this because of the glitch last week perhaps?

Motherofdragaons didn't anyone enter a HFLC cake for the competition?

That's great, DestinysDaughter. I occasionally eat bread but have never had the symptoms you've experienced.

UpYaKit it can take several months for hormone levels to regulate again so it's probably worth giving things a bit longer before consulting your GP.

Afternoon all, is it ok if I slink back in quietly? I haven’t been on the threads for the last 3 weeks I think (how did it get to week 8 so quickly!!). I have however been sticking to BC light and am still feeling good and positive about this woe. I’m going to weigh in tomorrow as i always weighed on a Tuesday to give me an extra day to get over the weekend so fingers crossed. To be honest though i feel so much better in general, lots of energy and in control of food instead of the other way round, that I will stick at it no matter what. I’ve also joined a gym in the last month (adding to my busyness) so am feeling fitter and stronger too. Fab to read all your inspiring posts as always and fab pics pretty

@Goodasgoldilox no! I nearly posted a photo but then realised that would be very mean and stupid on a diet thread Grinhonestly though some are amazing but all very very bad Shock

STS for the second week running! I did have a slightly carby week last week which I was annoyed about but back on it now, so maybe I'll not see much progress next week either.

Well done to abbey

And to prettybird that transformation is amazing.

Would someone mind updating the spreadsheet for me? I'm away and can't open it on my phone, 172.4.

MysteryNameChange yes it's unpleasant isn't it? I tested my heart rate on DP's Fitbit and my heart rate had gone up to 90! I've been trying to find out what causes it and think it's something to do with histamines being released and then to counteract that, the body then releases cortisol to damp it down.

Could someone put me in as 116.1 please? Advantage to not eating is losing. It will all apart back on next week though. Hey ho!

Some fab losses again and lots of positivity. Great photos pretty - love a before and after!

Well after my moaning that i’d stalled last week i’m 2.75lbs down this week and 16lbs down in total since starting BC so i’m a happy chappie today! Grin

I wonder if it would be helpful for people to see losses over a period of time to see it doesn’t just come off linearly. Like the graph, but the actual amounts? Here are mine anyway for this BC in case anyone’s interested. It really helps me to see that there will be STSs and there will be small gains but if you KOKO it will all add up:

Week 1: 6lbs loss
Week 2: 3.25lbs loss
Week 3: 1lb gain
Week 4: 3.25lbs loss
Week 5: 1.75lbs loss
Week 6: STS
Week 7: 2.75lbs loss

A whole half pound.

But it is a loss so I'll take it.

I'm noticing a change in my body shape though. One more chin gone, one cup size down on my back boobs - front ones the same and there is a sniff of a waist. Just a waft of one. Happy days.

I still haven't succumbed to that co-op chocolate.

So I put on 2.8 pounds BUT I finally had a bloody big breakfast even tho I wasn’t that hungry (typically I have black coffee and I like that). Bloody hell. I don’t want anything else today. How did that happen? Maybe I’ve not been eating enough, and maybe the dairy is ok? I have been eating a typical plateful or so I thought, but maybe I haven’t been full enough? (I hate feeling really full).
Gosh this is one long mystery for me. I will keep trying this, this week. I honestly haven’t been carbing and the weight is coming off so slowly.
