Morning all.

Here, hopefully, is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Let's just hope this one works Smile

So we have three weeks left. Still time to see a good loss before our final weigh-in. This weather, I think, makes it all easier - so much easier to choose a salad when it's hot. And barbecues are perfect for low carbing (if you're a meat eater, of course!)

We had a barbecue yesterday and we had:

home-made chilli burgers (12% fat organic mince, chopped shallot, chopped red chilli, dried oregano and salt and pepper, whizzed up in the processor to combine). I had mine without the bun, obviously!

chicken thighs, skin-on, that had been marinated in a spice mix (ground cumin, ground coriander, ground ginger, turmeric, chilli powder, oregano, salt and pepper, all mixed in with olive oil and fresh lime juice to make a paste that was then rubbed all over the chicken)

coconut cod** - a lovely recipe I found in one of my barbecue books. Fish marinated in coconut cream, that had been infused with lime, garlic, ginger, shallot and lime juice - bring all that to the boil and simmer for around 10 minutes; cool and then use as a marinade for the fish, which you then cook on the barbecue in a foil parcel.

And sausages. Because you can't have a barbecue without sausages!

Anyway, plenty left over, so I'm taking chicken and sausages to work for my lunch.

Hope everyone has a good week.

Great to hear about your ideal blood pressure, @chocchip88!

Only 0.4lb down this week. Scales have been a bit up and down on week 7. Only 3.2lb to get to my 9.5 at target. I'm KOKO to hopefully slowly chip away at the ounces. Have a great week everyone. 🥦🍗🥓🥚

Just wanted to say, I'm soo glad I dis this! I'd put on about a stone since I met my DP a year ago, he loves baking and sweet things and is a bit of a feeder and by Xmas I was my heaviest weight ever, 11 stone 12. I am an apple shape, so put weight on my stomach and also have a bad back so really need to watch my weight. We decided to have a competition in the new year to see who could lose the most weight, I'd done LCHF many years before, when it was the much derided Atkins diet and had lost 2 stone then, so knew it worked. DP was v sceptical of it so he used the Slimming World methodology. 2 friends also joined us, we all weighed ourselves every Sat morning and posted our results on Whatsapp. The competition was to last 3 months. Me and DP lost about the same amount of weight, the 2 friends fell off the wagon and DP has now put back on all the weight he'd lost!

Although it felt good to win, the real win is losing the weight, consistently losing and keeping it off. I haven't been my current weight since 2012 ( when I went to India and lost 2 stone in 4 months! ) It feels so good Smile

KOKO everyone!

This is the chart DP did every week of our weight loss, I'm the orange one!

Fab chart, Destiny!

oldbirdy · 02/07/2018 20:26

Weighed in, was a maintain, but had been 2lb down ; 2lb went on overnight on Thursday evening but coming up to TOTM so I am chalking it up to that. I think I probably need to drink even more water in this hot weather.

Question, I often don't get to eat my evening meal until very late, will be 9:30 or so this evening for instance. Is this a problem? By eating late, am I taking in those calories just to have them convert into flab overnight?

Twoo · 02/07/2018 20:55

Thank you for the new thread BIWI.

Great stories! I’ve enjoyed reading all the progress that’s being made.

Prettybird. Fantastic photos, well done! Very inspiring!

149.2. Down .2 since last week.

Chocchip88 · 02/07/2018 21:00

Well done prettybird you look ace! I love seeing people’s before and after photos. Really inspiring.

borowren · 02/07/2018 21:09

I moaned plenty yesterday, so won't do it again today!
I'm the same weight as last week, so 12lbs down since start of bootcamp.
Just keep plodding on.

BIWI · 02/07/2018 22:19

That's fantastic, @DestinysDaughter

Thanks for the reassurance, I'll hang on in there! 🤢

qumquat · 03/07/2018 06:51

12 down is fantastic borowren! And well done destinysdaughter that chart is amazing!

I'm struggling at the mo as getting far too hungry. I think I need to massively up my fat at lunch as I keel over mid afternoon. Taking a block of butter into work today to slather over everything!

BIWI · 03/07/2018 07:10

What are you eating @qumquat? And what about breakfast?

Morning all!

Really inspiring to see the photos and how far people have come! So pleased for everyone!

I slid off the wagon last night and had some of DSs lovingly prepared cake. It was delicious but within an hour I felt like I needed to sleep! Am down half a pound despite this, this morning so that’s 22 since the start. V pleased.

Gammeldragz · 03/07/2018 08:07

Thanks BIWI for the new thread.
Northern my tummy feels dodgy for several days following carbs now, enough to put me off most of the time.

I'm 0.4lbs down, had been nearly 2lb but wine, hard work and heat over the weekend have pushed me back up. That's OK though, I'm still in the swing of it and haven't been a carby twat at all for a month now, feeling good.

Rshard · 03/07/2018 08:44

Won’t manage to weigh in until Thursday but so lovely to read about all the successes on here.

I’m in the way to Birmingham for a work meeting but hoping to squeeze in a quick trip to Cos, as it’s the closest one to me despite being 50 miles or so from home

LeapinLizards · 03/07/2018 08:51

Thanks for the new thread. I'm down 3lbs this week, which I'm delighted about. I have one more weigh-in before my friend's wedding and I'll go off piste for those few days. Bit worried to read that @Gammeldragz and @northern and I'm sure others have spoken about feeling ill after carbs having done this WOE for so long. I don't want to feel ill while I'm at the wedding weekend.
@prettybird, those pics are amazing. You look like a different person. Huge congrats to @destinysdaughter - you beat the others hands down! Well done to everyone else who has lost and, those who didn't this week, hope the whoosh fairy comes along for next week. Grin

prettybird · 03/07/2018 08:56

I don't seem to react badly to carbs unfortunately Blush

#justsaying Grin

Fortunately I'm a moderator, not an abstainer, so can go off piste briefly , enjoy the carbs mindfully Wink and then KOKO.

I know not everyone is the same.

LeapinLizards · 03/07/2018 09:23

I think I'll be a moderator too @prettybird. It makes it much easier to see this as a way of life if I can have carbs every so often. I find it hardest of all when I visit people and go out for food (I'm vegetarian so pasta or pastry things are often the veggie option) so I'd like to be able to just forget LC when I do either of those things. It happens infrequently enough that I won't balloon (I hope!!!!)

bibliomania · 03/07/2018 09:51

Thanks to those who posted graphs/numbers showing that the downward trend isn't linear. It's encouraging as I've found myself going up and down the same few pounds. I do know why, having spent the weekend piling into vats of raspberries and cream washed down with white wine.

I'm thinking about cutting out breakfast, so that I'm doing 16:8. I'm reading Breakfast is a dangerous meal, by Terence Kealey, who suggests that this a good idea. I'll wait till the end of boot-camp, but I feel I need to put in place a new rule, just to keep me focused and stop me drifting into bad habits. I intend to keep up a mostly LCHF woe even after bootcamp, as on the whole I like it, although I really want to allow an occasional bag of salt and vinegar crisps.

Rshard · 03/07/2018 10:14

You see I always considered myself an abstained but this woe has taught me that I can be a moderator too. I think being a moderator and having the odd carb will be how I maintain.

Just bought a size 10 dress!

itchyknees · 03/07/2018 10:54

“Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, dine like a pauper.” Alternatively.

bibliomania · 03/07/2018 11:21

Hi itchy, the author does debunk the origins of that phrase. I'm not sure I completely agree with the whole book - I'm wondering if there needs to be a bit more nuance in relation to how the two sexes respond. But I'm up for a bit of experimentation to see if it works for me.

itchyknees · 03/07/2018 13:54

Oh! I like it because I can remember it! And if I eat late I get rotten indigestion so a massive breakfast does nicely for me! Grin

I’m liking your raspberry and cream and wine diet though! Yum!

LeapinLizards · 03/07/2018 14:01

@bibliomania, I skip breakfast pretty much everyday (aside from 2 coffees with unsweetened almond milk which is nil carbs & 2 calories or something equally tiny) & have an early lunch. I aim for 16:8 & mostly manage it without much effort (though, if I am hungry, I eat).

clare8allthepies · 03/07/2018 14:12

I’m not a breakfaster either, I can easily go until 11-12 without eating and not feel especially hungry it if I do eat early on then I’m still hungry again a couple of hours later!

I have some ribs in the slow cooker as an experiment, just had a lick of the sauce and it’s not tasting very barbecuey. I might add a few more bits to it and see what that does.
