Anyone got any Adult DC with no tattoos

Has anyone got any young adult children who don't have tattoos and don't like them. My DS who is 21 said that he's never getting a tattoo as he doesn't like them. It made wonder how common are tattoos nowadays?

One.. out of four!
But he has autism and has no interest in either decorating himself or being in with any crowd!
The other three (aged 27-29) all have tattoos. The girls are both medical professionals and theirs are not visible unless they are undressed. DS1's however are on his arms.
I always think they'll regret them but what do I know..I'm ancient :D

It’s very common but equally not having tattoos is common

Hemingwaycat · 02/09/2021 16:42

I think most people under 40 have at least one but it may just be the people I know. I have an arm sleeve, DH has a few on his thighs and one on his inner bicep. We’re middle class radio 4 listening bores so not wild in any way but we are in our 20s.

DrManhattan · 02/09/2021 16:43

Mine don't have any as they find them a bit basic these days lol

Homemadearmy · 02/09/2021 16:46

My ds 28 has just got his first tattoo, dd 29 doesn't have any.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 02/09/2021 16:46

I have one adult son who doesn't have any and isn't interested in getting any. One has a few, the other is too young still, but so far not interested. .

I'd say it's the under 30s that mostly have them In my experience. Im one of 7 siblings, all under 40. Only 2 of us have tats. Actually 2 are under 30 and tat free too. Only 2 of my 5 adult cousins have them. The adult dc of most of my friends (all under 30) have have though. DS1 is planning one as soon as he's old enough.

Personally I think tattoos are starting to look dated generally
Just went mad didn't it for a decade or so Amy Winehouse brought it in I think
I think people 20 and under 'gen alpha' will reject tattoos for clear skin as tattoos be seen as frumpy
Often wondered if any health impact of having tattoo ink in the skin long term. Never see anything about it.

PlanDeRaccordement · 02/09/2021 16:48

I have three adult DC, none with tattoos. I think tattoos are more common among British than French though.

spanieleyes · 02/09/2021 16:48

Neither of my sons ( 29 and 27) have tattoos, mind you they don't smoke, one doesn't drink and the other only rarely, don't do drugs and don't sleep around. I think we have a boring family!

Neither ds1 who is 25 and ds2 who is 22 have tat.
Ds1 went through a phrase when he was mid teens wanting one. I told him if he gets on he starts paying board. He left home a few years later but had outgrown the idea of getting one. He says he's not interested now.
Ds2 has never been interested.

LegendaryReady · 02/09/2021 16:50

Mine are 18 & 20 and show no interest at all. TBH I've not really noticed any on their friends, I'm not sure it is a thing among the current young people like it has been over the last couple of decades.

Late DH had lots of tattoos so there's no rebelion in it for them, probably even seems old fashioned.

I’m not sure why you think tattoos have got anything to do with number of sexual partners?
senua · 02/09/2021 16:50

Mine don't (to my knowledge).
Neither does DD's other half.
DS's other half does; a small cliche one.
DD's bff has a few but I don't think that any of her other friends have any.
Don't think DS's friends do either.

DancesWithTortoises · 02/09/2021 16:50

Neither DS's have them. Both dislike them.

ssd · 02/09/2021 16:50

Mine have no tattoos. Too much sense.

SusanBAnthony999 · 02/09/2021 16:51

Mine are 21 -30 and have no interest in tattoos.

VapeVamp12 · 02/09/2021 16:51

To some of the parents on here saying their kids don't have any. I am 35, I have seven tattoos and my parents have never seen any of them!

GoodnightGrandma · 02/09/2021 16:52

My DS had a matching tattoo with an ex 🙄 I only spotted it after they’d split.
My oldest used to want one, but now says she’s glad she never did.

Wandawide · 02/09/2021 16:52

Not, DD DS and nothing visible on DDiL. All 40ish

Samcro · 02/09/2021 16:52

Ds has loads
Dd none, but she has sn

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/09/2021 16:53

Ds doesn't and neither do any of his mates.

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/09/2021 16:53

2/3 of my young adults don't and the one who does has a tiny unsophisticated tattoo done on a teenage holiday that is in a place never exposed in public. They haven't had any more.

Bichette · 02/09/2021 16:53

DC 26 has a couple discreet ones.
DC 24 has none.
