I didn’t think I’d be rich but I am cringing at my Facebook ‘memories’ and pretty sure everyone was laughing at me behind my back.

What's an mlm?

To be honest, people probably were. At least you’re out of it now.

Multi level marketing I think.

You aren't the first and you won't be the last to fall for a MLM

at least you got out in the end and saw the light.

I cringe my arse off at any of my friends with their mlm stuff, and I don't like it because the person doing it is also trying to rope others in. So I can't comfort you sorry.

Pretty sure some were. Some were concerned and some just didn't give a f.

At least it's behind you? That's a positive

Not being snarky - truly - but I'd love to know what made you think it was a good idea in the first place?

They were probably are more relieved its stopped to be honest. My friend did it, I often wonder if she realised she got no likes, lost friends and sounded like a bit of a knob but I still love her Grin and I am just glad she's out of it. Put it behind you and move on huniliated , there is no point stressing about things you can't change

Which one was it?

A friend has just started selling some diet shit. She's very naive and has been drawn into a supposed friendship group where they all do it. There's so many of them it's impossible to convince her they're anything but genuine.

How much did you lose ?

The"I had a nutrition training ( 5 page document from forever) and so I can tell you that you need this natural (735 god knows what ingredients) aloe (2%) product so you don't look like shit (you look fine, but I look shit since I can't afford soap till some of you buy something).".

Which company? I’m sorry you lost out financially I think these things are really exploitative.

OK, mlm is a scam, and turns people into bots. The likelihood is that you have annoyed a lot of people and they will have been rolling their eyes.

However. If you apologise to anyone you have hounded or pressured, make it clear you are no longer involved in mlm and stop posting inspirational bollocks, I'm sure people will forgive you.

Check out blogs like Elle Beau and you'll see that lots of people get sucked into these scams. You aren't alone, nor are you uniquely foolish or gullible. These scams prey on people's weakness and target those at a low ebb. Forgive yourself, make such reparations as you can (apologies and refunds where appropriate) and move on from it.

We have a few friends that have done MLM. I'll be honest with you, I've never liked their posts or bought anything but I haven't laughed at them.

I'm sorry you are broke but hold your head high and put it down to expierences. If people bring it up find an inner strength and make light of it.

Serves you right.

Send everyone you tried to sell to an apology.

I really think that MLMs prey on people. They cause people to lose friends and get more broke in most cases. And the people who end up buying are the ones who are least able to say no.

I have a friend that I avoid because she invited us for coffee (not in her home, in a room where it was difficult to exit and you couldn’t avoid the issue). Only it wasn’t just coffee. It was MLM. Many friends trapped by her like this. I think it was like £20 for some crappy shampoo Angry.

Don't worry so many people have been there!!
I nearly joined forever living when I was 18 luckily my dad looked into it and put me straight.
I have a friend doing body shop at the minute and it's so awful! She's getting no likes putting raffles on every day and begging people to buy tickets. I've had to unfollow her.

You could just share on of your Facebook memories and say something like "Ah there is nothing like a facebook memory to remind you of what a twat you once were! Apologies to all the heads I wrecked during my short stint as a mlm bot Grin" or similar, acknowledge it, make light of it and put it to bed

A few of my friends have dabbled in MLMs, one in particular was really full on with Juice Plus, taking advantage of her 'family lifestyle' to show off her new way of living and using her kids as guinea pigs and props. It was really sad and cringeworthy but she was brainwashed recruited while on maternity leave by a family member who should have known better. Don't worry OP, you've seen the light. I would apologise for any pestering of your friends though.

The scariest MLM story is that of Shannan Watts in the US, who was murdered by her husband Chris Watts along with her two young children and unborn child in August 2018.

They were a picture perfect MLM family, every single one of Shannan Watts Facebook page talks about her perfect, healthy MLM life, and how they were given a car, and holidays.

The reality was very different, she was earning very little, the holidays were MLM conferences that they had to pay flights for and her husband was having an affair and planning her murder.

Even her husband was in on the MLM selling to friends.
