I'm probably not the first person to observe that the likely reason we're getting this leak now about Trump trying to fire Mueller in June is because Trump is thinking about it again and someone's trying to stop him.

Fox are in a delicious bind (or would be if they had any sense of discomfort) , being in the position to disparage the NY Times reporting of Trump asking Mueller to be fired whilst at the same time their own reporters have confirmed the story. It kicked off with Hannity last night but it's still playing out in a similar way this morning.

Today the White House released a hateful proposal that would slash legal immigration to levels not seen since the racial quotas of the 1920s, eliminate legal channels for African immigrants, and spend $25BIL for a wasteful border wall + increase in Border Patrol and ICE agents.

Stephen Miller has said that his proposal is ‘extremely generous,’ but the only community that benefits from this supposed generosity are white supremacists.

The White House proposal is clearly an effort to sabotage bipartisan talks on the issue by continuing to put issues on the table that are non-starters.

The crisis facing Dreamers and their families is urgent, but addressing it must not come at the expense of using immigrant youth as bargaining chips or devastating border communities. This proposal should be deemed dead on arrival.

Funny how well the misdirection is working. Most punditry re Trump’s ethno-nationalist immigration plan focuses on wall-for-Dreamers tradeoff. But the chainsaw to legal immigration is the rotten core of it. There’s a pattern here. 1/
The GOP’s assault on health care was, centrally, a dismantling of Medicaid. But GOP succeeded in selling it as “ACA repeal,” bc that’s what they’d talked about for years.

Until @NationalADAPT rolled in, few knew about the sneak attack on Medicaid—which was wildly unpopular.

The #TrumpTaxScam was, centrally, a massive, indefensible, and utterly loathed (by the public) giveaway to corporations. But the GOP sold it as “tax reform” & a middle class tax cut. Didn’t even try to argue for the central provision; just changed the subject.

Now, Trump/Kelly/Miller/Cotton want to slam the door on people of color immigrating legally to the United States, even though doing so would be a massive blow to the economy, Social Security and Medicare—hurting people of all races. But they don’t want to talk about it.

Don’t let them even start to get away with this. Don’t let them hide their hatred. Now and until this ugly idea is relegated back to the fringe of American life, turn a blazing spotlight on it and call it out. It’s to me to stand tall with the Statue of Liberty and fight.
