Tell me please what fresh hell is this?

Of course there is a backstory but it culminated with dh being threatened today sad

We live on a new housing estate, we share the entrance to our driveway with two other families....
We have owned the house for 8 years but it has been rented out while we've been abroad. We just recently moved back and discovered that no one now living here is aware that it is in fact a shared entrance but not a shared drive. The parking has been pretty bad and I've had to knock on my ndn1's about 5 times to be able to leave my property as she was parked on it. Interestingly enough this seems to piss my neighbor off confused
I had been getting some building work done, it took about 6 weeks. I informed my neighbors beforehand and wouldn't allow work after 6pm in order to not put the neighbors out to much.
A truck dented my neighbours (2) fence i got it fixed immediately and was mortified and apologetic.
A delivery truck was blocking the exit once by about 5 inches and my neighbor 1 went batshit at me in the street. It was the same neighbor who was consistently blocking me in and i was only ever nice & polite to her when she was on my propertyhmm
My ndn2 stood out on the drive with her dh and dm and shouted over to my gardeners that i was a disgrace for having building materials on ndn1's drive.

Still with me?

When the work was finished i took round wine and a card to both neightbours (i also arranged to get their windows washed to clean any builders dust)and thanked them for their patience. In the card i attached a photo copy of the property boundaries for their information and so they would realise that they were in fact parking on my drive and that I wasn't storing property on ndn1's drive that it was in fact my
property.

So that's the back story ... now this is where it starts to get nasty.
Just to make things better we live opposite a school.
Sometimes a random blocks the drive entrance and uses it as a parking space. Last week i lost my rag and put a note on the windscreen with Pratt stick saying RUDE - this isn't a parking space. (Fucking bastarding mumsnet giving me these ideas)..anyway turns out it was ndn2's visitor...I didn't know blush ...it made no sense, why would he park blocking when the neighbor had 2 spaces on his drive???
Anyway the ndn 2 stopped speaking to us (which really is ok because they were never very nice to us anyway), but unfortunately they added in talking about us loudly so we overhear , stink eyeing us, ignoring us when we greet them....sort of a pack mentality when they have. Visitors...sort of low level intimidation but very unpleasant.
The council put in keep clear signs at our drive entrance yesterday - i requested them about 6 months ago. The ndn2 has gone apoplectic. Now they don't park on their drive at all, they are parking both cars at the entrance to make it difficult for us to leave.
They've now set up toys for their D.C. On the entrance so we would have to ask the D.C. To move them temporarily while we exit.which we did, politely of course...
This has resulted in non dh going mental 'squaring up" pointing in my dh's face calling him names, taunting him, telling him hit me hit me go on...my chest just kept very calm with his hands behind his back....ndn's poor poor ds was crying terribly it was awful begging him to "leave it dad please"....when people walked by the ndn doh cuddled his boy and said to my dh...look what you've done to my poor boy you're scaring him shock....
I have no idea how to deal with this situation.

Any help please?

YABU posting without the diagram - it's a MN rule.

Sounds awful flowers

Have you told the council they are blocking your drive?

Could you afford a letter from a solicitor informing ndn's the drive is yours and that you will contact police if they continue to block your drive and harass you?

It sounds like threatening behaviour, so I would call the police anyway. Take pictures of the cars blocking you to show them.

MrsTerryPratchett Sun 19-Mar-17 15:09:33

Only clicked for the diagram. <sigh>

Sorry to hear there's been actual shouting and carrying on. Sounds awful.

Emster58 Sun 19-Mar-17 15:11:18

It's jut so awful, they have parking for 4 cars on their drive they are parking on the entrance to intimidate us. They leave just enough room for us to get through but we can't get deliveries etc

StewieGMum Sun 19-Mar-17 15:11:41

You need to report the abuse to the police. People like this don't stop being assholes no matter how reasonable you are. You need to start documenting all the interaction. I'd be tempted to put in CCTV as well to catch the abuse. You could pay a lawyer to write a letter but I would go to police to get them to caution neighbour before they get worse.

MrsBungle Sun 19-Mar-17 15:12:59

A diagram is essential to understanding the layout I think!

The ndn dh sounds awful. I'd consider reporting to the police if they are threatening. How stressful. What did they say when you showed them the boundary information? Do they not believe it? confused

Xmasfairy86 Sun 19-Mar-17 15:13:51

I'd get a pen and draw things out for us.

And yes to someone more official advising them of your boundaries

AgathaMystery Sun 19-Mar-17 15:14:49

Diagram pls

Allthebestnamesareused Sun 19-Mar-17 15:14:58

Move house asap! Never buy anywhere with shared anything again. We had similar issues and just won't do shared again!

RandomMess Sun 19-Mar-17 15:19:26

Do these neighbours own or rent the properties?

If rented you need to find out the owner.

I would be looking at solicitors letters, the laws around being able to wheel clamp vehicles parked on your private property...

stupidoctopus Sun 19-Mar-17 15:21:27

Definitely needs a diagram.

Awful to hear that it's come to this though. You could call the police as they are quite intimidating and attempting to incite violence through low level harassment (i.e. Parking in an obtrusive way, leaving kids toys out and forcing you to engage with them). I'm not sure how seriously the police would take it however.

stupidoctopus Sun 19-Mar-17 15:22:59

Random is right. I hadn't thought of solicitors, particularly with a boundary dispute.
Threatening legal action might just spur them on though.

Emster58 Sun 19-Mar-17 15:26:58

I didn't actually show the diagram, I put it in the card and gave them it with the wine.
I could feel their aggression rising this week, my duh has been gone all week and I've been fretting trying to lance whatever it is that's their problem.
Their kids don't look at me they look at the ground it's really terrible. The ndn has been saying that we don't like the D.C. Playing on the driveway as every time we're leaving our propertythey make such a big deal and come on kids quick move..we wave and smile they scowl as do their visitors.
Last Sunday my dog went awol, i asked the D.C. If they'd seem him....they came to tell me where he was.
I bought the D.C. Some sweets to say thank you (aged 11 & 12 ) and took the oppportunity to tell them that there appeared to be a misunderstanding and please don't be uncomfortable with playing on the driveway as it is not an issue for us.

Anyhoooo...of course the dh is shouting to bystanders today that we are stopping his D.C. From playing on the driveway...its just not fucking true..he's actually making shit up to justify his behaviour while clutching his pearls and shouting about the poor children.

Fwiw privately,,,,I don't think they should be playing on the driveway that's what a back garden is for or the park or anywhere else really...it's quite dangerous...however it's their house their D.C. And none of my business

lljkk Sun 19-Mar-17 15:27:24

How much hassle would it be to sell up & buy elsewhere?

LimitedSedition Sun 19-Mar-17 15:29:57

You need cctv, preferably with audio, pronto.

Emster58 Sun 19-Mar-17 15:30:03

Im going to find the actual diagram..
I will post it

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea Sun 19-Mar-17 15:32:24

Do you have any kind of legal cover in your home insurance?

Littleballerina Sun 19-Mar-17 15:33:36

Why are dc playing on a driveway???
Makes me so glad that we live rurally without neighbours.

PunjanaTea Sun 19-Mar-17 15:34:14

Definitely report their threatening behaviour to the police.

Shadowboy Sun 19-Mar-17 15:41:39

It's really hard to understand how it's all laid out. Do they rent or own the houses? How did your tenants find parking there?

dailystuck71 Sun 19-Mar-17 15:42:16

I need a diagram too.

Trollspoopglitter Sun 19-Mar-17 15:42:31

Fuck right off with these demands for a diagram shite. How bloody off putting for posters.

Trunkisareshite Sun 19-Mar-17 15:42:46

This isn't about the parking anymore, they are deliberately intimidating you. I had similar once, I spoke to the police who sent PCSO round which immediately solved the problem, I recommend you do the same. The police were happy to do this as the aim is to stop the situation from escalating further into something more serious/ illegal.

They sound really grim.
