Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

Cucumber on channel 4.

The series was so upbeat and then one of the main characters died from a whack to the head. It wasn't gory or overdone but the simplicity and finality of his death haunted me. I had nightmares over it.

It was made by the guy who did its a sin so if anyone liked that they'll love cucumber as it's pretty similar.

This. I thought about the episode for weeks afterwards, and so did everyone I know who watched it.

Sun and Jin from Lost always gets to me too.

Roomba · 23/04/2021 18:46

I don't even know the character's name, but Alf Roberts' first wife in Corrie Grin I was unfortunate enough to see her car crash death when I was about six and it traumatised me! I refused to watch Corrie for years and would run upstairs and hide whenever the theme tune was in TV. Showing my age there.

Agree the death in Cucumber was horrible.

MindBodyChocolate · 23/04/2021 18:46

Paul in eastenders. I loved his flawed character.

KillerFlamingo · 23/04/2021 18:46

Buffy's Mom Sad It was so well done as well, so realistic and heartbreaking.

Roomba · 23/04/2021 18:46

Just remembered 'Not Penny's Boat' in Lost. That was traumatic too!

Oh yes Colin dying broke me especially when they played who wants to live forever as we walked into that at my dads funeral 💔
Hardbackwriter · 23/04/2021 18:47

Wallace in the Wire. Haunts me still. Though, like a PP, It's A Sin came pretty close to being the most upsetting - I watched it all in the three days after giving birth (an error, in hindsight!) and cried buckets.
