What's your most upsetting tv death?

Just watching Bones for the first time and absolutely gutted about Sweets which made me wonder which other tv deaths have upset MNers.

Lots of potential for spoilers here so apologies in advance.

Lane Pryce (Mad Men)

I am watching Grey's Anatomy for the first time and the one that has got me is George O'Malley. Such a shock.
And Cucumber has definitely stayed with me. The way his thoughts spiralled around was chilling.

There are a few in The Shield that I will never recover from, but won’t say who or how as so many people still haven’t seen it and should do!

I remember being really upset when Chris died in Skins (first cast, I think season 2).

And of course end of season 4 in Dexter - that was absolutely awful.

Rachel in Cold Feet

Liam in Grange Hill, it upset me for weeks. His girlfriend Chrissie was pregnant with his baby.

Rachel in the original series of Cold Feet.

Much imitation by other programmes since, but at the time it was a truly shocking, sudden and unexpected death of a main character in a very successful series.

I also agree with the Sam Tyler comment. I was just so shocked!

Bobby in Dallas - him and Pam had just got back together, I was very upset. I know he came back and she was dreaming (cringe) but you didn't know that at the time!

On Emmerdale, when Edna's dog Batley died I stopped watching after that.

Just remembered 'Not Penny's Boat' in Lost.

Cucumber. That scene has never left me. I don’t think it ever will.

Momma dying in The Closer. Hasn’t left me either. Kyra Sedgwick broke my heart.

Sybil and Barbara (Downton and CTM) both absolutely heartbreaking.

Aidens suicide in corrie 😭

Daphne in neighbours was the first tv death I remember... she said I love you clarky and died. It was very traumatising as I was very young!

Buffy's mum- that episode is so well done. It is such a haunting portrayal of a shocking death. It really takes me back to a dark time.

The last episode of Life on Mars with Sam Tyler always gets me.

Christopher Eccleston’s character in Cracker. Stabbed to death by a psychotic Robert Carlyle and bled out in the street.
