The year is going so fast @yogachick!

I started today with 20 min sun a/b whilst children were getting ready for their last day of school…it was relatively peaceful lol. Am going to try out a new YouTube teacher later, she has an 80min practice which might be nice as I’ve never done more than an hour at a time.

Hello again. I was with you on these threads earlier in the year, but dropped off.

I've been following the YWA calendars, and barring a couple of days of long haul travel and illness when I couldn't get to of bed (not connected) I have practiced every day since 1 January. I've just finished the June calendar this morning.

Good to see you again!

Yogachick · 01/07/2025 09:57

Happy July @Poisonwood @OhOneOhTwoOhThree . Brilliant consistency @OhOneOhTwoOhThree , still working on that. I struggle with 40 mins so am again in awe @Poisonwood ,maybe the consistency would help with stamina?😂
started in the garden with SB Beach body but the combination of a massive bug biting me then coming back for more, then the ubiquitous’one breath one movement’ felt very rushed. Retreated inside with Day 11 of True. Much nicer all round

Poisonwood · 01/07/2025 23:03

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree that’s brilliant consistency, sounds like you’ve made and strengthened a really good habit. How are you finding the calendars?

@Yogachick did you try the beach body one in heat?? You’re braver than I!! True is lovely isn’t it. I like Breathing Room and Breath too.

True Day 11- the hip dips have entered. I was fine until number 5 at the end, nearly collapsed on that one! I thought it was a nice flow practice but it’s probably just hatha

Poisonwood · 02/07/2025 17:55

I did a 20min power SB to hurdlers pose, which I couldn’t do and don’t think I ever will. Then tried out Yoga Dose 55min Yoga for Strength which used blocks throughout. Even did full sun As with a block which was interesting and really activated your muscles.

Lovely 50min Recovery and Strength practice by YoginiMelbourne. Smooth but no ‘flows’, very clear cueing. I had done a really nice 20 min guided Loving Kindness meditation of hers a few times and thought I’d try out her yoga - am really glad I did.
Vinyasa class tonight, 60 min class and just under two hours driving there and back…not that I envy the people who live just round the corner at all 😆

Yogachick · 03/07/2025 11:48

I’m not dedicated enough to even drive 45 mins for a yoga class @Poisonwood !
Detox from Adriene calendar, move with your breath so much less irritating than lets flow one breath one movement. Popped this one into favourites as there was wide legged forward bend ,love the zing upside down gives me.

Poisonwood · 04/07/2025 16:35

Another yoginimelbourne one, 60 min power. Definitely felt worked at the end, but in a nice way.

True day 1. Back on the mat on the first day of my school summer break.

It's been a very difficult 7 months and I just haven't had the headspace to practice but I really need it! Going to aim for yoga every day this summer and carry on into the autumn like I did last year.

Practiced after dinner today but aiming for some 6am practices on the deck.

Yogachick · 04/07/2025 18:20

Hello again @PatienceOfEngels ! Good to have you back however you can manage🌻
True Day 13-Strength and Harmony, wonderful practice, another one I’ve bookmarked for favourites.

Poisonwood · 04/07/2025 22:49

@PatienceOfEngels your Mat is always there for you, whenever you are ready for it. Early morning outside sounds lovely.

8am outside practice interrupted by rain so finished inside. True day 2. Thanks for the welcome back @Poisonwood and @Yogachick .

Poisonwood · 05/07/2025 14:02

@PatienceOfEngels you’ve brought my desire for a yoga summer house roofed area in the garden back to the forefront of my mind. My neighbour built my shed so I could design something and get him to do it.

PatienceOfEngels · 05/07/2025 15:37

The 6 minutes in the kitchen was slightly less serene than the 30 minutes outside!

Yogachick · 06/07/2025 10:17

My best friend’s Dad died suddenly & unexpectedly yesterday. I was over an hour away visiting my Mum so couldn’t take her when she got the call. He was a wonderful man,a true gentleman,I’m devastated.
Moving through grief with Marnie today.

Poisonwood · 06/07/2025 17:58

Oh @Yogachick I’m so sorry to hear this. You and your friend are both in my thoughts. There are no words. I hope Marnie’s practice helped even a little.

My son left to go hiking abroad till his degree starts in September, he’s an old soul and with his best friend so I’m not over worried (if you believe this you believe anything lol) but we do all feel a little…flat…
Did an hour of yoga sculpt with Brett Larkin, wowzer! I think I’m fit nowadays and then get pulled firmly back down to earth 😆. I can complete most online practices if I’m concentrating on my breath etc, but have to admit I’m anxious about being able to talk coherently through them when my YTT finishes in December. Ach, it’s all an adventure.

I'm so sorry @Yogachick x

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/07/2025 21:54

Sorry for your sad news @Yogachick

@Poisonwood I am enjoying the calendars. They are well put together and follow on well from each other lf you do them in order (I don't always follow it exactly - if I need a shorter practice for example I swap them around, but over the course of the month I do all of them).

Yogachick · 07/07/2025 11:02

Thankyou all for your kind wishes
just 8 mins with Adriene from the calendar today

Poisonwood · 07/07/2025 16:03

An hour of gentle and an hour of Ashtanga, it’s really nice to have the combination just wish the drive wasn’t as long.

YWA True day 3 yesterday and 4 today. Stretch and Floor - just what I needed!

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 08/07/2025 07:17

Hi there all id like to join this thread. I’ve been practising yoga for 5 years I discovered it during covid and have practised regularly since and it has changed my life. I love it and it has truly made me realise the power of the breath. I have met some amazing people on my yoga journey.

i aspire to practising daily but only manage 3x a week. Part of that is I’d love to just move to doing my own flow and not needing a teacher or video for prompt but not sure how to get there.

id love there to be something like YTT but more for people who want to deepen their own practice.

Any words of wisdom. Thank you

Yogachick · 08/07/2025 11:32

Welcome @JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome , no words of wisdom from me but I think @Poisonwood is on that journey so may be able to point you in the right direction.
Adriene calendar -No Fear practice. I dip between the calendar & True if I don’t fancy that days practice. I’m interested in @OhOneOhTwoOhThree comment that the calendar practices follow on from each other. I think I need a different perspective as I’ve never seen that except with the 30 day series

Poisonwood · 08/07/2025 12:24

Hi @JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome welcome 🤗. I would suggest you maybe add five minutes free flow to the end of a video, maybe pause just before Shavasana to do it. You’ll be warmed up and can feel where your body maybe would appreciate a little extra. Or, start only using teacher audio so no visuals for a while and then after a while do some free flow before or after. Or, write a wee list of your favourite poses out and just do them without worrying about flowing.
Yoga course simply for more depth, I was recommended Happy Jack Yoga.
