The year is going so fast @yogachick!

I started today with 20 min sun a/b whilst children were getting ready for their last day of school…it was relatively peaceful lol. Am going to try out a new YouTube teacher later, she has an 80min practice which might be nice as I’ve never done more than an hour at a time.

Lovely practice today…35 min Hip Strength with Marnie and 30 min YWA Flow to Stillness. Breath was such a good focus in both. Did a 20min walking meditation barefoot on the shore and a 20min Loving Kindness meditation.

Definitely calmer and more grounded now!

YWA True day 5 High.

Poisonwood · 09/07/2025 19:18

I did the YWA calendar, Trust the Process. After that I did 2 x 30min practices from other students on my YTT last year. Very different styles, but both nice. Was reassuring as I overthink my own creations so much but I do know I can do this 💪.

Oh gosh how did I miss there was a yoga board 👋
I’ve done various online in the past mainly adriene and my fave Kassandra.
however I’ve just discovered Charlie Follows so going to start a daily practice with her tomorrow . Starting with beginners as I have a bit of a injured shoulder.

i was going to a class for the last 6 months which was great but too pricey and it was at a studio - nearly all the classes were hot apart from one (which was a great one), but now my class pass has ended I’ve decided to return to home practice. I’ve set up a little yoga corner in my teeny office with lights and everything and also bought a bolster which my teacher introduced me too when I wanted to avoid a full shoulder stand - GAME CHANGER.

Day 1 - tomorrow!

Yogachick · 09/07/2025 19:39

Hi @Countrylife2002 ! I’m hoping for a birthday booster next month-any recommendations?
I joined @Poisonwood with Adriene’s Trust the Process from the calendar. Nice 20 ish mins. You’ve got this @Poisonwood , you will find your own voice for your YTT, your breadth of experience with a variety of teachers will guide you but your path will be your very own. Will we be following your YT channel in time I wonder …..🌻

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 09/07/2025 22:46

I did a 50 min practice today that my teacher had on you tube. Building up to flying splits. V enjoyable.

Poisonwood · 09/07/2025 23:15

Hi @Countrylife2002 welcome, we’re all very friendly and enthusiastic here…Hope you enjoy Charlie Follows.

Thanks @Yogachick you’re right.

@JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome I love flying splits.

Welcome @Countrylife2002

YWA True day 6 yesterday. I wasn't feeling great and really had to psych myself up. Did a few modifications as well.

Poisonwood · 10/07/2025 12:53

@PatienceOfEngels hooe you’re feeling better today.
I did a lovely 30min shoulder strength practice from heartandbones yoga this morning. Such clever use of props, and a gentle overall vibe even though it worked the muscles a lot. Really nice.
In person Slow Flow tonight.

Confidence Boost from Adriene calendar. Balance always a challenge but got more out of the pose when I swallowed my ego and used support

Poisonwood · 10/07/2025 22:58

@Yogachick I love it when we can work on ego by modifying.

I’ve found the one pose that feels really v wrong in my body and annoyingly it’s a significant part of my flow class for the next 6 weeks. I can modify of course but need to work on it not putting me out of sync mentally as much as it did tonight.

@Yoga Joy from the calendar.

Poisonwood · 11/07/2025 16:26

Finally got to do yoga outside, it was lovely. Just free flowed sun A/B and did some leg work then might have done a 30 min Shavasana 😆.

True day 7 yesterday (lovely flow) and day 8 today (meditative). Just what I needed.

Poisonwood · 12/07/2025 19:58

Did yoga early before it got too hot. 30min yoga full body strength by heartandbones yoga.

Lovely hour of early morning power yoga. YoginiMelbourne is definitely my favourite at the minute.

I am here, plodding along with YWA True. Up to date 12 yesterday (damn hip dips), and will do day 13 later when I'm packed for holiday. Looking forward to some yoga outside the next 2-3 weeks away. Slowly getting back into the groove. Have put on a lot of weight and lost a lot of flexibility since I stopped in mid December.

Poisonwood · 16/07/2025 11:29

@PatienceOfEngels I bet you outside yoga will do you the world of good. Be proud of getting back in the groove, that takes strength. Enjoy your holiday. 😊

I did a 40 min BL yoga for abs video and a 30min BL power yoga for courage…oh my they made me work! Think I’ll do some gentle yoga before bed as a counterbalance lol

Thank you @Poisonwood

Just done Day 13. Those hip dips! Definitely feel my abdominals today.

Hi! Can I join this thread? I've been trying to do yoga daily for the past couple of months, managing about 4 times a week, but I'd love to chat to try to motivate me more and keep me on track.

I use the Down Dog app, which I've used for years, but I've never managed to get into a decent routine and keep going regularly long term. I cycle between being in good shape and a flabby mess. Currently in decent shape, but my core and abs need work—I'm using my back too much to transition between poses, so I'm consciously trying to focus on using my core to push rather than my upper back to pull.

I live in Portugal and practice outside on my roof terrace, where we've built a little gym. At the moment it's a kind of hot yoga as it's over 30 degrees most days when I practice. I sweat buckets and it feels good.

I was doing 30 minutes Vinyasa flow at intermediate 1 level, but I've increased to 50 minutes and it's now a really intense workout for me. I also sometimes do TRX and weights, then a 10-minute intense HIIT using the Down Dog app, followed by a 20-minute post workout yoga stretching session. I prefer just 50 mins of yoga though.

I've been able to get into a good routine because my work is currently very flexible—I do intermittent fasting and find I need to eat before I work out, so I tend to do it early afternoon. I'm about to go and do today's session now though, as I have errands to run later.

Poisonwood · 17/07/2025 17:47

@TheLeadbetterLife hello, welcome 🤗

That does sound like hot yoga! It must be lovely and relaxing though (well, afterwards 😆).

I did an hour advanced slow flow for emotional release…I prefer slow flow as feels it gives me better time to get where my body wants to be and to activate my muscles in each asana. Felt very good.

TheLeadbetterLife · 17/07/2025 21:06

It was bloody hot today. I've been wearing shorts the last few days but I need to switch back to yoga pants, because I get too sweaty to hold revolved lunge and chair...

Does anyone have any advice on improving some of the balance poses? For some reason I never feel like I make any progress with warrior 3, and I can't get into Utthita Hasta without toppling over. I can usually hold the lower down ones like eagle or figure 4 chair quite well, but I can't seem to find any stillness in the standing on one straight leg ones. Except for tree, I can hold tree for ages. I think it's where everything's extended that I struggle.

Poisonwood · 18/07/2025 19:47

@TheLeadbetterLife it’s easy to forget to tighten your core in balances but it makes an enormous difference. Also, move deeper in to the balance than you think you possibly can and it will often work better, it all changes centre of gravity and your perception can be off.

60min kundalini today. V active.
