The year is going so fast @yogachick!

I started today with 20 min sun a/b whilst children were getting ready for their last day of school…it was relatively peaceful lol. Am going to try out a new YouTube teacher later, she has an 80min practice which might be nice as I’ve never done more than an hour at a time.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I do try to consciously tighten my core, but I feel like when I try to concentrate on anything in the balances it makes it worse. I am quite clumsy, maybe I'm not cut out for those moves.

I was very busy today but managed to do 30 minutes. Weird how quickly it doesn't feel like enough—it's only been a week since I increased to 60 and 30 felt so easy.

45min Brett Larkin core practice first thing. Am working on sequencing my first class - private sessions to aid flexibility and balance in a 74 year old - so I’ll be working on that later.

Hello! I'm back from my holiday. No yoga yet but maybe Monday when I go back to work.
Didn't do any yoga whilst away. Thought I would really need it when I got back but the revelation has been that moving a lot (did 20k or more steps most days) and not spending hours at a desk or sat in a car is amazing for mobility. OH had a lot of pain from a sciatica flare just before we went and I was worried how he'd get on hiking and carrying a rucsack but after the first few days he seemed in much less pain and able to move pain free. I need to remember this as I've mainly been sat here catching up on mumsnet today, so need to not slip straight back in to the lounging lifestyle. Sadly giving up the desk job is not an option, although I am looking at alternate seating options.

Poisonwood · 20/07/2025 17:28

@Jumbojem glad you had a lovely time. Have you ever tried a standing desk? I love walking, and do far less after sadly losing my dog last year…it’s so good for you.

Did an hour of Yoga for Osteoporosis/Menopause with Marnie, great as always. Finally got my seventy year old DH trying some yoga as his back has been bad for a couple of months, hoping he’ll continue but I refuse to nag him as he is very patient with being a Yoga Widower (his words 😂)

I have been looking at standing desks, ergonomic chair etc but I don't want to rush into it and regret the choice! We have a few in the office but when I looked up that model they were £££ so not viable for me. I'm going to go with the cheap option first and try a Pilates ball which my work colleague did during covid and said it was beneficial as a basic solution.
The Marnie yoga practice sounds good. I'm back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks off so I should really pick out what practice I will do tomorrow as I won't have time to faff! Something energising perhaps!

Really nice Brett Larkin root chakra practice, needed the grounding as been a long day.

Away on holiday. Not managing every day but have done 4 x True so far (up to date 17 now) with lots of walking and beach air. Put off day 16 for a few days as it was 40 minutes.

TheLeadbetterLife · 23/07/2025 16:36

Been under the weather the last few days, so today was my first practice since Saturday—Vinyasa flow. A bit tough in places but I enjoyed it. I have to be careful on up dog at the moment because I went over on my left foot a week or so ago and sprained the tendons. I'm not sure if the stretching is making it worse.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/07/2025 20:20

Still doing my best with daily practice, even if not all in exactly the right order. Sometimes I swap them around if I don't have time for 30+ minutes. I did today's new YWA today - lovely gentle (at the time) hip openers but I felt them later when out walking.

Poisonwood · 23/07/2025 21:50

I’ve managed 30 minutes each day, Yogini Melbourne, but have multiple children bad with chicken pox and have v little me time.

Lovely practice today. Brett Larkin. 40 min core, and 30 min strength flow. Really thoughtful cueing to activate muscles.

YWA True Day 18 22 minutes. Still feeling really unfit but loving getting outside by the sea everyday.

Poisonwood · 24/07/2025 20:21

@PatienceOfEngels I bet it’s doing you the world of good 😊

30 min sun a/b, done slowly. A nice practice. Too busy for more, here’s hoping tomorrow is calmer.

Lovely practice this morning. An hour of Brett Larkin Root chakra practice then Charlie Follow’s latest 15min core. I am pretty certain I will never be able to do low boat, it hurts my overly-flexible back, but the rest was nice.

Brett Larkin Sacral Chakra practice for an hour.

YWA True day 19 yesterday (lovely standing practice) and day 20 today (mostly sitting and lying). Both exactly what I needed.

Poisonwood · 28/07/2025 11:28

They sound nice @PatienceOfEngels. I did YoginiMelbourne full body flow, and then finished with my longest full headstand - the balance was perfect for it.

YWA True day 21. Having a chill day at the holiday cottage so might try and do another one or two later.

Poisonwood · 29/07/2025 18:39

20 min pranayama and Shavasana. Feel utterly drained today.

Lovely morning practice with YoginiMelbourne. I like her flows not being one breath one movement!! Energising but also gentle start to day, which is thoughtful cueing.

Have treated myself to a large mirror for asana, which came today…what a difference! I thought my alignment was pretty good, but actually I see rounding of torso in half lifts/plank/down dog that is really easily changed by simply elongating shoulder blades towards each other more. Will make lengthening the spine so much stronger in my practices, love it.

It will also, I hope, help with ego and contentment…I’ve avoided mirrors a lot of my life through insecurity so having one so large and simply being The Observer is a huge change.

What a lovely positive post @Poisonwood!

Poisonwood · 31/07/2025 08:56

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree thank you, we’re all taking steps on a long and winding road aren’t we.

Did a nice 40min morning Hatha practice with a focus on shoulders. I’m enjoying morning practices at the moment but definitely feel a difference between my stiffness in my first downdog and my last lol

YWA True day 22 yesterday and 23 today.

PatienceOfEngels · 01/08/2025 11:02

Short self compassion practice today 'Be Kind' YWA True day 24. Just what I needed!
