Daily Practice June

Poisonwood · 01/06/2025 15:32

The year is going so quickly!

Yoga aims for the month: movement every day and work on meditation techniques for YTT.
Today I’ve done a 40 min Brett Larkin half moon practice and a 40 min Charlie Follows Challenging Full Body one.
Meditation will be Kundalini for stress relief, using mudra and pranayama.

Nice to see a June thread after I jumped off the yoga wagon in May thanks @Poisonwood . Both practices from SB calendar today, I feel all stretched and calm, lovely

ChocAuVin · 01/06/2025 20:43

Following for inspo through June Smile

Poisonwood · 01/06/2025 21:30

@Yogachick SB practices are great aren’t they! How are you feeling at the minute?

@ChocAuVin inspiration is always a good thing. I’ve loved the tips and suggestions I’ve found on these threads. I quite often do a toe roll and think back to when I couldn’t fathom them at all, smile and think “I learnt that from Mumsnet” 😁.

June already! Thanks for the new thread @Poisonwood
@Yogachick welcome back, glad to hear you're still enjoying yoga. I'm hoping to roughly follow the SB calendar. I also need to look for some of her practices I can download for my holiday at the end of this month, no mat so any suggestions of suitable ones gratefully received!
I've yet to do any yoga since Friday but will be back on the mat in the morning.

Poisonwood · 02/06/2025 17:43

@Jumbojem that’s an interesting question. Will you have carpeting do you know?

Tonight I’ve two hours in-person class, yoga fundamentals followed by Ashtanga. My teacher is letting me take the meditation part of the first class as practice for YTT…nervous is an understatement!

OP posts:
Yogachick · 02/06/2025 20:00

How exciting @Poisonwood ! Let us know how it goes.
Theres a 21 day Hands free calendar on SB @Jumbojem ,might be your best option?
I did a workout this morning, have felt ill ever since, even though that’s been my routine this last month, workout am,some yoga pm( not enough admittedly). I did the intermediate practice from SB this evening, a practice that has many of my favourite asana, but SB is feeling a bit clinical atm for me. Though I sometimes find Adriene’s chat irritating,I’m missing that softness. I’ll see what takes my fancy tomorrow

Poisonwood · 02/06/2025 22:38

It went well thanks @yogachick , did one I find quite powerful: a Become The Observer meditation. When I do public speaking etc I’m always fine in the moment (have stood in front of 500 people and spoken in my non-great second language before…difficult!) but I am massively anxious before. Next week I assist in asana for the first time so I’ll be revising my pose flash cards all week lol

I'm getting back on the daily yoga after a break of a couple of months. Can someone remind me who SB is? Thanks

Poisonwood · 03/06/2025 09:38

@ThymeSageRosemary Sarah Beth Yoga 😊

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 03/06/2025 19:33

45min Arianna Elizabeth core power yoga. Wowzer that was good. 15 min Brett Larkin guided meditation for anxiety and obsessive thoughts.

Yogachick · 03/06/2025 19:46

Did the 10 min Adriene bedtime practice last night, this morning was Power & Balance from this months YWA calendar. This is evening was 20 min full body flexibility from Sarah Beth,a wonderful practice, that pushed me a bit with a half camel variation and a quad stretch. I remembered that’s what I like about SB that Adriene lacks, challenging with those different poses.
I play lawn bowls ( I know😆) & have noticed how much less flexible I’ve become without a more consistent yoga practice. For me I feel that’s the difference between feeling old & feeling younger still. So many of the folk I play with struggle to bend down to pick up their bowls &in all honesty,so did I today and it’s not a feeling I appreciate. Onwards!

Jumbojem · 03/06/2025 20:54

Oh yes, @Yogachick totally, I can really feel it when I haven't done enough yoga! I do think of regular practice as future proofing my body as much as I can.
No hands is a good shout for holiday, I will take a look and download a few. @Poisonwood Unlikely to have carpet as we're going to the balkans. Also space may be limited as 4 of us sharing in some places. The first place has an outdoor terrace and the second place is in the mountains so I'm def going to be brave and do outdoor yoga as there is a grassy area with hopefully a stunning view.
I forget, did you say you were doing yoga teaching training? Hope it goes well!
I did the SB vinyasa flow one on yesterday's calendar, I wasn't going to do it all as slept later than I intended but i really enjoyed the single leg balancing poses so the time went in a flash.
@ThymeSageRosemary welcome! Hope you are enjoying getting back to yoga.

Poisonwood · 03/06/2025 22:40

@Yogachick age had crept up on me without me realising…my balance had slowly gone from lack of use and my body being stiff had become the norm. Starting, and then maintaining, yoga brought the strength and flexibility all back and more - and I’m so appreciative.
@Jumbojem outdoors yoga would be so lovely. Our Highlands weather is still too dreich but I live in hope of enjoying it one day lol

Lovely practice today:

1 hour power vinyasa Arianna Elizabeth. It has a lot of chaturanga but I enjoyed doing half full ones, and half solid planks. Love planks. I like her voice and energy.

Meditation will be a 15 min grounding chakra meditation followed by 15 min zen.

Poisonwood · 05/06/2025 10:22

They both sound nice @Yogachick. Raining here too. Today I’ve a 60 min Pilates class followed by 60 min vinyasa class. Will do a 20 min silent meditation before bed.

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 05/06/2025 21:34

Oh yes Charlie follows has some lovely outdoor practices.
I did the SB standing 20 min one this am, the upper back twists were needed after hunching over a desk too much recently.
Planning to make sure I'm up early tomorrow to do the 45 min one on the calendar.

Yogachick · 06/06/2025 11:12

Another Charlie Follows this morning, she’s so creative. Loved it!

Poisonwood · 06/06/2025 17:15

Haha same here today, Charlie Follows 😊

Lovely practice this morning, 30 min SB power then. YWA 35min Hips & Hamstrings/Weight Loss. The YWA was from a few years ago and I dolike the less polished ones.

Charlie Follows Day 1 of Beginners 30 days. Was ok for what it is

Poisonwood · 08/06/2025 21:19

Did 2 hours of anatomy for YTT, and a 20 min silent meditation, then just some sun a/b for a rest before tomorrow’s 2 hours of in-person classes.

Have improved my chaturanga form this weekend, by leaning more forward, pleased with that.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 08/06/2025 21:39
this one was a new instructor. Fast paced in parts but manageable Well done on the chatarunga @Poisonwood . Mine too has improved very fractionally , not a collapse straight away now,but a brief moment of control 👏

Poisonwood · 10/06/2025 13:16

@Yogachick ooh I’ll try that one out! 😊

Lovely Ashtanga practice last night. Must have worked my hips slightly more than usual as they feel drunk today 😆. Think I’ll do a mix of kundalini and power later for an hour.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 10/06/2025 19:21

@Poisonwood love the breathwork & repetitive movement in kundalini but not the chanting & lack of asana. I think my ideal would be kundalini combined with more traditional hatha/vinyasa style. Without the white robes.
Yesterday was Charlie Follows most recent upload. A strong one ( for me ) with some cracking repetitive bear taps. Today was Day 1 of True,my favourite of the 30 days. Planning to work my way through but I do get distracted
