Well March is over, new month new focus!

Today I’ve done 45min YWA Feugo, Sarah Beth 30 min Slow Burn (thanks for the nudge @yogachick ) and 60min CF flow. 40 min meditation.

60 min Sarah Beth power. Nice practice. Trying out a new class tomorrow, it’s 45min drive but if it’s good it’s worth it.

Hello @Poisonwood thank you for the new thread. I don't know how you manage so much yoga! You must be getting very strong.
I was wiped out by a flu bug the last two weeks. I'm left weak and out of breath at even gentle movement. Did first yoga for a long while yesterday and frankly was glad the SB calendar is only 5 mins a day as that is about my limit at the moment. Hoping to start building back up and that recovery gets a bit quicker than it has been.

Poisonwood · 03/04/2025 22:22

@Jumbojem that sounds really tough! It can take a long time to recover properly from a bad bug. I’d recommend the YWA Yoga for Comfort and Nourishment video.

I think I’ve gotten strong without realising - planks feel fun now 😂. When I went in to tonight’s class a stranger said, before we began, that I looked like I know yoga. She’s actually been practicing for 41 years, but I do wonder what she spotted in me lol. My daughter thinks maybe I have good posture now, but it’s always been quite good tbh.

Today I did a 45 min Brett Larkin hatha video about hero’s pose, as a warm up for the 60min vinyasa class I went to.

Yoga with Adriene Flow on the Go,then on to Week 2 of SB Trauma calendar,10 min yoga stretch for stress, trauma & hardship.
went to aqua aerobics last night and the inflammation today is nasty. I’m hoping if I go regularly I might get used to it. Yoga definitely helps to keep me mobile on these days
Dont rush your recovery @Jumbojem , or you’ll end up back where you started.
I too am in awe at the amount of yoga you do @Poisonwood ,you’re phenomenal x

Poisonwood · 04/04/2025 22:01

@yogachick that sounds a nice practice. Can you maybe use the steam room/sauna after aqua aerobics? That helps me.
Your comment was very kind; I only do as much as I do in an (often futile) attempt to not only help my aching joints but also to slow my high-gear brain a little. I was told by my psychiatric nurse today that it is impossible for me to do too much yoga lol. Joking aside, she is preparing to discharge me this year, after needing her regularly for ten years, and we both know this huge improvement is largely down to my yoga.

Today was 60 min, 30 min SB power and 30min Marnie from YWA - I really like her menopause work.

I managed 2x5 min SB today. Was out of puff at the end of the second (it was titled something like sweaty flow warm up). OH asked why I was so puffy, to which I could only respond this is where I am now. I have a Garmin and my resting heart rate is around 10 bpm higher since being ill, and it tells me it's been a stressful day daily. Thankfully things seem to be slowly improving but it's def taken it's toll on me. Recovery will be slow and steady, but it's very frustrating!

Yogachick · 05/04/2025 11:03

Thanks for sharing @Poisonwood . Your yoga why has opened me to what yoga can offer me with my adhd monkey brain and fibro pain. Such a positive message how it’s helped you has got me back to my mat toda6 for the wonderful SB Rinse 30 min practice. Really love everything about this one

Poisonwood · 05/04/2025 16:56

@Jumbojem definitely focus on gentle acceptance of time being needed for recovery, it can be hard when illness weakens us suddenly.

@Yogachick I’m glad my honesty helped even a little, at heart I’m a very private (and low in self worth) person but I love to help others any way I can and I’m slowly learning that my lived experiences can actually help others. RINSE is a firm favourite here.

Today was 60min power video, then period came super early unexpectedly (the joys of this age) so my plans for another 60min hatha have been shelved as I’m going to have a nice bath and meditate instead.

Your honesty has made a HUGE difference to how I’m framing my yoga practice. Your honesty has made this thread a game changer for me. I cannot thank you enough for sharing xxx

Poisonwood · 06/04/2025 20:14

I did a 30 min Brett Larkin power yoga for Energy and Courage (wowzer, the standing splits variations and lengths were pushing me close to my limits at the end, will be good to go back to a few times). You always know if a teacher has labelled it for Courage you’ll definitely need some 😆.

Also worked on crow and headstand, crow is still not great which I think is my hypermobility having an affect. Headstand though - getting longer and I can now have both legs straight up…which makes me super excited but the family are so used to Yoga Me they don’t bat an eye at me being upside down in the middle of the living room 😁😁.

Only managed the 5 min hip practice from yesterday’s SB calendar. Am under the weather with a cold coming so not up to much. So you have lots of yoga apps @Poisonwood ?

Poisonwood · 07/04/2025 22:23

@yogachick sorry to hear you’re under the weather. No, I have the SB and YWA apps but they were both Black Friday great deals. I’m glad I got the YWA as it has Marnie and another couple of guests that don’t have their own YouTube channels but who are really good. I enjoy the SB one for her lives though I can’t do them live anymore. I YouTube everything else. I like the yoga sub Reddit.

Today was a nice morning 30 min Sun C practice then 1.5hr Ashtanga class this evening…45min drive home after was tiring but a friend who has started taking an interest in yoga recently came too which was nice.

I managed 4x 5 min SB this morning to catch up with the ones I missed. Although the first core one was too difficult for me so I sat out the side planks and bear dips. The second core one was much gentler. Felt like hard work, recovering from this bug is going to take some time I think but hopefully consistency will start to pay off.
@Yogachick I hope you are feeling better?

Poisonwood · 08/04/2025 21:55

@Jumbojem I’m glad recovery is going in the right direction. It really can take much longer than we expect.

I did an hour long hatha practice today, then practiced headstand.

Exciting news is I’ve started my 200hr YTT! Bad news is I’ve a trapped nerve in my back. Good news is GP said moving more would help it. 😂

75m Advanced Heart Opening Flow today. Was glad to stop at the end but managed it l, which I wasn’t sure I’d be able to.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 09/04/2025 16:35

That’s wonderful @Poisonwood , congratulations! I’m in the poorly boat with @Jumbojem ,confined to bed again. Trying not to resent being ill yet again

Poisonwood · 09/04/2025 19:39

Oh @Yogachick that’s rough. I hope it goes quickly!

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 10/04/2025 10:56

60min SB power this morning, 60min hatha class this evening; 45 min drive away annoyingly.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 11/04/2025 18:28

30min CF Intermediate, 30min SB power, had a play around with wheel/crow/headstand and tried baby grasshopper for first time…let’s just say I’ll keep trying 😆

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 11/04/2025 23:18

Congratulations on starting the YTT @Poisonwood keep us updated in how you are getting on.
I did the 5 min SB on weds and followed it up with one of the yogalates for strong legs as felt I needed to push a bit more. It felt tiring but glad I could do a bit more.
Not done any yoga since so I'm still very stop and start. Need to work on consistency as a twinge in my back today could def have done with some yoga to help relieve it.

Poisonwood · 12/04/2025 10:01

Thanks @Jumbojem. Could you maybe just do some yogic breathing on days you have zero energy so you still feel you are doing it, which may entice you to doing it again the next day, which may be a more energetic one? Getting out of the routine with anything can be hard to pull back from.

Quiet day for me, 30 min A/B/C and some meditation on the deserted beach. May do some more later but I’ve homework to do as well lol.

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 12/04/2025 19:31

I think I just need to get back into the habit @Poisonwood normal routine has been disrupted whilst I've been ill, now kids on holiday and OH and I on some a/l. Our house is small so it's awkward when everyone is home! I've started running again so hoping fitness is coming back. Will catch up on all the 5min SB ones I've missed tomorrow then pick up from there.
Maybe I should brave doing yoga outside, we have a nice garden but it's somewhat overlooked!

Jumbojem · 13/04/2025 11:16

4 X 5 min SB this morning so I'm up to date on those. Quietly pleased I managed the arm strength one, just a bit slower than SB pace in the high plank/low plank/up dog bit. My transitions are a bit clunky and need work.

Poisonwood · 13/04/2025 19:39

@jumbojem they’ll get smoother all the time, glad you’re recovering.

I started a month long yoga sculpt challenge today: incorporating dance, barre work, yoga and meditation…should be interesting. Today’s was a 20min thigh practice that was delicious, ending with reclining hero pose with one bent leg raised for intensity. Nice.
Later on I did 60 min SB powyin video that I did ages ago and remembered enjoying.

How are you doing @Yogachick?

OP posts:
Yogachick · 13/04/2025 20:41

Still struggling thanks for asking @Poisonwood . I’m a snot monster now for an extra layer of rubbish
