Well March is over, new month new focus!

Today I’ve done 45min YWA Feugo, Sarah Beth 30 min Slow Burn (thanks for the nudge @yogachick ) and 60min CF flow. 40 min meditation.

Ach @Yogachick that’s rubbish! Get well soon.

25min yoga sculpt - seat this morning. Ashtanga class this evening but I’ve the dentist beforehand for pretty major work so we’ll see if I manage it.

Oh sorry to hear that @Yogachick it took me 3 weeks to recover from my bug but hang in there, it will go eventually.
Just the 5 min SB today as I've started an "improve fitness" plan on my Garmin watch/app. So I had to fit in what was supposed to be a 25 min body weight strength workout. Only managed 15 minutes though, it featured planks with knee to elbow though which also often comes up in yoga, and bridge pose so feel there was a bit of cross over. I am determined to get stronger!

Poisonwood · 14/04/2025 23:39

That sounds an interesting crossover @Jumbojem here’s hoping it helps you come on in your recovery.

Did bound lotus foward fold this evening for the first time, felt great in my hips even though I made it harder on myself than necessary by not realising I should put my hand down to the ground. Tomorrow I’m going to follow the full primary Ashtanga with David Swenson.

Managed shoulder press pose and sleeping tortoise pose for first time 💪. Did 20 min yoga sculpt - core, which definitely worked it! 1.5hr Ashtanga. YTT homework. Quite tired, will have a more gentle day tomorrow.

Jumbojem · 15/04/2025 22:08

That's a lot of yoga! I did a 5 min abs one so impressed with your 20 mins. Did today's SB and Saturdays as won't be around. That one was a nice spine rotation practice which felt good.
I was exhausted after work but just under 20 mins of yoga def got me feeling better.

Poisonwood · 16/04/2025 05:20

@Jumbojem isn’t it amazing how quickly yoga can rejuvenate.
To be honest I only did yesterday’s extra yoga practice as my teacher suggested it, we don’t get time to complete the whole series in class and I think she wanted me to have the opportunity to try some more intense poses. Today, I’ve just done 20 min yoga sculpt to get it out the way lol, and will do some yoga nidra in bed tonight, but that’s it.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 16/04/2025 16:29

Have you tried kundalini @Poisonwood @Jumbojem ?

Jumbojem · 16/04/2025 21:08

@Yogachick I had to Google so I'd say not knowingly! I'm starting to think I'd love to go on a yoga retreat, but I'm a bit of an introvert so not sure how I'd find it.
Just did the 5 min SB as busy work day I needed to prep for, plus I did 15 mins (out of the scheduled 25) of the body weight workout.
Are you feeling any better @Yogachick ?

Yogachick · 16/04/2025 21:13

Sadly not @Jumbojem , I think it’s easing then it rears up again, feeling SO rubbish ill and now my knee has randomly swollen like I’ve been smacked with a bat, impossible as have been confined to bed . Did you go to the GP at all when you were poorly?

Poisonwood · 16/04/2025 22:02

Oh @Yogachick that all sounds really rubbish! You may need antibiotics, it’s been a wee while now hasn’t it. I was thinking about finding more out about Kundalini actually, always open to more knowledge. Had a lovely natter with my best mate about yoga today, we’re both hypermobile and both get such relief from it…it’s nice to have each other to chat to about it. Do wish we lived closer.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 18/04/2025 08:10

Yesterday’s calendar practice was actually a 30min kundalini one for back pain…it was reminiscent of SB pow/yin combination and I liked it. I had a 60min vinyasa class in the evening, such a nice teacher it is worth the drive. We did a runners’ lunge on outside edges of feet that was so good on my hips!
Today’s calendar is a 15min kriya practice to combat fatigue and rejuvenate energy…sounds good to me lol.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 18/04/2025 15:12

I like the repetitive movements & breathwork in kundalini but not the chanting. I miss the stretches of hatha though.
I actually got on my mat today with Yoga for Climbers with Adriene. Straight to favourites, felt wonderful. My body felt better for it, even though there were lots of pausing for coughing and nose blowing. Weirdly I felt well on one level, while snot monster on another.
Bliss to be back to the mat,am
Positive it helps with the inflammation
What calendar are you following @Poisonwood ?combatting fatigue and increasing energy sounds wonderful!

Poisonwood · 18/04/2025 16:40

I’ll have to try the Climbers @Yogachick …occasionally I’m too literal for my own good (“I can’t do that one, I’m not a climber” 😂😂). I’m glad you were well enough to be able to get on your mat today.

My friend just joined Brett Larkin’s Uplifted Yoga for a month so I’ve been doing her calendar mixed in with SB, CF and Adriene. It makes things cheaper when we combine our yoga resources lol. Today’s was actually fascinating, small movement but powerful!

OP posts:
Yogachick · 18/04/2025 16:52

That’s brilliant strategy to combine yoga resources @Poisonwood .I’ll be interested on your thoughts on. Uplifted

Poisonwood · 19/04/2025 15:34

I like it @Yogachick, I think it compliments SB, CF and YWA well. She has a number of 60 min classes which is nice. Good cueing, and body/mind feel good after even a 15 minute class. I’ve read her book, Yoga Life, (friend’s copy lol) and it’s well written, thoughtful, informative and she gives off an approachable vibe without too much chatter. I’d happily give her book as a gift to friends.

Today I did her 60 min Kriya for Morning Sadhana, intense core strengthening but really didn’t feel hard at all. I enjoy the juxtaposition of short burst of intense movements then calmness. Followed this afternoon with Sarah Beth 60min Power, then YTT homework. Played with head stands and did my best crow for ages, don’t think that’s ever going to be an easy one for me.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 19/04/2025 18:30

That sounds wonderful @Poisonwood . I will investigate at some point. YWA a yoga for grief today,a breathing stretchy one. I’ve felt a bit domed up the rest of the day so maybe not enough movement for me. Learning

Poisonwood · 20/04/2025 12:56

Did a 30 min Yoga for Self Discipline (lots of balance and grounding) and 30 min Challenging Strength Flow from Black Yogi Nico Marie on YouTube. Chair on tiptoes was…fun 😂. She did some nice affirmations in the first one. I’m going to investigate a few different YouTube teachers for reference see what I can learn about their teaching styles.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 20/04/2025 13:25

Checking out lots of styles will help make you a better yoga teacher I’m sure. You have such an adventurous spirit with your practice.
Im safe and steady ,building consistency. Yoga for courage, one of my favourites.Got into the cardio zone on my Fitbit for a few minutes. Definitely more benefit for where I am atm than yesterdays

Poisonwood · 20/04/2025 14:56

@Yogachick that’s really kind of you to say so - I’ve never seen myself as adventurous, I should be softer on myself. I’m glad you’re recovering! That sounds the ideal practice. I love that there is yoga for everything in life, and everyone.
How are you @Jumbojem ?

OP posts:
Yogachick · 21/04/2025 16:15

Day 1 of the Inner Child series on FWFG. Not what I had hoped for at all, imagining it would be along the lines of SB trauma series. It will be an assortment of practices from an assortment of teachers. Don’t actually fancy it now I’ve had a look so will do the alternates I suspect. Today’s compassionate conversation was a plank killer so I struggled but it was OK at the time. Now my back is excruciating 😩

Jumbojem · 21/04/2025 20:34

Oh that's disappointing @Yogachick
@Poisonwood I think you are probably doing more yoga in a day than I do a week at this point! I did two SB 5 min core practices from the calendar followed by the yin pigeon one. I didn't think my hips were tight but they clearly were! I have been doing a lot of bending at the hip to weed this weekend.
I was thinking about picking up a 30 day challenge as they always do the trick of getting me back into yoga, and gradually build up strength. I collapsed out of a side plank today, which at least gave me a laugh. Just not sure who's/ which but will need to be 30 min or less time wise. Open to suggestions!

Yogachick · 21/04/2025 20:37

I like Adriene’s 30 days because they build on each day’s practice @Jumbojem . I e joined a Fbk group who are working through her 30 day challenges and am tempted to just go with them, they’re on True atm, one of my favourites but some are longer than 30 mins

Poisonwood · 21/04/2025 23:44

@Yogachick ach that’s a shame it’s different…and about your poor back!
@Jumbojem I’d say either YWA or SB depending on how much talking you fancy mainly.

Had a lovely 90min Ashtanga class tonight, really nice teacher and there were only three of us. She’s been good every class at cueing an extra option for my hypermobility but without making me feel a nuisance if that makes sense, which is really thoughtful. She’s been doing Ashtanga for seventeen years, but actually stopped mid-cueing tonight to ask me how exactly I’d managed my jump through as she’d never seen it done like I did and didn’t know you could do it like that lol…she came to the conclusion it’s due to my ankle mobility.

Poisonwood · 22/04/2025 19:44

SB 5min abs, and a nice long meditation. Tiring and busy day.

Yogachick · 22/04/2025 20:47

What a great teacher you have @Poisonwood !
I did day 22 of True- Release,a blend of Kundalini & Hatha. Phenomenal practice,so energising really unclogged my brain. I’d love to find more like this💖
