Yoga With Adriene January 2025: Prana

I couldn’t see an existing thread.

I know Adriene is popular on this board and I wondered if anyone else is planning to do her January 2025 course, Prana?

It is a seven-day course this year rather than her previous 30-day programmes.

Day 3 complete though found the first chunk of breathing exercises tricky. I'm not very good at coordinating them. Feels good though ☺️

narniabusiness · 03/01/2025 19:20

I’m not sure I ‘get’ breath of fire. I don’t seem to be able to do the passive inhale bit and I just run out of puff.
Overall another great one. I love the arm moves.

15minutesaday · 03/01/2025 20:26

@narniabusiness think of it like panting with your mouth shut.

We do this breath a lot in my IRL class. Our teacher taught us to do it slower and with your mouth open - pretending you're a dog panting. Then close your mouth and slowly increase the speed.

Oh aye, I'm totally on board with the handstand transition @Yogachick 😂

Yogachick · 03/01/2025 21:08

Sorry @15minutesaday it was the second slide I meant to link which shows using blocks to help the DD/lunge transition x

Rummikub · 03/01/2025 22:14

Day 2 done. Love how she breaks things down.

15minutesaday · 03/01/2025 22:42

Thanks @Yogachick, I shall give that a try (you watch, there'll be no DD/lunge transitions in Day 4!)

DaphneLaurel · 04/01/2025 09:20

Day 3 done today. Enjoyed the arm movements with the breath.

Wolfcub · 04/01/2025 11:14

Was so glad when she said final
Downward facing dog as I thought we'd definitely got 20 mins. Then it just kept going. Harder one for someone (me) with no balance today

15minutesaday · 04/01/2025 11:56

Day 4 done. Kept losing my balance with the high lunge flow for some reason today (normally okay with stuff like that). I found the planks easier today than day 2.

I felt the 20 minutes was over too soon so did Day 1 again and now I'm going out with my friend to walk the (her) dogs.

Then I'm undoing all the good work with pizza and wine tonight 🍕🍷

guinnessguzzler · 04/01/2025 12:10

Two days in one is impressive @15minutesaday and definitely more than your 15 minutes! Going to do mine later on today, as with yesterday, school holidays get in the way! But definitely committed to doing it!

Yogachick · 04/01/2025 16:27

Prana Day 4 . Full of cold so breathing not the best, good old Vicks helped though

guinnessguzzler · 04/01/2025 19:23

Well done! I've just completed Day 4 but not sure I would have managed with a cold too! A nice relaxed ending though.

narniabusiness · 04/01/2025 23:01

The high lunge flow had me wobbling too@15minutesaday I think it was having the back heel lifted that didn’t help my stability.
Can anyone tell me what she means when she refers to squeezing your thighs to the mid line?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/01/2025 23:08

@narniabusiness I take that to mean tensing and squeezing the thighs together, the same action as if you were sitting down and pushing them together (ie pushing them both inwards towards your midline).

Talisin · 04/01/2025 23:58

I enjoyed today’s although I must confess to being a little out of breath by the time we got to childs pose. I was thinking ‘just like Hamilton’ every time she said rise up and then she said it herself 😆

Is anyone else finding Adriene’s nail vanish weirdly distracting? I’ve never noticed it before so unsure if she usually doesn’t wear it or it’s just that it’s a dark colour this time.

Thank you. I’ll give it a try.

narniabusiness · 05/01/2025 07:49

@Talisin Id noticed the dark nail varnish too and I don’t think she usually wears it.

Adrienne has done 10 years of the 30 days of Yoga in January so I can see why she stopped. The old ones are still on youtube and are (in order):
30 Days of Yoga
Yoga Camp
Revolution
True
Dedicate
Home
Breath
Move
Centre
Flow

I have done them all the year they came out and tend to then do some others during the rest of the year (don't do yoga every day). Yoga Camp is probably my favourite.

Wolfcub · 05/01/2025 12:30

Day five was good. I do love the moment of calm

Thank you for that list. I started with Revolution (and it took me three months to finish). And have followed most of them since. Last year was my most successful, I finished the January programme and followed the monthly calendars for the rest of the year. I didn't practice every single day, but got up to the end of the September calendar by mid-December.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/01/2025 13:19

@Wolfcub I was very happy to be invited to choose between happy baby and bridge pose at the end - I am not a fan of bridge.

guinnessguzzler · 05/01/2025 13:22

Ooh, looking forward to Happy Baby later, haven't done that for ages!

Liverpoodle · 05/01/2025 15:37

Enjoyed happy baby until I went all the way over to one side and felt like a beached whale.
I like the fact this is only 20 minutes per day but if I am remembering right that isn’t the case for all of the previous 30 day series?
