Yoga With Adriene January 2025: Prana

I couldn’t see an existing thread.

I know Adriene is popular on this board and I wondered if anyone else is planning to do her January 2025 course, Prana?

It is a seven-day course this year rather than her previous 30-day programmes.

A lovely start to New Year! Nice and gentle, but feel like my body has had a nice stretch to get started.

Sad there isn't a 30 day programme this year, but I'm also expecting January to be pretty busy, so slightly thankful - 7 days is definitely achievable (unlikely I'll manage it in real time, but who knows...).

@Doggielove I go to a yoga class at least weekly, and over Xmas my tips have tightened up so much, sitting cross legged is very tricky at the moment. I'm doing what I can and adjusting as I need to. Sitting on a block helps as well. I'm trying to focus on opening my hips again.

@Doggielove cross legged is always difficult for me so I just sit differently. Yoga is all about doing what you can and what feels good rather than beating yourself up if you can’t do it all.

I just do legs outstretched as that is more comfy. I will be able to do cross legged but not until much more yoga

I’m coming to this mot even able to sit cross legged comfortably any more 😝

I don't sit cross legged either - I have one leg more bent than the other in front of me and sit on a bolster and cushion to get my hips off the floor so my knees can drop down. It hurts my ankles to cross them.

Yes always on a block! Glad to hear it’s not just me. It seems to be the first thing that goes when I get out of practice

just walked dog so on way home . Gonna do it before salmon and eggs and report back

So comforting to hear. I like that pose.

it hurts my back and all sorts

How many downward dogs?

not sure I can manage them yet 😂

Only one. It's not a static pose - she has you peddling your legs in no time at all then back to table top.

Your user name - Doggielove - just not Downward Doggielove? Grin

Doggielove · 01/01/2025 13:19

I did it but only went to 16 as is done enough. I’m very very rusty

but it felt magnificent to welcome yoga back. I was so so stiff but I know I won’t be soon. And my legs won’t be in pain!

I will try for the whole tomorrow or just do the last ten mins

LeftWhisker · 01/01/2025 13:43

Thanks for posting it!
Very easy and very gentle session. I will definitely carry on.

guinnessguzzler · 01/01/2025 14:01

Well done everyone and Happy New Year! Day one done, really enjoyed it and feeling strong and relaxed now. Here's to keeping those feelings through 2025!

hanahsaunt · 01/01/2025 14:09

Feels so good! Love being back to this.

mynameiscalypso · 01/01/2025 14:50

This was really nice. A lovely way to start but, my goodness, I'm so stiff. I hope that some solid regular practice will help with that so long as I can get into the habit.

narniabusiness · 01/01/2025 17:15

Im pleased she decided to do a January series again and I don’t actually mind it being only 7 days. I enjoyed today’s gentle one as pp said it was very effective and I feel loosened and chilled. Looking forward to tomorrows.

Talisin · 01/01/2025 18:35

Well that was just lovely - really gentle but with just enough stretching to get any knots out. I feel throughly relaxed and unburdened now and I can see this one becoming my go to on days I really need a bit of self care.

Liverpoodle · 02/01/2025 10:16

I liked today, lots of hip stretching and then a cross legged sit at the end which I managed after all the stretching. My cow legs were trying to shoot forward and I couldn’t get my feet completely flat in froggy but otherwise nice and easy. I think the 20 minute format is much better than some years where there were some longer ones.

ChimpiestoftheChimps · 02/01/2025 10:24

Oooh thankyou for the reminder, I completely forgot yesterday! Start as I mean to go on, catching up!!
Shame it's only the seven days but maybe I'll go and do one of the old ones after?!

guinnessguzzler · 02/01/2025 10:48

Day two done! Found bits of it quite hard but enjoyed it. I don't remember doing
froggy at all though @Liverpoodle

happytobemrsg · 02/01/2025 11:28

Not been able to start this yet as NY is always busy & it’s tough fitting in practice while the DC are home. But I did book my favourite Yin Yoga class for next Friday so that’s something 😂 will try & fit day 1 in ASAP.

Liverpoodle · 02/01/2025 11:47

@guinnessguzzler i don’t mean froggy do I, it was a squat, does that have a name?

I'm not sure! 😂Either way it was a good session I thought. Definitely looking forward to tomorrow.

Jumbojem · 02/01/2025 14:03

Hello, joining in! Loved Day 1. Day 2 was way more strenuous than I anticipated! Shame it doesn't go live until 9am, I like to do yoga early before I get on with the day. I'm working today, so I had to go ahead and have my breakfast and take a work break to do it which wasn't ideal.

I’d be up for that too. I didn’t finish breath properly. Her most recent one. Which one you thinking of doing?

happytobemrsg · 02/01/2025 15:02

Just did day 1 & loved it. I feel relaxed and stretched. After a yoga class I feel like I had forgotten how to breathe properly & now my breaths are deeper & more intentional.

Unlike other years I don’t think I can commit to daily practice. I go yin yoga once a week & will try to add a regular yoga class plus a YWA video which will be plenty I think.

Rummikub · 02/01/2025 15:17

Did day 1. First bit of yoga proper since hospital. And it felt good!

Rummikub · 02/01/2025 15:20

Ration can’t do downward dog tho
