It's day 23 and there are just 7 days of Dedicate left. Well done yogis for getting onto the mat in your own way and at your own pace. We’re here to support each other as we yoga to the end of Dedicate, through to Feb and beyond.

I'm jumping back in after finishing Dedicate Day 29. I was away this weekend and the fell out of the habit of my daily practice but I'm so glad I've done it now. I'm hoping to pick up that feel good factor yoga has been bringing me and I'm going to to try and do Day 30 tonight as I won't be able to do it in the morning. Not sure what to do after that though so will keep checking in for ideas.

quirkychick · 06/02/2019 07:41

I did the Earth flow from the above Shiva Rea, which I normally find quite easy, as it's a basic vinyasa flow, but I'm still trying to get my energy up. Like AugustRose, I'm more tired than I thought, so I might mix up some quicker sessions with Adriene's self-care, as I'm not quite back to normal form, obviously Angry.

AugustRose · 06/02/2019 11:18

Yeah I finished, Day 30 done today and I felt much better. I started off following Adriene then did some bits on my own before coming back to her. I'm quite excited to keep going and adding new bits in. Plus the sun is shining and it feels more spring like so that's helping Grin

Busier day than planned so I will do the bedtime yoga later....

whitershadeofpale · 06/02/2019 14:05

I did bedtime yoga last night as was working until really late. Could have done with a stronger practice but I'm glad to have fit something in.

I've just signed up for a workshop called embodied yoga priciples. The description is:

'Embodied Yoga Principles is a simple and innovative approach to postural Yoga drawing from many embodied/somatic practices to emphasise psychological self-awareness, deep personal insight and to develop skill transference off of the Yoga mat. The ultimate aim being a better awareness of how you ARE in relation to yourself, those around you and the world at large.

This session will incorporate a 45 minute slow, accessible vinyasa flow followed by time working with archetypal postures, discussion with partners & in small groups and space to explore how these principles could be taken away and worked with.

While the session will be completely accessible regardless of physical ability, it may be quite deep. So if you are going through any emotional or psychological it may not be for you right now.

Come open and prepared to laugh, cry and rage, to see and potentially change some long held patterns for the better.'

I'm curious to try something new and it's donation based helping local charity, but I'm not sure about the 'So if you are going through any emotional or psychological it may not be for you right now' bit.

I started another five parks tonight but her skill level is just too advanced for me I think. I did one called cardio core and ended up in a heap on the floor half way through (but had a good laugh at myself!)

I stopped it at that point and did Adriene's psoas one which I enjoyed. I did manage to get hold of my foot on both sides but my knee wasn't happy about it, especially on the left leg.

Might have another go with five parks and try a vinyasa flow tomorrow or have a crack at the link a PP shared.

quirkychick · 07/02/2019 07:53

I did another Shiva Rea one today, the Shanti (peace) flow, which is slow but stretchy with pigeon and cow legs. I need a foam block for both of these but impressed I can almost get my knees together in cow legs as a couple of years ago I couldn't do either pose due to hamstring issues.

coffeecow not sure how easy it is to access each session on that link, as I have the dvd. It starts with meditations I usually miss. The earth flow is quite basic, heart is shoulder opening, but a few harder poses, water is fluid movement but lots of moving around the mat, fire and fire + water are fast and harder, shanti is slow but stretchy and chakra namaskar is a combination. Hth.

juniperjune · 07/02/2019 08:36

I've got a sore knee so I did the Adriene yoga for sensitive knees last night which was nice, but it's still sore so if anyone has any suggestions for practice with a sore knee that would be great! Thanks!

Destiel · 07/02/2019 09:26

Did day 7 - for insecurity.

Didn't feel insecure but its a nice work out.

Side planks are hard!!

Spudlet · 07/02/2019 11:25

Haven't managed to practice for a couple of days what with one thing and another, though was doing a good ujjayi breath to get me through the traffic yesterday! But today I rang up, rejoined the leisure centre and booked onto my first class since October. So looking forward to it. I now have to go at least once a week to get value for money, which will be a great motivator.

AugustRose · 07/02/2019 12:26

I did the Five Parks Rise & Shine today and managed much better, I even managed to hop it back to plank twice! I followed it with a short resistance band workout.

I'm still feeling a little dizzy in the mornings but as long as I eat something before starting I'm fine. I noticed the Day 9 on Adriene's Feb calendar is the 50 min self care, I have done that before and would like to do it again so hope I'm feeling good enough as 50 mins is quite long.

Spudlet · 07/02/2019 14:50

Oooooh, just got the house to myself for an hour or two (well DS is asleep and ddog is here but still) so managed to do Yoga for Insecurity and for Psoas back to back. Lovely.

Was slightly challenging because ddog took up station on the end of the mat and refused to move, but I reckoned he needed a break too. At one point I was doing the side planks after he'd wandered off briefly, and was suddenly tickled on my feet with his fluffy tail 😂 Added a new dimension to it!

Gumpendorf · 07/02/2019 19:09

I'm just updating on my sprained wrist which is, apparently, broken. So I'm now in a plaster cast and feel further away from yoga than ever.

I'm struggling atm, but I'm also determined to get going as soon as I can.

Well done to everyone for keeping up the pace ThanksThanks

Noooo, Grumpendorf! What an absolute, utter and total bugger ☹️

I am so sorry to hear that, I hope it heals quickly. At least now it's immobilised it will be able to knit properly. Flowers

Spudlet · 07/02/2019 19:26

Gumpendorf! Blush Apologies. Though you've every right to an element of grumpiness under the circumstances.

Destiel · 07/02/2019 19:48

Oh no!!

GreenHatHacker · 07/02/2019 20:13

Poor Gumpendorf! Sending healing yogic thoughts your way.

Thanks Destiel and Spudlet for the warning about side planks - somehow I thought yoga for insecurity was going to be all about having a nice lie down and hugging yourself! Still the occasional crash down, but much stronger than six weeks ago.

quirkychick · 07/02/2019 20:19

Gumpendorf you poor thing. Sending yogic healing vibes Smile.

I think you need to do some shavasana (lying down) and rest.

noodlezoodle · 07/02/2019 21:00

Ouch Gumpendorf, you poor thing. We'll still be here when you're all mended and ready to go again. I wonder if there are any hands-free options you can do when you feel a bit better?

I did her old 'Gentle yummy yoga' today from the original 30 day challenge and while there were a couple of gentle twists where you use your hands, it was all seated or on your back - no table top, planks or downward dogs.

quirkychick · 08/02/2019 07:34

I did the yoga for self-care, plus added a few extra stretches and forward folds. I'm still slowly regaining my energy, but did a lot walking yesterday and dd2 woke in the night, so needed something gentle this morning. I do love that hip stretch/massage that she does on this one (I'm sure it's on another one too) as it feels great on my tight hips and after upping my steps this week.

Gumpendorf I think the Intro to Yin one has very little wrists and is mostly lying on pillows or folding forward onto pillows, with the exception of a sphinx pose. When you feel ready.

Spudlet · 08/02/2019 10:47

Just realised my trusty leggings have gone transparent when I bend over Blush. Ordered some new ones, hope they'll be ok! Otherwise it'll be wear my biggest knickers and stand at the back of the class 😬

Still ridiculously some might even say pathetically excited about going to an actual class, even though it's in a sports hall that's been partitioned up while the leisure centre is refurbished. It feels like getting a little piece of freedom back after the winter, which has been looooong indeed. I've spent all my time buzzing doing stuff with ds and looking after everyone, and not taking time for me. The 30 days has been amazing for getting me to take a little time to myself again.

Destiel · 08/02/2019 11:36

For me too spud

There are classes locally but they are in the evenings and usually on days when I have other commitments 🙄

Spudlet · 08/02/2019 14:13

Did the 50 minute self-care practice today as unlikely to have time this weekend - it's lovely. Feels like you've done some work without being ridiculously strenuous. Will have to try and fit some shorter practices in at the weekend if I can, but we're going to be travelling on at least one day and settling back into home and things, so can't see an awful lot getting done!

Destiel · 08/02/2019 16:20

Day 8 done.
6 mins!
Nice though.
50 mins tomorrow! It'll kill me!

AugustRose · 08/02/2019 16:24

I did the 50 min one today too (I realised I won't have time tomorrow). It's not too bad Destiel as it's quite slow but has some good twists and stretches.
