Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Day 13 in the books.
Lover those arm stretches at the end. Joe Wicks does those and tells you to imagine stretching an elastic band. Really opens the chest up.
Dare I say we are nearly half way through yogis!

FranKubelik · 14/01/2019 16:04

Day 13 done. Loved it.

mynameiscalypso · 14/01/2019 16:08

Another Day 13 fan here - I felt it was a good balance of more gentle stretching and slightly harder poses and my legs were definitely feeling the goddess pose at the end in a good way!

whitershadeofpale · 14/01/2019 16:10

I have some exciting news. I did a favour for one of my yoga teachers and in return she's giving me a private lesson next week. I can't wait!

Hoping for lots of adjustments and help getting into some poses that have defied me so far.

GreenHatHacker · 14/01/2019 18:11

That was interesting! I've never tried goddess pose before - I think it stretched my ankles in strange ways! Had to miss days 9 & 11 - have decided to save the missed ones to the end rather than double up.

Talisin · 14/01/2019 19:06

Day thirteen done! I’ll be behind again after tomorrow but hopefully this time will manage to catch up on the Wednesday evening instead of getting further and further behind until supersized Sunday catch-up happens. I’ve never done goddess pose either, GreenHatHacker, and I feel sort of loose all over now.

whitershadofpale yay for the free one-to-one! That should be so helpful.

Spudlet · 14/01/2019 19:36

Ooooh whiter, I had a one-to-one by chance (my class is always tiny and I was the only one to show up that day) and it was great, so helpful. Enjoy!

Not sure if I'm going to make it to the mat today, feeling a bit deathly and knackered. I am so hungry though and DH is cooking dinner like the good'un that he is, so maybe later I'll feel up to it. Or not. Working on not beating myself up if I can't manage it tonight.

VioletCharlotte · 14/01/2019 19:53

I've just done day 10, slowly catching up!

whitershadeofpale · 14/01/2019 19:53

Thanks everyone- I’ll report back any teachings 🧘‍♀️

I did 12 and 13 today so up to date. I really enjoyed both of them but ache on my sides a bit and I think my thighs will kill me tomorrow. I strangely enjoyed the goddesses though.

daisychain01 · 14/01/2019 20:23

My big take away today Day 13 Space

We are worthy, we are awesome, we are great!

Gumpendorf · 14/01/2019 20:32

Day 13 done and it was a good one. I loved all of it but especially the stretches at the end, and the goddess tested my knees. Shock

I feel worthy and ready for Day 14!

chutneypig · 14/01/2019 21:04

Another good one for Day 13. I enjoyed it all, even the goddess pose, I was definitely managing to get lower by the end. The opening stretches were very welcome.

I felt a bit sniffly which was a bit distracting in downward dog. Hopefully that’ll pass.

daisychain01 · 14/01/2019 22:03

Yoga builds up the immune system better than any medicine, chutney, hope the sniffles subside Smile

daisychain01 · 14/01/2019 22:09

DH was cooking dinner while I was 'on the mat'

Maybe we should recommend it as the MN route to marital bliss, they cook, we yoga Grin

visca · 14/01/2019 22:10

Count me in as one who loved Day 13. Have starred it as one to come back to in the future - goddess pose felt like it was doing me the world of good!

coffeecow · 14/01/2019 22:44

Went to a fitness aerobics/dance type class after day 13 today and I think I've pinched my hip or something as it's a bit sore. Hoping it feels better in the morning. Looking forward to day 14!

Definitely agreeing that the key to marital bliss is they cook...we yoga! My husband has been really great at helping me carve out the time to do this which is one of the reasons I think I've managed to stay on track so far!

Littlechocola · 14/01/2019 23:07

I’m really behind! My New Years resolution was put on the back burner after getting poorly but I’ve made up for it tonight. A 20 minute hiit workout followed by day one of beautiful Adriene. I can’t feel my legs but feel very zen like Grin

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 15/01/2019 07:31

I did day 11 and 12 yesterday and I'm just about to get up and do day 13. Any minute now Blush

Hoping to do day 14 tonight and then stay on track this week. The weekend will be tricky because I've got family staying.

That crow pose was impossible Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 15/01/2019 07:36

Not working today but had forgotten so my alarm still went off at 6. Feeling very virtuous that I got up anyway and did day 13.

Goddess pose hard but fun. Managed to get up onto some very wobbly tiptoes at the end.

Feel set up for the day now.

I like reading the thread and hearing what's coming up as I'm a day behind. Smile

quirkychick · 15/01/2019 07:40

Day 14 done, I'm glad it was not too strenuous as I think yesterday's goddess pose stretched my ankles in a weird way too. That and wearing some not very supportive boots for the school run yesterday. I have some hiking style boots for today Grin.

chutneypig · 15/01/2019 08:01

Day 14 was a great follow on from yesterday. I’ve not tried the backstroke move before and found that was a great stretch. Im definitely more conscious moving between poses now.

A good start to the day, I’m travelling later so that will help. I’m very glad tomorrow is a short session, I’ve a full day away on an hours time difference with a 7.30 start. 17 minutes seems doable before that.

Glad you can get started now Littlechocola, I’m sure the series will having you feeling on top form.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 15/01/2019 08:07

Day 13 in the books. My favourite so far I think.

I don't feel like I'm getting any better at down dog but I am definitely seeing an improvement in my plank.

Goddess pose was lovely.

Magnificentbeast · 15/01/2019 09:36

On only day 3 but enjoying the thread and finding it motivating.

Since having DCs I have only managed intermittent yoga. Thanks to MN I found Adrienne.

My muscles are feeling it but I'm loving the 30 day challenge. I'm just wondering what benefits others are finding by doing it?

BlessThisMess · 15/01/2019 09:44

Day 14 done - I enjoyed that! I feel as though I am getting a little more flexible - I can bend down further. I still feel quite weak and clumsy some of the time though - but proud of myself for sticking with it.
