Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Thoroughly enjoyed day 12 too, despite my family’s best efforts at distraction. I definitely feel stronger through my arms.

Hope you’re feeling some improvement Ulysses

Spudlet · 13/01/2019 16:11

Is day 12 quite gentle? I missed yesterday as I spent the whole day wading through waist-high brambles and was shattered, then today I have a cold but I do want to practice... if today is fairly gentle I'm thinking I may do that and return to day 11 when I feel better. Or shall I leave today as well and do one of her other gentle practices?

Mrsr8, Adriene has an entire video for migraines:

DistanceCall · 13/01/2019 17:55

Spudlet, it is, yes. Mostly hip stretching. And it's only 20 minutes long. I am really low on energy today, and I was able to do it (and it helped).

daisychain01 · 13/01/2019 17:56

Mrs8 I would avoid any downfacing dog or inversions.

Day 12 done. Some really lovely stretches today.

cheminotte · 13/01/2019 18:49

Just done day 9 so a bit behind. My balance isn’t as good as I thought!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 13/01/2019 18:54

Did 11 and 12 today so I'm caught up, I like to have a day off to let my body recover a bit but I've been doing walking aswell.

Hello Sunday Yogis, Day 12 Curate on the books!

I agree Fran a beautifully stretchy on today, nice to end the week on a ositive note, with no posture too difficult in today's session.

I try not to let negativity get the better of me, so even when I wobbled like crazy today with the right foot behind left foot sequence, I decided not to be defeated by it instead I stopped the video and repeated it from the start of that bit, and got it right the next time. So I ended up doing 24 mins not 22 mins, but hey what's 2 mins amongst friends.

Yogagirl what a lovely break to look forward to in May. You'll have to tell us all about it when you come back. I've never done more than a weekend of yoga and worry that I might get a bit weary of it, but having said that, doing all these dailies with Adriene makes me think I'm up for it!

visca · 13/01/2019 19:26

One of my goals this year is to do as much yoga as I can! I did Adriene's original 30-day programme in November, fell out of practice over the holidays, and now have been following Dedicate, one vid each day.

The first three days were really dull - way too much waffle - but I've enjoyed most of it so far. Made a note of days 6, 10 and 11 as favourites to be repeated later. Really happy with the programme so far!

Bombardier25966 · 13/01/2019 19:27

Yogagirl11 is advertising her own retreat. She's posted the same thing on five separate threads!

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 13/01/2019 19:35

Thanks everyone for the welcome- I’m enjoying reading what is to
Come! Day 2 for me today and yikes I struggled with all the planks. I enjoyed it however; think some of my form is coming back to me.

coffeecow · 13/01/2019 19:39

Day 12 'on the books' enjoyed today. Felt nice and relaxed which is what a Sunday calls for!

Tomorrow evening I have an exercise class (which almost killed me last week!!) so I'm hoping to get day 13 done straight after work to give me an hour or so in between.

Well done everyone. So close to the 2 week mark!

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/01/2019 20:04

How are people finding running two days together? I think I might try and catch up to real time this week- started late so am on day 6 - need to do two a day for the foreseeable! Is this feasible?

noodlezoodle · 13/01/2019 20:34

TheGirlWhoLived I think you'll be fine running two together. Lots of them are around 20/25 minutes so not too bad to do them back to back and still shorter than most 'live' yoga classes.

I did 11 and 12 together today to catch up and absolutely loved both of them, both saved for future reference. Nowhere near a crow pose for Day 11 but never mind, I'll get there!

Hockneypool · 13/01/2019 20:53

Day 12 ‘on the books’ really enjoyed it. Wasn’t going to do it as hips hurt a bit - but it was just perfect and what was needed. I think this Adriene knows her stuff!

@thegirlwholived I think you can run some of them together and you can run a few days behind too. As Adriene said today you are in charge of your own happiness and yoga practice. Just do what feels good!

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/01/2019 21:23

I’m just feeling so much better after I’ve done them that I reckon I could physically do about 6 together Grin crows pose sounds a little trickier though

quirkychick · 13/01/2019 21:41

I ran two together as I was one day behind, I split some of the early ones in two due to time constraints. I felt like I had enough energy for two shorter ones today. Thighs hurt this evening, though.

Talisin · 13/01/2019 21:49

Days ten, eleven and twelve in the books! I had only planned to maybe do ten and eleven and nearly stopped at ten but took a 10 minute break and felt up to doing eleven and then went straight into twelve. Didn’t even attempt crow - the likelyhood of me pitching forward onto my face was around 100%Grin but my balance is getting there and I can get my heels down in ddog again now. I imagine I’ll ache tomorrow though.

Spudlet · 13/01/2019 21:54

Day 12 done, glad I did it. Not sure when i'll feel up to 11 though, soon I hope. Still can't get me heels down in ddog, the backs of my legs are way too tight Sad. One day though!

daisychain01 · 13/01/2019 21:58

The 'running 2 days together' will be relevant for me this coming week - 2 days I know I just won't stand a chance of fitting my yoga in - 1 day being a Memorial lunch for my Aunty and I know I won't fancy doing plank and downdog after that Grin

Bombardier thanks for the tip-off about the yoga retreat upthread, a bit cheeky. I make a point never to click on links... I did think it sounded quite specific....

daisychain01 · 13/01/2019 22:02

Well done Talisin that was a good catch up. Let's face it, if you're used to doing a 90min class it is doable to fit 3 in, but her past few sessions have been intense, so you achieved a lot there!
