Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

I'm so behind, although I did do a rather strenuous 90 minute vinyasa class last night, so I think that counts as at least 2 days, right?!

Will catch up over the weekend.

Redpriestandmozart · 11/01/2019 12:00

Oh looking forward to 10, Friday is my night in front of the big telly doing it too. I liked yesterdays, nice pace and I even managed 2 1/2 press ups!

jamaisjedors · 11/01/2019 12:06

I went to my usual yoga class yesterday so I will be a day out - so day 9 tonight.

Don't think I'll try and catch up because this way I might have a hope of fitting in day 12 (shorter) on Monday morning.

sweetkitty · 11/01/2019 12:10

Well my yoga journey has come to an abrupt end. I fell yesterday and have broke my sternum, I’m in so much pain despite painkillers and won’t be doing anything for 6 weeks. I’m so upset about it.

When I’m better I’ll start Dedicate from Day 8 where I left off.

jamaisjedors · 11/01/2019 12:14

oh no you ppoor thing. Keep in mind you can do it when you are well again, it's there waiting for you.

Look after yourself.

AugustRose · 11/01/2019 12:14

sweetkitty Shock how did you do that, it sounds very painful. I hope you mend quickly.

Spudlet · 11/01/2019 12:15

Oh no! Flowers sweetkitty. I hope you've got some good painkillers and feel better soon.

itssquidstella · 11/01/2019 13:09

Bad luck, @sweetkitty! Hope you feel better soon.

I'm going to the pub after work tonight so may not be steady enough to do day 10 this evening! I'll be able to double up tomorrow though, if necessary - I don't like to get more than a day behind.

Oh no poor you.
What does she mean my catch a wave? Can get my foot to the front of the mat in one go now. Yay. Going to buy an actual mat tomorrow.

Spudlet · 11/01/2019 15:31

I don't know if it's what she means but by catching a wave I've always thought of it as linking movements together in the way that a wave rolls in and out, with the ebb and flow being two parts of one motion, iyswim? Did that make any sense at all? I think I might have confused myself Confused

DeadBod · 11/01/2019 15:52

sweet oh dear, hope you're feeling better soon Flowers

Day 10 completed. This has been my favourite day so far. I got a little breathless at one point and I enjoyed the continuous flow of moves. I'll be making a note of this session and will certainly be doing it again after January.

I've surprised myself at being a yoga convert, I've dismissed it in the past as "not being for me" as I'm used to a more energetic pace of exercise.

Habadabadoo · 11/01/2019 16:56

Day 10 in the books!
It seems a lot of us like the more 'aerobic' sessions.
And I've never received so many invitations before in my life!

mynameiscalypso · 11/01/2019 16:59

Thanks chutneypig, today's was definitely a bit easier and more enjoyable!

Day 10 done. Enjoyed today.

jamaisjedors · 11/01/2019 19:16

Day 9 done.

Ok, I knew how to do the breathing so did lots. I was kind of impatient with the rest despite the video being shorter I was in a hurry for it to end. Friday night fatigue?

Spudlet · 11/01/2019 19:33

Day 10 done. I liked that. Even the chairs! I can feel my thighs becoming less wibbly wih every one Grin

FranKubelik · 11/01/2019 20:14

Day 10 done. So pleased I started this. I'm not a natural at yoga but I'm enjoying the journey and learning to trust the process.

coffeecow · 11/01/2019 20:40

Day 10 done. I had every distraction going and couldn't get into the zone but I know that this is the sort of practice I normally love so I'll definitely come back to it when it's quieter here. But it's done and I'm so proud of myself for sticking with it every day so far! And proud of all of you too!!

LadyLance · 11/01/2019 20:49

Done day 9 and 10 tonight to catch up! I felt weirdly good after 9, so launched straight into 10 and did struggle a bit- my legs were a bit shaky, but I also feel like I've had a real workout, which is cool.

I think my downward dogs are improving.

Warrior 2 is my favourite pose.

Also the one after chair pose where we went on tiptoes, adriene looked like she was floating. I am pretty sure I did not!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 11/01/2019 21:01

I really enjoyed that as chair pose is literally the one and only yoga pose I can nail PLUS I didn’t topple over.

Win win

Ulysses · 12/01/2019 08:11

Day 10 and I was immediately put off by the crow pose photo from the video. I'm also sore from yesterday and didn't sleep well bit I got through it and it was fine. A few balancing poses that I'm never great at. It's not a practice that I'll repeat but it's in the books for today. Anyone else have achey triceps from Day 9?

Ulysses · 12/01/2019 08:12

Day 10? It's day 11 I meant!

MyView2 · 12/01/2019 09:52

Argh! I was doing so well but went out last night and forgot all about Adriene and her yoga. What do you do when you miss a session, do two today or add a day on?
