Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

I did Day 9 this morning and am pleased that I'm up to date with it all.

Mrs8 it started off quite gently with the breathing and was more energetic by the end of it.

I am still collapsing with some of the lunges but glad I got it done. I like doing it so early as it sets me up for the rest of the day. I am still sore though, but it's in a nice.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 10/01/2019 17:23

9 was quite fast (faster than normal) in places I found so maybe not right before bed.

Habadabadoo · 10/01/2019 18:00

Day 9 done. Enjoyed that one.
Well done to everyone still doing it Smile

daisychain01 · 10/01/2019 18:35

Loved Day 9, nice variety with the breathing practice followed by lunges and vinyasa flow including warrior and the lovely humble warrior which I find relaxing, or maybe I'm just weird.

Best day for me so far, I'm feeling each day is helping me with balance and proprioception (knowing where your body is in space) which I struggle with. I'm a wobbler but apparently wobbling is very good as it strengthens the tendons and connective tissue.

Spudlet · 10/01/2019 18:58

Enjoyed the moving part of day nine, found the first bit quite difficult, but I don't think I quite got how it was supposed to go. Also, I have a bit of a cold so my nose is a little sore!

In the books though!

Crocky · 10/01/2019 19:01

I’ve fallen a day behind. I did day 8 today but my back was achy before I started and the sitting didn’t help it so I just ended up grumpy instead of relaxed.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 10/01/2019 19:30

I just got back from a run and I'm worn out. Not sure if I'll manage it today. Is it a good one?

@crocky yesterday made me grumpy too.

Talisin · 10/01/2019 19:32

Haven’t been able to do it the last two days so had a double catch-up with days seven and eight this evening. I’m usually bored to death by sun salutations but quite enjoyed this even though I was feeling a little dizzy and sick by the end. Glad it was short though or I’d have had to stop I think. Went straight into eight after and everyone who said it was a good one to do right after were correct. I feel very stretched in my legs (I think I’ll be feeling it tomorrow) and that cross legged forward fold was downright painful.

Will plan to do nine tomorrow and another double catch-up with ten and eleven on Saturday when I have the house to myself all day!

chutneypig · 10/01/2019 20:27

The breathing was easier than when I’ve tri d before although I still find a rhythm difficult. I enjoyed Day 9, it was a challenge in places and definitely worked my arms but I can feel improvements in my postures and downward dog is getting easier and feeling more natural.

coffeecow · 10/01/2019 20:28

Day 9 in the books!! Really enjoyed today's. Loved the child's pose at the end - felt very 'in the zone' after the warriors. Loving it!

LadyLance · 10/01/2019 20:31

I missed a day yesterday because I was too busy, so day 8 for me today. I might attempt to catch up over the weekend, but I'm not sure yet! Anyway, day 8 was meant to be nice and gentle I'm sure but my hamstrings are so tight that it was a pretty painful day for me! Probably did them some good though!

Samb79 · 10/01/2019 21:02

Not a great session for me on day 9. Grandma brought the kids home halfway through, just as I was getting into the swing of it, so I paused it and found the second half really hard. Not a fan of the breathing, just couldn’t get the hang of it!
Chalking it down to an iffy session, looking forward to an uninterrupted day 10!
Anyone seeing any physical improvements?

whitershadeofpale · 10/01/2019 21:18

I did day 9 today. Think I’m coming down with a cold and my balance was a bit all over the shop but I’m glad to be into week 2 now.

I'm keeping up to date (although I made Adriene's suggest substitution for Day 6). Normally I don't like the slow ones but quite enjoyed Day 8. I actually found today's dragged a bit - not sure why because it's usually the kind of thing I like - but morning sickness doesn't hugely appreciate being in a downward dog so that may have had something to do with it...

FranKubelik · 10/01/2019 21:47

Day 9 done. Pleased to hear that wobbling is a good sign DaisyChain!

Hockneypool · 10/01/2019 22:00

Enjoyed day 9. Feeling pleasantly achy after my weekly class yesterday and a bit of cycling this evening. Even though I’m struggling to fit it in at times it’s clearly lifting my slight January low mood.
I’m a bit wobbly in places too so very glad it’s a good sign!

piglet81 · 10/01/2019 22:27

Bunking off tonight Blush but will do days 9 & 10 tomorrow night!

cheminotte · 11/01/2019 07:14

Was 5 mins into day 8 yesterday when a —not so— little person came to tell me they couldn’t sleep. By the time he was settled it was 10pm and time for bed.

chutneypig · 11/01/2019 07:27

Day 10 done. I’ve a three hour drive after work tonight so I needed to get it in a snow what a start to the day. My favourite so far. Nicely paced flow, with plenty of variety, warrriors, triangle, lunges and twists. A good stretch at the end too, I feel well set up for the day.

Hopefully it’ll be easier on the morning sickness front mynameiscalypso, there are plenty of downward dogs but not holding them like yesterday. That must have been tough!

quirkychick · 11/01/2019 07:34

Day 9 done, I'm still not up to my usual energy levels but managed ok. Downward dog is not so great with a bit of a blocked nose! I fast forwarded a bit, but have done enough Yoga with Adriene to start to predict what's next, sometimes Grin.

Ulysses · 11/01/2019 07:37

Day 10 is my favourite so far as well chutneypig. I liked the pace and could keep up and it went really quickly. A pleasant start to the day.

eurochick · 11/01/2019 08:59

I'm a bit behind but planning to catch up at the weekend. Day 8 was nice before bed last night.

AugustRose · 11/01/2019 10:01

I liked Day 10 too, I felt my heart rate picking up and the pace was good. It was good for my shoulders as I am always very tight in the morning because of the way I sleep.
