Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Same here with toes Mrsr8. Confused

Day 7 done. The black screens were disconcerting so grateful for the heads up beforehand. I enjoyed it -short and very active. I'm much better at hopping to the front of the mat this year too. Not brilliant but last year I couldn't do it at all!

A good counterpoint to yesterday. I'm off to my first Pilates class of 2019 now and I'm nicely warmed up. Smile

Thanks DistanceCall, that helped today (though thankfully Day 7 was shorter and less on the wrists than the last few...)

I'm also glad for the heads up on the black screen, that was a bit weird and as I stream through the TV, I don't have the youtube comments. Otherwise, it was very lovely (and quite warming, may save a bit on heating between this and hot flushes Grin).

Redpriestandmozart · 08/01/2019 15:45

WOW I loved day 7 I did it earlier in the day than usual so wonder if that made any difference but I was able to do every single pose in about the right sort of flow, so I'm very happy with today indeed :)

carrie74 · 08/01/2019 16:10

Woke up early this morning for day 5, will try to do at least Day 6 and possibly 7 tonight to catch up. Had a 'proper' class last night that was pretty strong, but some of it definitely felt doable. I didn't really think Adrienne had done anything for me yet, but seems I was mistaken 😀.

Ulysses · 08/01/2019 16:43

I've just completed day 6 and 7 back to back. Felt okay with all of the crunches, it was hard work but satisfying. I'm glad I did 7 as well as it was a really good counterpoint with all the flows. I'm back to 5am wake ups tomorrow so doubt I'll be doing it in the morning before work. I didn't manage it either this morning though, and it wasn't too bad doing it later on in the day. I really am feeling much better with it all.

DS made me laugh today and it huuuuuurt 😳😂

Shall be doing day 7 once he's safely in bed!

FranKubelik · 08/01/2019 17:39

Day 7 done. I found it a nice contrast to day 6 (which I'm still feeling in my abs).

Habadabadoo · 08/01/2019 18:08

Day 7 done nice and quick Smile

cheminotte · 08/01/2019 18:21

Did day 6 while dc watching tv before tea. Crunches were hard but I focused on keeping shoulders wide so I hope my neck will be better.
Finally got a response back from a local yoga studio which has a class once a week I could manage in my lunch hour.
Their classes cost nearly £10 each (if I buy 5 in advance). Getting a membership would be cheaper if I was going to go regularly but I don’t think I’ll manage it every week with work commitments so I think it’s better to be as flexible as possible. How much do you pay for a class outside London?

whitershadeofpale · 08/01/2019 19:00

Day 7 done- loved it! Really felt as if I’m making progress towards getting to the top of the mat in one step and making my heals touch the ground in downward facing dog.

Spudlet · 08/01/2019 19:17

Another one who enjoyed that very much - that's on the do again list, short and sweet but v satisfying!

Spudlet · 08/01/2019 19:19

My classes are £5 a session if you buy four at once, that's a small local class in the back room of a pub (good teacher though), and doesn't run in winter as the room is too cold. Or the same teacher does a class at the local leisure centre, which is £7 a go. That's rural Norfolk pricing, anyway.

coffeecow · 08/01/2019 19:21

Day 7 done. Took a lot of mental effort to get to the mat but so pleased as I did as it was a lovely one 🙏🏼 and I know tomorrow will be nice and chilled

LadyLance · 08/01/2019 19:22

I enjoyed 7, I enjoyed the faster pace of movements, but I agree, the screen going black didn't really work for me at all. If it is a deliberate thing then a warning at the start of the video would be good.

jamaisjedors · 08/01/2019 19:25

I don't think the black screen is deliberate, in the comments on YouTube, Adriene says she is working on why this is happening.

Spudlet · 08/01/2019 19:26

I don't think it was deliberate, the video description has been edited to warn people and it seems to be a tech issue. Apparently it looks ok at their end but obviously something is being lost in transmission!

carrie74 · 08/01/2019 19:45

Just caught up with days 6&7, liked the increased pace. Thought I was doing ok with the abs but they just. Kept. Going. Managed it all though, so that's good. Am a bit achey today, not sure if it's post-Centreparcs weekend and/or tough yoga class last night, plus 3 Adrienne sessions today Grin, but it's good that somethings working! Circuits and then PT session at end of this week, that's going to be the big test.

CatherineCawood · 08/01/2019 20:45

It's gone from super slow to uber fast. I found it a bit fast and was also trying to workout why my laptop kept getting a black screen. Not very relaxing at all!!! I was swearing like a loon!!!!

Never mind that is a week done. Hurrah!!

chutneypig · 08/01/2019 20:47

I thoroughly enjoyed day 7, the flow suited me after finding yesterday a bit disjointed. I’m really trying to focus on my breathing and the flow helps the rhythm I think.

itssquidstella · 08/01/2019 21:02

I thought today's session was great; my breathing came together really well and I enjoyed the faster pace. I hope she continues like this, with minimal waffle and maximum movement (although a meditation session tomorrow will be nice).

OnceUponAGiraffe · 08/01/2019 21:11

Just did 6 and 7 together. My third baby is only 13 weeks old so I’m going to use that as the excuse that my attempts at the core were poor. And doing a bun up holding that pose is just showing off!

daisychain01 · 08/01/2019 21:35

(Said in an Adrienne-style Texas drawwl)

Day Seven, aan I feeel like Heaven Grin.

Nice 17 mins of flow. Glad it wasn't any longer than that, as I did my first spin class of 2019 this morning, which just about finished me off, but managed to recover some composure by this evening.

Yes the black screen was weird wasn't it? I couldn't work out what was going on, so I just closed my eyes and followed her prompts. Actually it wasn't too bad as vinyasa flow is quite repetitive so I just kept going and hoped for the best Grin

daisychain01 · 08/01/2019 21:37

Gosh, yes, we've done a whole week. Nice work, y'all!

daisychain01 · 08/01/2019 21:43

Did anyone notice the Dedicate videos are now available to download. She says you can 'pay whatever you like' well that just gives me a dilemma. What price is reasonable? It would certainly solve my proble of how to run this Thursday's session in the work gym without fast WiFi internet access....
