Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Day 6 done here too. My favourite one so far which it sounds like many people agree with.
Hard on my ties though, who knew you could strengthen them!
@cheminotte I struggle with tensing my neck too on the crunches.
Any one got any tips for us?
@PollyFlinderz sorry to hear that. Great news you have found a class though. I once did an elderly/injury focused class without realising once and it's really gentle.

GreenHatHacker · 07/01/2019 21:12

It's fun reading everyone's comments first and trying to imagine what Adriene is putting us through. Read this thread on the train home before attempting the session and wondered what you all meant by the 'one legged hover'. I shall wonder no more! Alarming crunch from left knee at elevation time & v sore abs now - but the neck & shoulder pain from first few days has eased off, so progressing slowly :)

chutneypig · 07/01/2019 21:12

Day 6 done but I didn’t get into it at all. Not quite sure what was wrong. But I did it, roll on tomorrow!

coffeecow · 07/01/2019 21:44

Well done everyone. Day 6 is always the first hurdle in my head each year. Sounds like we all made it. Nice short one tomorrow and then Day 8 is usually always a gentle meditation theme from memory!

Gumpendorf · 07/01/2019 21:49

Polly ThanksThanks. It sounds horrible and I'm glad you've found a class. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Qumqhat. Good luck. What a horrible thing to do on day 1. You may need Ginas well.

Mrsr8 I'm glad you're feeling better.

Habadab and chemin. I've had similar neck problems and I've found consciously pulling the shoulders out and down helps. I also use Tiger Balm to ease the pain when I don't. Smile

A tough but really enjoyable session.
I really enjoyed the pace of this one. I found it really easy to find my rhyme, and my breath.
Totally looking forward to tomorrow.

Talisin · 07/01/2019 21:56

Day six done and that’s the last time I’m likely to have an unbroken 6 day run as I’m properly back to work tomorrow and just won’t have time to do it. Hopefully I’ll be able to do day seven on Wednesday and possibly day eight as well but otherwise it’ll be catch-up Thursday. Anyway, today was better than I had anticipated - couldn’t do the knee raise lifts but everything else was achievable and didn’t hurt too much! I suspect I’ll be feeling it tomorrow though.

Hockneypool · 07/01/2019 22:05

Day 6 on the books. Couldn’t quite believe the one legged hover and even better could do it on one side - yay most unexpected. Wrists are a bit sore but the other aches have disappeared for the moment. Feeling good.

sweetkitty · 07/01/2019 23:25

Ouch felt that one. Definitely want to come back to it at the end of the 30 days to see if I’ve improved any. I don’t have a strong core at all.

Threesocks · 08/01/2019 06:29

Loved day 6 - did it last night before bed. Thought I would really feel it this morning, but so far so good. I am definitely going to revisit that session in the future.
Looking forward to the short session today as I am in London on business today and can fit it in late tonight before bed.

eurochick · 08/01/2019 07:03

I did Day 6 before bed. I quite enjoyed it - improving my core strength is one of the reasons I am doing this. It was nice to have something other than crunches to work with. I found the one legged hover much easier on one side that the other.

Frumpyfatand40ish · 08/01/2019 07:07

Wow, yesterday's was hard work. I kept thinking I was going to snap my toes!! I can't sit back on my feet, but my hips are very tight, so maybe that's it.

I have a physio appointment tomorrow to try to sort out my back. It was terrible before Christmas, but yoga every day is making a massive difference. I never give myself time to do anything, so my back gets worse and worse until finally it siezes and I'm no use to anyone. I must keep up yoga or pilates in February. And walking around the office yesterday, my legs felt stronger.

Like many others my neck tensed up yesterday so I'll try the recommended shoulders out and down position from up thread. Thanks!

Really chuffed I'm keeping this up. Had run out of time on Sunday to do day 5 or so I thought but when I was heading to bed about 11.15 I decided to do it then rather than Mumsnetting.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 08/01/2019 07:13

Was feeling bit apprehensive of day 6, but managed to do nearly all of it. Hoping that strengthening my core will help with lower back pain.

Redpriestandmozart · 08/01/2019 07:31

One leg hover, boy was that hard for me, I could not lift that knee of the floor (without dropping the other leg to assist). Once again it was a sweaty one for me.

I love reading in advance just what the day ahead holds!

BigGreenOlives · 08/01/2019 07:35

I can feel my abs a tiny bit this morning, hooray.

Ietthemeatcake · 08/01/2019 07:54

Day 7 done, really enjoyed it, lovely, energising flow.

Be warned that the screen goes black when you are supposed to be focused on your breathing and not watching the video. Do not adjust your set! I was a little distracted by this at first till I realised it was part of it rather then my phone playing up! Loads of YouTube comments from confused zogis.

Namaste all 🙏

jamaisjedors · 08/01/2019 07:57

Day 6 done last night for me too.

Am pleased I'm keeping it up and finding a slot, in the end my plans for early morning are not working out so I'm doing it after work which is not such a bad thing (instead of just collapsing in a heap!).

Mailfuckoff · 08/01/2019 08:03

Day 7 done, haven't worked out where on my house to do this. My bedroom is too small and today in the lounge I accidentally kicked the cat Blush
Also I keep forgetting to breathe,!

AugustRose · 08/01/2019 09:46

Day 7 done. As Ietthemeatcake says, the screen goes black at times and I found it very off putting as I had to stop the flow a couple of times before I realised it wasn't my monitor. Especially at the end I felt like I had missed something and not like I've finished properly Confused

Never mind, if you haven't done it yet then just listen to her voice when it goes off, she does come back! Tomorrow is a nice calm meditate day, yay.

Polly don't feel bad about having to stop, it's good that you know you have to rather than continuing and injuring yourself further, I hope the new class goes well, let us know how you get on.

DeadBod · 08/01/2019 09:48

Day 7 done and yep, the black screen confused me. I kept tapping my tablet to try and bring the video back and then realised after a while what was happening. I'd prefer her to say visible.
I've done a weights class today so this was a nice follow on.
1 week in and we're all doing well.

quirkychick · 08/01/2019 10:36

I managed most of day 6, as my cold 's a bit better, but stopped before the obliques. The one legged hover is new, the hover on all fours is one Adriene's done before, so that feels ok. I managed it and nearly got my heel down moving into 3-legged dog. I completely get what she means about the wrists, when I first did her Yoga Camp (3yrs ago), I struggled with my wrists, but can feel how much stronger they are. Adriene has a good video on wrist alignment, which I found very helpful early on.

polly that yoga class sounds perfect! The teacher can tailor it to you exactly. Not nearly so serious, but I had hamstring tendonitis a few years ago, and couldn't do any pose that involved bending my knee more than 90°, which was very restrictive. I hope you recover well and discover some good modifications.

Cherrypi · 08/01/2019 10:39

Ah I thought she was flashing more of her tummy than she wanted and they were trying to cover it up. Went fast today.
