Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Congrats on the PB Cheminotte.

Done earlier than usual today. I decided not to save it for bedtime because I'm on teenage taxi duty tonight and not sure what time I'll get the phone call to pick up DD and her mates.

I liked it today. It seemed loads easier because I'd done pretty much all the moves in pilates. I did keep having to look up to see what she was doing though, so maybe for the shorter videos I should watch them first then do them.

See you all tomorrow.

BerylStreep · 05/01/2019 22:02

Thanks for the suggestion of this. I was a few days late starting, so did day 2 today.

Gosh she's bendy!! I'm not. I've never done yoga before, but have done pilates for about 10 years (although not for the last year, maybe more, due to injury). I find it quite hard to concentrate on what I'm doing and watch the screen at the same time, but I suppose that will come.

I can't sit cross legged at all due to a dodgy knee, so I've been sitting in a y position. I'm not sure if that's acceptable. I might have a look at some of the basic videos to understand the poses, although there seems to be a lot of crossover with pilates.

Looking forward to day 3 tomorrow

Shockers · 05/01/2019 22:04

Thank you- I plan to start tomorrow!

Talisin · 05/01/2019 22:35

Day four done. Any other day and I suspect I would’ve enjoyed this a lot more but today was my first day back at work since Christmas and I’m tired and my feet are freezing and kept cramping. Anyway, I did like the stretching, that was very welcome today.

piglet81 · 05/01/2019 23:08

Did days 3 & 4 tonight to catch up. Really enjoyed day 4!

noodlezoodle · 05/01/2019 23:37

I'm up to date so far, and although today was a lot shorter, I found it the most challenging so far. Had quite wobbly legs after I'd finished! I'm very out of practice and have had slightly achey shoulders and abs from previous days, but I'm really enjoying it. Lovely to have this thread and hear what everyone else thinks of it too.

flowerbombVR · 05/01/2019 23:44

I'm in. Will start tomorrow.
Thanks !!

sweetkitty · 06/01/2019 00:41

Can I join? Have done everyday so far. Found day 3 really hard I have to do baby planks but my neck and shoulders were very sore this morning. Enjoyed today’s though nice and relaxed

qumquat · 06/01/2019 08:06

I'm finding this is definitely helping with my anxiety and insomnia. I'm still very wakeful but I'm able to go back to sleep rather than panic when I keep waking up. I also did a run last night and felt like my body was much looser and my stride was longer. All good because I feel like my world is falling apart otherwise. Wanted to note down the positives to keep me motivated.

Spudlet · 06/01/2019 08:49

Flowers Qumquat

mizu · 06/01/2019 08:55

I've joined too. Haven't done yoga for years. Day 5 for me today although I think i may be following a different 30 day programme with her on YouTube. Anyway, it is making me feel lovely and relaxed of an evening.
Back to work tomorrow though so I will really have to make an effort to keep it going.

BlessThisMess · 06/01/2019 09:05

I'm joining in with those who have achey neck and shoulders! I just did a quick 10 mins this morning as short on time but pleased that I did something anyway.

Mailfuckoff · 06/01/2019 09:15

I found today's very hard, has to stop a few times and as I have low blood pressure I find the quick changes quite difficult, but I did some of it

Ietthemeatcake · 06/01/2019 10:16

I also found day 5 harder. I'm sore from previous days and a long walk t yesterday.
I enjoyed it, but I found the three legged dogs quiet hard and at the end I had to drop from down dog to child's pose as my shoulders were aching.

Crocky · 06/01/2019 10:25

Yep, I found it hard today.

TulipsInbloom1 · 06/01/2019 10:28

Just added her YTfeed to my list so I can join in. Are they all around the 45min Mark?

Lollydaydream · 06/01/2019 10:29

I enjoyed today, it was challenging but not too long! I have noticed she never says to change the way your legs are crossed over part way through, so I keep reminding myself to do that but not necessarily at the right time to get equal time each way. Having found my body quite one-sided I find this important esp. if seated for a long time. I admired the way she managed the dog wandering onto her mat though!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 06/01/2019 10:37

My poor DHs back is in bits after Day 4 so I’m glad to see a couple of others were a bit battered by it (that sounds wrong, you know what I mean).

LadyLance · 06/01/2019 10:47

I didn't manage to fit day 4 in yesterday, so I have done it this morning and plan to do day 5 this evening. Day 4 felt a bit like a let up, although I struggled at times with tight hamstrings. Looking forward to day 5!

I'm really tired today, so may substitute day 5 with some yin yoga later.

AugustRose · 06/01/2019 12:01

My shoulders were sore this morning so I found Day 5 quite tough - especially those high lunges. I know I'll feel better as we get along but oh my I am sore! But tomorrow is 6 pack abs Grin - for those who haven't followed Adriene before, don't panic, she is gentle.

eleventybillion · 06/01/2019 12:07

Day 2 today - lovely and gentle but looking forward to it gearing up a notch tomorrow. Back at work after the Christmas break so will have to figure out how to fit it all in (and half marathon training too - eek).

Good tip piglet to do two of the shorter ones together. Thanks!

Ulysses · 06/01/2019 12:16

I skipped a couple of days so am only did Day 3 this morning. I was interrupted a couple of times which distracted me a bit. I am going to try to do day 4 later tonight since it's only 20 minutes but taking on board people saying how tough it is.

CatherineCawood · 06/01/2019 12:28

Day 5 done! That was quite a hard one, had to go to child's pose a couple of times for a few seconds. Frozen should type thing doesn't help. Although this appears to be helping it long term.
