Dedicate: 30 days of Yoga with Adriene

Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

I've done day 3 today. I noticed the extreme waffling especially at the beginning. I finished a couple of the stretches before Adriene but my tree poses have improved. It's definitely more meditative this year.

I've also had a cold for a couple of weeks and my energy is low so it's a struggle to do each day. I'm grateful to everyone for being here because it keeps me going. ThanksThanks

For PPs who haven't started, it's not too late. Just start when you want/feel better and work at your pace. The videos will stay on YT. Good luck Smile

Keeponswimming and Raininsummer - I wouldn't push things too hard, if you are suffering from a cold or have a fever. It's like any exercise, if you don't feel right, do listen to your body - don't feel you must do each day on that day, you can always catch up and extend into February. Your health is precious x. This is the first Christmas for years I haven't had the lurgy, I couldn't have done 30 Days last Jan, I was wiped out with a chest infection, nature's way of saying "Sto-o-o-o-p" Smile

ItsquidStella - thank you, I need to keep trying then and hopefully it will all come good!

daisychain01 · 05/01/2019 17:16

What do people like to wear for their 30 Days ?

I like my Next cotton leggings , the loose type with the draw-string waistband (I need an elasticated waistband after Christmas Grin. Plus long sleeved T shirt I can tuck in. And soft fleece blanket (wistfully hopes for shavasana today...)

Just about start my Day 4 - I'm in my PJs today Blush (excuse: cold, dark outside, just had a hot shower)

I wear whatever I'm wearing anyway on top and I change into leggings. Just about to do day 4. I'm hoping for more yoga, less chatting

CourageCalls · 05/01/2019 17:33

I just wear a sports bra and leggings. I can't stand fiddling with my top when in downward dog!!

I normally do higher intensity work outs but I'm really enjoying the slow pace whilst still feeling I'm doing something. The leg work made mine wobble today. Smile

Spudlet · 05/01/2019 17:38

Day 4 done here. It's so cold that the only warm room is the living room with the fire, so practiced with DS, DH and ddog all in with me! Apart from DS sitting on my feet a couple of times, they were all very good Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 05/01/2019 17:53

I wear pyjama trousers with a vest top if I'm doing yoga when I get up. Otherwise just change into a pair of leggings if it's during the day and I'm wearing other clothes.

BonBonVoyage · 05/01/2019 18:02

I've just done day 4. It was great! A good stretch, some core work, I felt like I'd done 7 minutes, not 20!

Spudlet · 05/01/2019 18:03

I just wore a pair of leggings with my tops I'd been wearing all day today, though usually I prefer to change into my yoga bra and top as
well - they're more comfortable and getting changed helps me to get into the mindset. Couldn't be bothered today though, it's way too chilly to be removing layers unless strictly necessary 🥶. I normally try to have bare feet although I have a few pairs of socks with pimples on the bottom for when it's really cold.

CatherineCawood · 05/01/2019 18:06

Just done day 4, it went very fast. Also did parkrun this morning so can just slump for the rest of the day.

Habadabadoo · 05/01/2019 18:14

Just did day 4 with the dog and cat!
I too was a bit wobbly!
I like the short sessions Grin

daisychain01 · 05/01/2019 18:31

Meant to mention I can't wear a wired sports bra, I had an excruciating class once with the wires digging into me whenever I raised my arms overhead eeek. So now it's soft pull-on one to save the paaaain Smile.

Love 💖 Day 4 maybe her shorter sessions mean she's got to get straight into the instruction so less time for fill-in words lol.

Lunges were a challenge because I don't like the kneeling much (lots of padding on mat helped), and moving into a kneeling twist I could feel a bit of brow sweltering, phew the effort. But good too! Nice bridge to butterfly at the end with heart opening. I can just imagine myself at the wheel of the car in a traffic jam on the way home, trying to do my heart opening lol I'd get some "weirdo stares" from other drivers!

daisychain01 · 05/01/2019 18:33

Did anyone else notice she must have started the session at sunset, because by the end it was dark outside her window (or was it just faked and I'm just gullible Grin

DeadBod · 05/01/2019 18:36

Thoroughly enjoyed day 4. Nice and quick but feeling stretched out. I took my t-shirt off as it got in the way so ended up in just sports bra and leggings. I've got a good set up with my tablet leaning on a full length mirror so that I can check my poses.

bastedyoungturkey · 05/01/2019 18:39

I noticed the sun setting today Smile

Onemorefireball · 05/01/2019 18:57

Day 4 done and today I actually appreciated when the moves were slower as it gave me time to focus on my body. I was disappointed when it finished today.

whitershadeofpale · 05/01/2019 19:40

Day 4 done, feel lovely and chilled now. Really liked today, thought it was a really good balance of meditative and strong.

FranKubelik · 05/01/2019 19:57

Day 4 done. I was quite wobbly at times too. Really enjoying this.

eleventybillion · 05/01/2019 20:23

Running a bit behind you amazing people but great to get a sneaky peek of what’s coming up, and the chance to steal your great tips.

Day 1 today - like others I found holding the poses surprisingly tough (specially after Park Run!). Slowing down is tough for me so good to work through my normal tendencies to power through.

Looking forward to Day 2 tomorrow!

daisychain01 · 05/01/2019 20:44

Sleep tight all you yogis, see you in Day 5 Smile 🧘‍♀️

Thank you for creating this thread @Gumpendorf, nice one!

I’ve just done days 3&4 back to back. I have a feeling I’m going to ache in the morning...

cheminotte · 05/01/2019 21:44

I did day 2 today (after a PB at park run). I found the first 10 mins of waffle hard to concentrate on and will be glad when they are back to being 20-30 mins.

AugustRose · 05/01/2019 21:45

Didn't think I'd fit today's in as we've been out at Beamish all day but managed to get it in just now, thankfully 20 mins was just enough, Day 4 done and looking forward to tomorrow.

I've been wearing PJ bottoms and a long sleeve top (my house is cold) and a soft sports top - I wear a sports bra for other exercise but can't for yoga as it digs in and I like to be comfy Smile
