Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

I'm the rare position of no child or husband home this morning and you morning birds have inspired me. Going to do day 4 now 🌿

eurochick · 05/01/2019 09:42

Just done Day 3 as I was too tired before bed last night. I'm glad I did it in the morning as it was quite an energising session. My tree poses were like saplings in a gale! I need to work on my core stability (one of my reasons for doing this).

I don't mind the waffle too much. I find it helpful to still my busy brain.

daisychain01 · 05/01/2019 10:16

Ive given up trying to move from downfacing dog into forward lunge seamlessly. Now I gently hoik my ankle/lower calf and ease it through into the forward position. I live in the vain hope that if I keep doing it for enough years somehow my leg will find its own way there through muscle memory, fat chance of that !! Grin

BlessThisMess · 05/01/2019 10:28

I am a bit behind - Did Day 1 over two days as I got interrupted, didn't manage to do any on the third day so have just done Day 2 video this morning. I found it a bit tough, and felt a bit sick and dizzy after 30 mins so had to stop and just lie down. Maybe because it was 10am by then and I'd only had a cup of coffee and then exercised. The fact that I'm so clumsy with it all proves how much I need it! I hope it's not long before it makes me feel great rather than a bit rubbish.

VioletCharlotte · 05/01/2019 10:40

Got up early and did Day 4 first thing. Much shorter than previous days, but a nice session.

Samb79 · 05/01/2019 10:42

Day 4 was lovely 🙏💕

Crocky · 05/01/2019 11:13

Day 4 done. DH got up earlier than I expected and was crashing about in the kitchen so not so peaceful.

calamariqueen · 05/01/2019 11:15

My day 4 was set to the background of a screaming toddler (under DH's supervision) & a whiney dog (under my supervision 😂) felt a bit short, but made it easier to stay focused under challenging conditions 😂😂😂

Bombardier25966 · 05/01/2019 11:18

@BlessThisMess You're not rubbish, you're practicing! One of the best things I've got from yoga is the ability to laugh at myself, and if you'd seen the way I flail about at times it's definitely needed 😊

DeadBod · 05/01/2019 11:53

I've not done today's yet as we're going walking this afternoon and I'll do the video afterwards.
I've not done yoga before and was a bit sceptical as to whether I'd enjoy it or not. I normally like a more energetic workout, such as running or gym classes, but this has surprised as I can feel the benefits of the stretching. I'm also more aware of my posture and have caught myself straightening up when I start to slouch.
I did it in my knickers and vest last night but the sight of my loose skin in downward dog was not a pretty sight Blush

qumquat · 05/01/2019 12:42

I'm behind so I've just done day three and really loved it. For the first time I felt my legs working. My back is very sore from all the sitting though.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 05/01/2019 12:44

Deadbod I made the mistake of doing day 1 in my pyjamas without a bra. I won't do that again! Blush

I am saving today's until later. I want my knees to recover from park run first.

CatherineCawood · 05/01/2019 12:47

Oh hello all. I'm in, day 4 today and feeling the benefits already. I run but rarely stretch properly so this is good for me. I found myself doing it at 11pm the other night worth it though. It's hard to find the time but I'm really making myself do it. I do get a few interruptions from the family but they are slowly learning......

chutneypig · 05/01/2019 13:03

GreenHatHacker I’ve been finding the same, neck and shoulders quite tense and I’ve been waking up with a headache, not sleeping well. I’d put it down to going back to work but your post made me wonder. I’m sure it’ll pass soon. Fingers crossed.

I loved Day 4. My legs were juddering like anything but really felt loosed up after parkrun this morning. I think today I feeel far more whole and connected after, with a nice glowy haze. I’m sure the supermarket will make that wear off later!

Today I'm back to doing it in the afternoon after a slow freezing morning. I had to grab a cushion for the lunges as my knees are feeling a bit banged up and bruised these last couple of days, I quite enjoyed the stretching out at the start and the later half more. .

Lollydaydream · 05/01/2019 13:39

Really enjoyed day 4, I found it a better pace and liked her cueing to take the hip crease back helpful- not one I'd heard before.

BlessThisMess · 05/01/2019 14:31

@Bombardier25966 Thank you! I know I will get better, and I don't mind too much being a beginner. I'm just a bit surprised at some of the things I can't do!

Hockneypool · 05/01/2019 14:34

Enjoyed day 4 too. Left knee needed extra padding for the lunges and I was a bit shaky in bridge. Felt good after cycling this morning.

Threesocks · 05/01/2019 14:44

Just done days three and four back to back as I didn't have time to practice yesterday. Loved day four, too much waffling in at the beginning of day three for me!!

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 05/01/2019 14:45

Ive been really unwell so only did day 1 and had to stop. Im so sad . I dont know whether to jump in when im better or try and catch up :(

RaininSummer · 05/01/2019 14:52

Just keep swimming - I haven't started either as I have a bug all week meaning I feel all hot and dizzy. I assume we can just start at number 1 when ready but I haven't looked to check yet.

PollyFlinderz · 05/01/2019 15:08

Day 4 done and dusted and I managed it really well. Did cheat though and grabbed the hem of my leggings to pull my leg forward at one stage.

itssquidstella · 05/01/2019 15:13

@daisychain01 A couple of years ago when I started practising, I couldn't get my leg all the way forward from downward dog into a lunge, and then one day I could. It really does get easier and you'll surprise yourself at how flexible you become without even realising it!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 05/01/2019 16:36

I did day 3 just before lunch today. Ashamed to say I didn't finish as was getting hungry and find tree pose so hard. I know it's the things I find hardest that I most need to practise, but today I just couldn't.
