Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Day 3 done. Enjoyed it, but it is a little slower than the classes I go to. Any yoga is good yoga though and it's nice not to have to leave the house. It's a shame there's no savasana at the end. If anyone else is missing this, if you search savasana on you tube there's a few nice 5 minute ones you can do as an add on.

I’ve done the 30 day programmes the past three years and I’m really struggling with the waffle this year. Maybe it’s having a baby, a business and little free time but if I’m squeezing in 30 minutes a day to do yoga (which I love) I want to be doing yoga not standing around listening to waffle.

At 15 mins in on day 3 I had only done a couple of cat/cows, a downward dog and a forward fold. I usually love my 30 days of yoga so I’m hoping it picks up some pace soon.

calamariqueen · 04/01/2019 19:59

It's enough yoga for me 😂 I'm not new, but haven't done any for the last 6 months since being back from maternity leave & I've suffered physically & mentally for it. Stamping "mine" on 30 minutes a day seems such a luxury!! The downward dog leg pulses were too much today, but I'm pleased I'm still tried. Will be interesting to see how I fit it in over the weekend...

StarJazmin · 04/01/2019 20:01

She got shut out of the room when she tried to curl up in my lap when I sat with straight legs

I finished the end of day 2 session with my chihuahua lying on my belly Grin

Finally got around the videos not working by streaming from my phone instead. Have had a very long day at work today, on the bus home now, and back in early tomorrow. Think it’s literally going to be home, yoga, eat some toast, bed for me. But having the yoga as a ‘must-do’ is so much better for me mentally than the alternative (collapse on sofa in front of tv with toast, probably fall asleep there cue waking up in an awkward position at 1am and a rubbish nights rest).

It’s nice doing it knowing everyone else is too. And getting a bit of a sneak preview for the thread. I love a good tree pose so looking forward now :-)

Day 3 done! All caught up now and leggings more effective than pj bottoms.
Waffle can be annoying, but like a pp said it’s when she waffles that I concentrate on my breathing and posture and I have to remind myself that I’m doing this for me and to just enjoy the moment. Can’t say I was enjoying the moment with the leg pulses though!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 04/01/2019 20:12

3 done, I'm really enjoying it.

Titsywoo · 04/01/2019 20:18

I had to miss yesterday so did day 2 today - I'm enjoying it. It could be faster but it's more relaxing this way which is part of what I wanted!

Habadabadoo · 04/01/2019 20:28

Day three done Smile

Espoleta · 04/01/2019 20:29

Day three done and honestly I really enjoyed it.
I totally tuned out the chit chat and focused on my breathing and posture. Felt super calm and focused this time.
I’ve also been sleeping better (that also could be the running).

Redpriestandmozart · 04/01/2019 20:38

Just about to start day 3 can I ask what do you watch your videos on? I usually use my tablet but as DH is out tonight I'm using the big TV and wow it makes such a difference :)

calamariqueen · 04/01/2019 20:47

Yes I stream from my phone to the TV, not sure I could manage with just phone 😳

PollyFlinderz · 04/01/2019 20:50

I usually use my tablet but as DH is out tonight I'm using the big TV and wow it makes such a difference smile

Thats it!!!!!! I can use my TV instead of my laptop.. Thank you so much Smile

PollyFlinderz · 04/01/2019 20:51

Ladylance - its a lovely feeling just a few days into something.

VioletCharlotte · 04/01/2019 20:54

If you've got a Now TV box connected to your TV there's a You Tube app on there.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 04/01/2019 21:00

I liked that one, but man alive I used to be good at tree pose

Not anymore

Talisin · 04/01/2019 21:02

TV for me. Currently use the Firefox browser on my Amazon Fire stick to stream it.

Redpriestandmozart · 04/01/2019 21:02

That's what I mean by the difference!

I do prefer the bigger screen but the tablet is easy to move around the mat when changing poses.

I'm thinking that the purpose of the rambling bits is because we're meant to be slowing down and focusing on form. I've got into bad habits but this is really making me look at how I'm doing things, not just hopping through at pace. The basic stuff is more challenging but that's a good thing if we're doing it properly Smile

coffeecow · 04/01/2019 21:20

Day Three done. My favourite one by far. Love a tree pose. I do understand what people are saying about the 'waffling' - it's ramped up a knot here this year but I'm very fond of her so it doesn't bother me. It's typical 'Adriene'.

Her email suggested tomorrow will be a bit faster paced.

GreenHatHacker · 04/01/2019 22:41

Done! I've had rotten headaches today though, wondering whether that's from neck & shoulder stress - has anyone else suffered?

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 04/01/2019 23:03

Day three done.

I found it quite easy today but I still can't do the lunge through from downward dog. My leg doesn't go that way.

I missed the lying down at the end though. I hope we get more of that.

PollyFlinderz · 05/01/2019 06:35

Just had a quick scroll through of today’s session and it’s doable (for me) floor work. Am feeling cheered. 😂

StarJazmin · 05/01/2019 06:58

I still can't do the lunge through from downward dog.

Im out of practice now anyway, but after >5 years of yoga - regular classes, home practice, a few retreats etc - I have NEVER been able to do this! I can do lots of twisty things and very open hip flexors, but that forward swing of the leg just doesn’t work for me - I think for short, curvy people there just isn’t enough room underneath us, the ground gets in the way (not my belly/thighs, lol, noooGrin) I just get as far as I can and shuffle the rest of the way. I find yoga a great tool for dealing with perfectionism. You do what you can. FWFG as Adriene would say.

Day 3 last night left me feeling very nicely stable and grounded, the difference between my last and first tadasana was immense. I slept very well and am up bright and breezy with time to spare this morning, going to crack on with Day 4 and switch to morning practice which is my usual preference.

StarJazmin · 05/01/2019 07:42

Reporting back from Day 4, nice gentle stretchy stuff, teensy bit of core work. If you have dodgy knees, definitely pad them out well for the first half. I have a thick folded blanket handy and using for any asana where my knee is on the floor makes life so much easier, I triple folded it for the lunge/twist bits today otherwise I wouldn’t have got through that long of weight bearing on it.

Namaste yogis 🧘🏻‍♀️

Mailfuckoff · 05/01/2019 08:24

Day 4 in the bag, all floor work and legs a bit wobbly now but glad I did it early
