Anyone else doing the 2019 Yoga with Adriene 30 day programme?

The details are here

do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate

It's free and the videos are posted on YT each day. You can sign up via the above link and you get a daily e-mail or via her YT channel.

I joined in for the first time in 2018 and loved it. The community of MNers to share experiences and provide encouragement kept me going to the end.

And I'm ...err ..not young! I'd only done a couple of yoga classes before but have continued an ad hoc basis since. I remember stiffly lowering myself to the floor on day 1 and feeling extraordinarily flexible about 14 days later. I'm hoping I can recover some of that this year!

Did it! I was completely exhausted after today and I wasn't sure about getting going, but I felt better as soon as I got my mat out, so glad I did. I enjoyed that one very much, can see myself returning to it when I want a practice to run through at home in the future.

daisychain01 · 03/01/2019 19:46

Glad you found the adaptations helpful (and hopefully giving you greater ease) @PollyFlanderz x

My favourite snippet today was actually right at the end during shavasana.

Let go and be held

That was a wonderful image of the baby giving such trust in being held.

Day 2 was more varied and definitely faster moving! How many planks per session Lol!

I liked the sequence with the lunge rising up to Warrior (I like Warrior and Triangle).

Tomorrow will be shorter do hopefully a lot easier for those with tight timescales. It is best not to have dinner beforehand if poss. I made the mistake once and had cramps so definitely avoid anything other than some toast and a cuppa, just to give me enough energy and not get low blood sugar which is the other extreme, Yoga is so deceptive, it does use up loads of energy!

calamariqueen · 03/01/2019 20:13

That was one hell of a progression from yesterday Confused I needed something after 1st day back at work today, but I'm not certain I can get up off the floor now!!

noimnottryingforagirl · 03/01/2019 20:14

Day 2 on the books as Adrienne says! Had to go semi plank with knees down abs just not up to it! Mood slightly ruined by DH coming in and " just quickly asking" about passwords to totally non urgent thing! He said oh just won't talk to you when u r yoga-ing in huff- yes don't bloody talk to me!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 03/01/2019 20:18

I woke up aching everywhere after day 1! I must be the un fittest person on mumsnet. Gonna do day 2 soon.

NoLeslie · 03/01/2019 20:19

I hate interruptions too! It's like butting in when someone is praying imo. Also makes me cross and very un Zen like!!!

GreenHatHacker · 03/01/2019 20:26

Day two done - had to take a couple of breaks just to puff & unwind muscles a bit, but kept going. Chuffed really, after 3 hrs sleep & a day at work, thought I might wimp out, but sure it will do me good :)

Espoleta · 03/01/2019 20:27

Day two done. I’m going to regret not doing half plank in the morning...
Hopefully tomorrow the waffle will start to ease off.

FranKubelik · 03/01/2019 20:37

Day two done here also. I need my glasses to watch the different positions but they fall off the minute I'm face down. Apart from that, I enjoyed it.

coffeecow · 03/01/2019 20:43

Day one done yesterday and day two today. Feeling great for it. I find planks so challenging, I have to really be firm with myself not to go into downward dog when planking!

Well done ladies - it's true what Adriene says: Getting on the mat is the mat is the hardest part!!

Samb79 · 03/01/2019 21:18

@habadabadoo day 1 done! After thinking I’d left my mat at work (and lots of other excuses) I found it tucked in a corner in my bedroom, dusted it off and got it done!

I’ve done a fair bit of yoga but have had a break for a month, and I really noticed the lack of flexibility that has crept in. She was a lot slower paced than some of her other videos but enjoyed it all the same. I feel a really intense relaxation the minute I step on my mat which sounds a bit naff but it genuinely feels different and I remember why I love yoga. Must not let life -excuses- get in the way!

I’ve set my alarm for the morning, going to do day 2 and catch up with day 3 in the evening 🙏

Namechangedtoprotect · 03/01/2019 21:26

Day 2 done. Walked into the house at 8pm after being at work since 7am and the first thing dh said was dinner before or after yoga. It was tough and I struggled at parts but I did it in one sitting

Frumpyfatand40ish · 03/01/2019 22:05

FranKubelik the image of your glasses falling off made me chuckle. I took mine off yesterday but wore them today and didn't feel very zenlike.

I found today's much harder, as I struggled to follow some of the moves towards the end. It's been a while since I did a yoga class, so I'm a little rusty. I think I'll feel my abs tomorrow. Which is good as it will mean that I've used them. Smile Didn't feel quite as floaty as yesterday, but had to stop twice to check on DD1 who wasn't asleep.

In contrast to some other posters, I like the waffly bit at the start - maybe I'm just lazy!

diymania · 03/01/2019 22:12

I’ve done day 1 and day 2. Amazingly found the time despite not really thinking I had the time. But had to do it straight after dinner which wasn’t the most awesome, but got it done though. Need to plan when I’ll do it for the future.

Both days quite waffly. But after day 1 I did fine myself thinking about how difficult and tiring different poses had been, which maybe I wouldn’t have noticed if there hadn’t been so much time building up to each one?

Day 2 was waffly to start with but seemed to get going very quickly. I did this last Jan and found she gave better instructions for the poses and built up to the poses requiring a bit of strength a bit more. I can do them, but they are challenging and I think I prefer her approach last year.

Looking forward to the shorter times too!

diymania · 03/01/2019 22:18

Lol reading that back it sounds like I’m contradicting myself! What I meant was day 1 there was lots of verbal waffle building up to actually going into the pose. For day 2 it was quick going into difficult poses, rather than a slower progression day on day to build up strength. I reckon I should just go to bed....not sure I’m making any sense/boring myself! 😂😴

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 03/01/2019 22:24

Done.

Pooped.

Bed

LadyLance · 03/01/2019 22:28

@stuffofawesome I was just responding to other posters wondering about how she makes her money- I have no problem with any of it, and didn't mean to come across as judgy. I certainly don't begrudge anyone making a living!

I really like the talking, actually. I find it sort of hypnotic, so when she starts asking me to do things like planks (which I can do, but usually don't like) I just go with it!

FiveNightsAtMummys · 03/01/2019 22:36

Enjoyed day 2 alot more than day 1

piglet81 · 03/01/2019 22:36

OK, day 2 was much harder! I also found it a bit tricky to follow and kept cricking my neck looking up to see if I was doing the right thing. But I can feel my muscles coming alive so it must be doing me good!

Talisin · 03/01/2019 23:02

Day two done. Woke up with vertigo this morning and have felt off all day so it was a struggle to motivate myself to get the mat out but I did it and feel a lot more relaxed as a result. Only reverted to half plank once as well. I’m sure I’ll feel this one tomorrow!

Littlebearcat · 04/01/2019 00:30

Apologies if this has already been asked/ answered. When do you all find time to do the practice? Last year u did it in the evening time, but very early morning suits better. If you are on schedule with her days, what time does each video get posted? Last year I started a few days behind so there was always some in reserve if I did an early
Morning.

Liked day 1 and 2 so far, I really don’t want to miss tomorrow!

Short Version:::::::: what time will day three be posted?

Talisin · 04/01/2019 00:36

6am UK time.

Littlebearcat · 04/01/2019 00:55

Super! Thanks Talisin... I best get to sleep now so. 🧘🏻‍♂️

PollyFlinderz · 04/01/2019 03:42

I also have problems with my glasses and when they do stay on my face they could be doing with built in windscreen wipers.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I can’t get to sleep at night at my usual time but when I do get to sleep I sleep longer. I do the session at 5.30 and I’m wondering if I need to be doing it much earlier in the day. I prefer my previous bedtime.

DonnaDarko · 04/01/2019 06:44

Good morning, what did everyone think of today's session? The warriors were killing my legs today, and my balance is so bad!!! Practice makes perfect :D
