The lady we know and love, who has brought us 30 Days Of Yoga, is starting a new series of sessions on YouTube from 1 January called .

This just might be the incentive I've been waiting for to establish a daily practice. Does anyone want to join me? Smile

You are very welcome, Expel & itonly. It is wonderful to do Yoga Camp with all of you.

I am sadly still on Day 4, but my knees are looking less battered today so will attempt 4 & 5 tomorrow. Well done to everyone going strong with the Yoga Camp Smile

Can I join in too? I've been lurking for a few days, done the first 3 vids and really enjoying it. I used to do yoga every week in my 20s but stopped going so regularly in my 30s, partly because of kids and partly because I couldn't find a class I liked. So glad to have found this thread and been introduced to this series - am much preferring practising at home to going to a class.

Interesting that lots of you practise in the morning - it's as much as I can do to haul myself out of bed to get the kids to school on time, let alone do a yoga session! I'm very much an evening yogi Wink

Just done 5. Does enayone else have real problems with positions where you are resting weight on your knee eg lunge/knee push ups etc? Even with a cushion I find it really painful maybe I should lose some weight

Musicianofbremen · 07/01/2016 07:29

Very nearly done 5. DS made
Me finish with 3 mins left. Must work on getting up before him.

Yes yes knees are/were killing. I also had to do the first bit on a block. It's funny how positions that feel easy in class are really hard when you have to hold them so long.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 07/01/2016 07:31

Bit of a struggle to drag myself out of bed in the dark to do day 5 but as always glad I did. Fairly wobbly lunges here Blush This is why I practice at home, as only people to see me fall over are my family...

CoteDAzur · 07/01/2016 07:41

Re knee pain - Please don't ignore painful knees. I think the general idea in yoga (any physical activity?) is that you should not be doing a pose if it causes you sharp pain.

There are a couple of self-diagnosis websites like this and this where you can have a general idea on what your knee pain is about.

If pain continues through the day: Rest, Elevate, and Ice.

To strengthen leg muscles that support the knees without moving the knee joint, do several wall sits of at least a minute through the day, whenever you can.

Thanks Cote.

I'm exaggerating. It's pain from the hard floor rather than actual proper joint pain.

I think I need to double up my mat during the long lunges.

maketheworldgoaway · 07/01/2016 07:58

I did 5 before bed last night. I was surprisingly wobbly by the end of some of the knee balancing poses. Harder than it looks!.

Looking forward to day 6 being released later.

CoteDAzur · 07/01/2016 08:04

Musician - That's good to hear. Sorry, I'm being a bit dramatic whenever I hear 'knee pain' because I have suffered with a surprising knee injury that came out of nowhere for quite a while.

In my case, Yoga fixed it Smile Strengthened leg muscles that support the knees and now I have no pain.

Day 5 - ouch. Is it just me or did she spend an eternity on the 2nd leg for that lunge/breathing sequence!! Either that or my left side is nowhere near as strong!

Good though - I feel this is just at the right level for me, enough to have a little challenge but nothing too scary after the Christmas break. Slowly seem to be more comfortable in plank and down dog, so my wrists and arms are getting stronger (noticeable in only 5 days!)

RubberDuck · 07/01/2016 08:48

missmodular: I study/work at home with secondary school age kids, so first thing in the morning once they've left for school is my only guaranteed quiet time :) Can totally see if you have younger children at home or if you need to do the school run, then evenings when they've gone to bed would be the most appropriate time.

Musicianofbremen · 07/01/2016 09:14

Thanks Cote. I run too so know the importance of thy knees Grin.

Incidentally it's amazing how beneficial yoga has been for my running. Definitely ache a lot less and hold myself up much better.

My arms are aching from all those half push ups now.

StillaChocoholic · 07/01/2016 09:16

Day 3 done, my 2 year old had a laugh at me whilst I was doing lions breath.
I might do day 4 this evening to try and catch up.

Expellibramus · 07/01/2016 12:19

Day 4 done, hi everyone!

quirkychick · 07/01/2016 12:31

Day 4 done. The cross-legged sitting was easier today.

I do it in the mornings as SAHM with dcs at school. It's my quiet time too. Was later than usual this morning as a flooring guy came to look at the kitchen floor first thing.

I'm too exhausted by the evening.

maketheworldgoaway · 07/01/2016 13:28

I was going to save day 6 for this evening till I saw it what it was and as I hate any type of abs work I thought I'd do it earlier to get it out of the way.

So didn't enjoy it but looking forward to tomorrow.

Day 4 completed - quite late in the day but at least it's done.

MagicalHamSandwich · 07/01/2016 22:49

Did day 6 today. I don't like abs workouts much even though I've got great abs and don't find them hard. It's just not something I enjoy at all.

Followed up with some yin style hip and hamstring work for some 45 minutes because my hips need some love badly. Didn't find this overly enjoyable either, mostly because I had trouble letting go and got bored. Not a great yoga day for me!

Talisin · 07/01/2016 23:32

Did 5 & 6 back to back this evening. I was rather dreading 6 after hearing the terrifying 'A' word but it was actually fine. Possibly this means I was doing it wrong or, more likely, that I'll wake up tomorrow and groan when I move.

I'm really enjoying this, which for exercise hating me is something of a breakthrough. Adriene clearly has magic powers!

Magic you are more than welcome to some of my excess arms - I can throw in some excess boobs as well if you'd like?

Musicianofbremen · 08/01/2016 06:37

Day 6 done.

I don't enjoy ab work either or repetitions.

Main thing is I managed to get up and do it before DCs woke up! My DS is sleeping so badly at the moment and not settling until really late so I badly needed some alone time.

Could be double yoga for me today if I go to my usual Friday class.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 08/01/2016 07:53

Ugh, just done day 6. I very much don't have 6 pack abs. Tried my best but not helped by audience of 9 yr old DS "but that's easy mum". (he does gymnastics and does have a six pack...).

Trying to take comfort from the fact that at least I've done some of it and that eventually my core strength will improve.

DC are now doing a Cosmic Yoga Kids video, I've given them my old yoga mat. They are very into it!

StillaChocoholic · 08/01/2016 08:55

Day 4 done, two days behind you guys I really need to catch up!
2 year old was laughing at me again when I did a massive trump, I'm so glad I don't go to a class haha

RubberDuck · 08/01/2016 09:09

Survived Day 6! I was worried about this one, but I managed it all.

Only problem is, with the shoulder and head raise ones, I always end up really uncomfortable in my neck, even with good neck hammock hands and focusing on lifting with abdominal muscles (not leading with the neck). Is this something that will improve as I get stronger, or am I doing something wrong with these?

(Also, was someone offering extra boobs, could use some of that!)

Musicianofbremen · 08/01/2016 10:18

rubberduck I find it helps to look at the ceiling or close my eyes so you are using your abs and not straining neck to look forward. HTH.

I whimped out of yoga class today and am watching Fraiser instead. So fed up of my DS not sleeping sleeping during the school run up all evening etc. Still worked out I have done 4 hours practise at home this week. Smile
