The lady we know and love, who has brought us 30 Days Of Yoga, is starting a new series of sessions on YouTube from 1 January called .

This just might be the incentive I've been waiting for to establish a daily practice. Does anyone want to join me? Smile

My alarm didn't go off this morning so I did day 3 this afternoon with my DC watching. The core work was tough, but hopefully I'll get stronger.

Also there was a satisfying crunch noise in my left hip as I settled in to savasana (sp?) and my lower back feels much better than normal.

cece · 05/01/2016 20:51

Day 3 done this evening - as had to go to work today Sad

I might go to a yoga class tomorrow as I have a day off work - should I do day 4 as well??

stardusty5 · 05/01/2016 20:59

Checking for day 4 here. A bot more dynamic which was new for me as i have always used yoga for relaxation before. It's nice to feel like it doesn't mater if you're a bit ahead or behind- just going with the flow!

Downward facing dog is definitely getting easier! Determined to get my heels on the floor. Did better at the head to knee than i though i would too.

Lumierelulu · 05/01/2016 22:06

Just did Day 4 and liked the flow. I've got an internal conflict going on between wanting to slow it down because it feels good to stay in poses a little longer, and wanting to speed it up because I'm used to doing more vinyasa flow style classes. How's the knee Cote? cece, you could always do your class then if you're a bit sore/tired you could take it easy with Adriene's Day 4? She gives plenty of options along the way, which is super. Enjoy your day off!

PixieChops · 05/01/2016 22:09

I'm only on day 2 because I did 2 hours on the 3rd at a class and did a class last night too. I quite like it as it helps me practise poses that I'm doing in class but now get the time to perfect. Just a quick question though, I'm finding I'm peeing loads after doing it, is this normal? Confused

Lumierelulu · 05/01/2016 22:25

Not noticed extra peeing after yoga camp pixie but I always need a wee after a yoga class. Think I read somewhere that working your core or lower abs can put slight pressure on your bladder and make you need a wee. Can't back that up with hard science though, sorry Grin

PixieChops · 05/01/2016 22:34

Reckon I've got cystitis actually. Oh great Hmmonly reason why I think I'd need to pee
every 40 mins

MagicalHamSandwich · 05/01/2016 22:38

Never had the peeing thing either but (TMI alert!) used to have regular constipation before taking up yoga. I now poo like clockwork. No idea what the science behind this is, whether it's something simply related to improved general health/fitness or if it's all in my mind. Frankly, as long as it keeps on working I don't necessarily need to know ...

Just finished day 4. Realised how much a regular practice pays off when I hovered in chaturanga while waiting for her to finish talking. Now feeling very, very chuffed! Grin

CoteDAzur · 05/01/2016 22:50

Well done, Magical Smile

I wish I had continued with yoga over the holidays. I'm quite horrified at how stiff & weak I am in comparison to where I was a months ago Shock

Day four done and dusted. Quite pleased with myself as I didn't think I'd have the energy after a 10 hour work day but actually, I found myself looking forward to it on the journey home. Have to say though, this was probably my least favourite day so far, I really don't enjoy sun salutations much. Partly due to the fact that my arms are too long to do cobra properly and I had no idea they were freakishly long until I took up yoga!

MagicalHamSandwich · 05/01/2016 23:14

It comes back quickly, Cote. Didn't completely stop over the holidays but I was working 14-hour days for most of them so never made it to class. I've been properly back on track (30mins to 1hr a day) for about a week and definitely seeing results already.

Talisin may I propose a mutually beneficial trade in which I get some extra arm from you? I can't get my palms on the floor in dandasana because mine are too short!

quirkychick · 06/01/2016 06:34

I didn't manage day 3 yesterday as I had a rubbish night's sleep and a really busy day. I thought an early night and sleep was a priority by yesterday evening. I have a fairly clear day today, so look forward to day 3. I embrace... the fact I didn't manage day 3 yesterday Wink.

I did restart my Headspace meditation, though and walked loads. My shoulders are quite tight still, so think I will feel better for a practice today. I stopped yoga from November, as dcs had bugs and we had my parents here, so literally no time or space for home practice.

I first started yoga aged 9 (35yrs ago!) when my parents did the Richard Hittleman's 28 day yoga book. I have done it on and off, but really need to do it more on than off! I am so less bendy now...

StillaChocoholic · 06/01/2016 07:32

I've not done yoga since about October so really needed to get back into it. I've done a couple of sun salutations every now and again but that's it. Did day 1 yesterday so I'm gonna get my butt up and do day 2 in a moment. Realised yesterday that my wrists seem to have got tighter but hopefully they'll improve fairly quickly once I'm practising regularly again.

RubberDuck · 06/01/2016 08:46

Day 4 done :)

quirky, I love Headspace! Are you new to it or have you been using the app for a while? I used it for about a year and a half before I felt confident meditating silently on my own and thought it was so well structured (Andy has a lovely voice too, which helps Grin).

quirkychick · 06/01/2016 10:51

RubberDuck I started Headspace last January but left off part way through the anxiety pack before winter bugs and Christmas sent everything to shit! I have restarted the pack as I was in too much of a muddle. I have just done another Headspace after Day 3.

I have not only got tight upper back and hamstrings, my hips are really tight too. I feel more stretched out and floppies now. I need to tackle some washing and put the slow cooker on. I'm still struggling with sleep deficit so trying to bribe myself into doing stuff round the house.

MagicalHamSandwich · 06/01/2016 10:56

Ah, yes, that floppy feeling. Definitely one of my favourite parts of the day! Smile

Expellibramus · 06/01/2016 11:44

Day 3 done, thanks Cote, I wouldn't have found this if you hadn't posted this thread Flowers

Musicianofbremen · 06/01/2016 12:05

Day 4 done. Such a struggle to get out of bed this morning but it's always worth it.

opioneers · 06/01/2016 12:20

Day two done, 50 minutes, blimey. I am trying to make yoga my top priority for this month, but I am writing that down so I can't go back on it too easily!

itonlygetsbetter · 06/01/2016 12:49

Hi everyone.
I will do day 4 tomorrow.
I have done a yoga class today and I don't think I can manage both.
Thanks Cote - this thread is really helping to motivate me and is encouraging me to keep going.

badhairallthetime · 06/01/2016 16:55

MagicalHamSandwich I'm a (recently qualified) yoga teacher and pooing more regularly than before is probably not in your mind - certain yoga poses, particularly twists, but anything where you compress the digestive organs, can stimulate the digestive system. You squish it all, and then when you release, it gets everything moving. I sometimes teach a 'digestive system' sequence where we focus on lots of twists. My teacher who created this particular sequence always used to say "you might need to give yourself a few minutes extra in the bathroom later/in the morning!".

MagicalHamSandwich · 06/01/2016 17:49

That makes a lot of sense, badhair. Brilliant username, by the way, I can relate!Grin

Just out of the office. Ready for day 5. Anyone done it yet?

I did a yoga class today so I am going to wait and do day 4 tomorrow. Feeling a bit achy today especially after today's class. Although I think the extra practice is helping. My head touched my leg today in seated forward fold. Grin
