What job were you in when you were half your current age?

I was in six form

I was a midwife and also pregnant with my second child.

Just started the job I’m still in now (NHS) 22 years ago. I’m 44 now.

22, finishing my degree and working in a call centre.

Software tester and technical writer.

Just started my 34 year career as a dietitian. 3 and a half more years until I can retire. I have loved every bit of it (apart from a few dickheads)

I was a teacher in London.

Just starting in my career in HR. Still in the profession, just a bit more senior, lol

I’m 44. At 22, I was doing my final year at uni followed by working at a cashier in a bank, 8 weeks after I finished.

Same job, same country, different city, different company.

I was in a similar job - same sector, different specific desk (slightly different direct policy area) and different grade.

Second year student nurse with a P/T job in retail. And on placement too. I don’t know how I did it!

I was 15; I was working (very illegally) long shifts in a takeaway kiosk on a holiday resort. It was the best job, paid a bomb, I'd start at 9am and work through til 1am in the holidays and made so much money. The owners were loaded; I was given a designer bracelet for my 15th birthday while working there. Good memories.

I was teaching English in Turkey. 24 years later after a corporate IT career im back to teaching but a professional IT qualification.

I was working in a restaurant/bar while attending university. It was relentlessly busy and one of the most stressful but also most fun job I ever had.

I was just about to start the job that would change my life. I applied on a whim, after being treated like shit by current employer, got it and I had no idea at the time what it would mean. I still feel very lucky.

Doing very similar job in accounting to my current role, although it was full-time then and part-time now.

Second year of uni and working at Tesco in the holidays!

Boring. Door to door sales, telephone sales, call centre, international sales in the end. And forgot how old I was, but in my 20s

Just before leaving the country, did ebay sales as well

I was backpacking around Australia at 28. Had done a job in IT for years and just quit. Been teaching 25 years now.

I was temping for the civil service. Most cushy job I ever had!

I worked at the Early learning centre, I was at college and it still is best job I ever had! I loved all the children coming in and on a Tuesday we had a craft morning… great memories!

I was in sixth form and had 3 part time jobs. Cleaner at the school I attended, worked in a pet shop, and a child minder 🫠
