Is it weird if coworkers see you naked?

And before you come at me... I mean at the gym.

My company got a very good membership deal with a gym across the road from the office. I am 2 years pp and I am starting to want to lose the baby weight (I can't use the "I just had a baby" excuse any more!!).

So we got a week trial before signing up and I planned to go on my lunch break, run for a bit and do some strenght training, stretching etc. I only get 1 hour lunch so I want to fit in about 40 mins exercise and some time to get changed and return. I can then eat lunch at my desk while I work.

Here is my issue... If many of my coworkers sign up to go to the gym, I will have to get changed while some of them are there at the same time. I have only been at this job for 2 months so it's not like we are buddies. I am still quite reserved at the office. I don't have issues with my body, but I cringe a bit on the idea that people I see every day would have seen me naked. I do need to change all my clothes down to my underwear. I could change at the provate cubicles, but I usually juct change in front of my locker to save time.

So what does everyone think??

I would definitely get changed in the private cubicles

MILTOBE · 14/03/2024 14:08

Just go into the cubicle!

daisypond · 14/03/2024 14:09

Obviously you just use the cubicles if you’re concerned. I wouldn’t get changed in a public area.

GrumpyPanda · 14/03/2024 14:10

I wouldn't give a flying fuck. That's assuming you are talking about your female co-workers. They'll be there to dress and undress and maybe shower, same as you.

ManchesterBeatrice · 14/03/2024 14:10

Cubicle! But then I would say that even if i didn't know anyone!

Strugglingtodomybest · 14/03/2024 14:12

I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm changing in communal areas, I make sure not to look at anyone else anyway.

Yes female changing rooms

How much time are you saving by changing a few feet away from a cubicle?

DSD9472 · 14/03/2024 14:14

As above- how much time are you saving by not going to a cubicle? I always use them- even when there is no one I know!

ru53 · 14/03/2024 14:14

I can’t do communal changing rooms even with strangers let alone colleagues! Wish it didn’t bother me but it does. Nope, imagine having a serious professional meeting with someone a half hour after them seeing you naked. When I went to a gym I used to at least put my underwear on in the shower cubicle then get fully dressed in the communal area.

VillageOnSmile · 14/03/2024 15:54

If you are in your underwear, you’re not naked.
But dressed like you would on the beach in a bikini.

But the simplest solution is to use the cubicles.

Platedshoes · 14/03/2024 15:56

I wouldn't be walking around naked, but I could live with a quick change with a towel covering most of it.

OhItsOnlyCynthia · 14/03/2024 16:02

Use a cubicle or master the old Southend shuffle with your towel covering you from pits to knees. Using a cubicle when you haven't before isn't exactly a big change of lifestyle that you need to plan in advance anyway, just do whatever.

MrsVino · 14/03/2024 16:04

I don’t get why you wouldn’t just use a cubicle. Sounds like you’re making a bit of a meal about it. 🙄

TheFlis · 14/03/2024 16:08

Take a bag for life with you. Undress putting your stuff in that. Put in locker. When you’re done, grab bag and take to cubicle with you to get dressed.

SirChenjins · 14/03/2024 16:11

Cubicle definitely - it’s only a few feet away

Catsandcuddles · 14/03/2024 16:13

When I worked in the city I used to go to the gym on my lunch break, I was pressed for time so didn't always have time to wait for a cubicle. I used to take in a large bath towel which covered my modesty, and really not much was on show. It's not like you would be strolling around the changing rooms completely naked, people find a corner or discreet about it.

EarthbarsforMartians · 14/03/2024 16:16

Get a changing robe? So a towel but in a big poncho shape

This!!!

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 14/03/2024 16:22

I wouldn’t worry about seeing a colleague naked but would be confused about why they would choose to get changed in a public area rather than a cubicle. I would think that they were an exhibitionist.

EnragedHobbyist · 14/03/2024 16:30

I’m ex military. I have literally shared showers with colleagues. So I think you’ll be fine doing a quick change at the gym.

DaxTornado · 14/03/2024 16:32

I have to get changed at work. There are no cubicles!

Why are you looking at others getting dressed anyway?

Its no worse than going to the beach and if you need a shower and to change underware then get a big poncho towel, take underware to the shower or use a cubicle. It doesn't need stressing over.

PiggieWig · 14/03/2024 16:34

I never bother with cubicles at the gym and I have far from a gym body. I use a big towel though and generally keep my boobs and bum covered. I don’t parade around in the buff.
i wouldn’t be bothered about colleagues seeing me in my towel.

Randomsabreur · 14/03/2024 16:35

It's not so much the location of the cubicle as the number of cubicles Vs other spaces. We have about 6 cubicles for changing Vs space for 30 people on the benches under the lockers, so clearly most use the bench spaces!

Justleaveitblankthen · 14/03/2024 16:35

But if it's anything like my Gym, there is only 1 solitary cubicle, slap bang in the centre of the room.
You draw more attention to yourself going in and out to be honest.

Even the 'quiet bit' at the back is right by the toilets, so 23 hundred women (& some undeterminable gender) saunter through every minute 🤨
