Is it weird if coworkers see you naked?

And before you come at me... I mean at the gym.

My company got a very good membership deal with a gym across the road from the office. I am 2 years pp and I am starting to want to lose the baby weight (I can't use the "I just had a baby" excuse any more!!).

So we got a week trial before signing up and I planned to go on my lunch break, run for a bit and do some strenght training, stretching etc. I only get 1 hour lunch so I want to fit in about 40 mins exercise and some time to get changed and return. I can then eat lunch at my desk while I work.

Here is my issue... If many of my coworkers sign up to go to the gym, I will have to get changed while some of them are there at the same time. I have only been at this job for 2 months so it's not like we are buddies. I am still quite reserved at the office. I don't have issues with my body, but I cringe a bit on the idea that people I see every day would have seen me naked. I do need to change all my clothes down to my underwear. I could change at the provate cubicles, but I usually juct change in front of my locker to save time.

So what does everyone think??

I used to have to get changed at work and there was no cubicle so from day one we were all changing in front of each other (women only).

You just don't stare at each other and to be honest I got used to it pretty quickly.

I think we can assume it's not like that since OP mentions 'cubicles' and no reason for not using them other than to save time.

Yes sorry but this. It's really a non issue, it would take about 5 seconds to walk to a cubicle.

There are only 2 cubicles and I am on a timer, that's why

We had a gym at my old work and the admin lady used to stride around naked.

I did find it awkward being interviewed for her by a promotion knowing I'd seen her pubes, tbh.

I'm confused as to whether you're naked, ie no clothes at all, or in your underwear now OP, posters are talking about both. Could you clarify?

Are you showering after your work out OP? Your post seems to suggest not and that is a far bigger issue than where to change.

If there's no cubicle free just get changed quickly. I guarantee no one will be looking at you.

But to answer the original question, I guess it depends on where you are - in the UK its probably a bit weird, in my country it would be quite normal to sit in the sauna naked with your co-workers so I don't even think twice about getting changed in front of other people now

Beyond weird and I would never, ever allow that. Find a different gym or shower after work.

I'd put a big towel round me when I got out of the shower and keep my back to the room while getting changed under it. TBH this is one reason I use the branch of our gym nearer home after work instead of the one opposite work at lunchtime, I like my colleagues but would rather work out, shower, change completely by myself.

I'd change in the main area if I was just out of shower, still had towel wrapped around me.
That way I could put on underwear at least with the towel covering me so I wouldn't be flashing all my bits to Julie in accounts.

I wouldn't be completely bare and open (not confident enough for that!!) - if no towel then I'd wait for a cubicle.

If you don't want people to see you naked get changed in a cubicle.

And no it's not normal usually for co workers to see you naked.

Just go on the cubicles or cover yourself with a towel

I have found people react differently in the gym - its like a separate zone! I also had this situation and was worried but stopped worrying when I saw no one else from the office who was in the gym cared about changing in front of each other. I couldn't be bothered to fo the whole poncho changing thing either, it's not like Sue from accounts will say "noticed you looking a bit more flabby than usual at the gum" as you start your meeting.

I had a friend who used to work / live in Germany, and they used to go to the sauna as a team: all naked 😱😱😱 including the boss.

Just get showered and changed at home? I never use the changing rooms at the gym

This is exactly what I would do and have had to do in the past.

Have a shower, then wrap a towel around you when getting out.

Then put your knickers and bottoms on under the towel and then your bra and top.

You will barely be flashing any skin and they definitely won’t see you naked.

I assume it’s at lunch time if her coworkers will be there too and why OP needs to change her bra and knickers.

If not, then I agree definitely just do it at home.

In my undies? No. Naked? Yes. But male & female staff have to get changed in the staff kitchen on my ward.

In your situation I'd use cubicles until you get more comfortable with them, esp if there is any power dynamic involved.

There’s only two cubicles at my gym and everyone just gets undressed (quickly), wraps in a towel, heads into a shower, dries off in the shower and then gets dressed in the main area.

I tend to put knickers on under towel and then drop it to put my bra on. Bottom half on clothing on, deodorant on, top on.

No one is looking at anyone else - so much angst from so many over a possible glimpse of <shock> flesh!
