I am afraid we bring very sad news. There are no words really to describe her shattering loss, the wonderful Mumsnetter GoJetterGirl’s beautiful seven year old son has died following two years suffering with cancer. Life has been so utterly cruel to him, to his family and friends, to all who love and will miss him. We are so so sorry. GoJetterGirl’s thread is here and we know many of you supported her on there through until his devastating death on February 25th. We are so very sorry and send so much love Thanks

We are so pleased that the lovely GoJetterGirl accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love in every stitch and we hope lots of warmth, comfort and memories for his little brother too. We hope that many of you who have already supported on her thread will be able to help make this blanket. Many thanks to @NoWordForFluffy for all her help.

We shall need donors of yarn, funds and crafters. Can you help us? We know that many are away or on summer breaks, so provisionally we are setting a last posting date of Monday 21st September

I couldn't read a thread like this and not help but thank you for the compliment Smile

I've put my wool order in so once it arrives ill get cracking. Do we have a posting date? I'm shielding for the next four weeks as I'm finally getting an op I've been waiting for but DH can do a post office run for me.

Whatsthatbrightlght · 06/08/2020 10:09

I’m just finishing a square for a previous hug but count me in for this one x

TreeWitch · 06/08/2020 10:20

Would love to make a square or 2 for this blanket, off to search my wool stash.

I have not made a woolly hug for a while is there a stitch count for a knitted 6” square?

MadisonAvenue · 06/08/2020 10:26

Bearfrills I hope all goes well with the op x

Bearfrills · 06/08/2020 10:33

I'm not 100% convinced it won't get cancelled again but hopefully it'll go ahead.

KnottyAndPistey · 06/08/2020 10:45

@AnneShirleysNewDress

I can't knit and I'm only starting to learn to crochet but would be happy to help with yarn for GoJetterBoy. Is this colour any good?
That looks perfect, thank you - a simple granny square would be wonderful you know?

Yes, two weeks before then a covid test on the Saturday, operation on the Monday, and two weeks after. Normally I'd have to arrive at 7am for the morning list but to cut down on the length of time spent in the hospital I only have to get there an hour before my spot. I'm fairly nervous about the GA but I'll be in good hands, just got to trust them to do their thing.

I followed Gojetters story for a while now, I'm a terrible knitter, but would love to donate some wool or buy some for another crafter. I can sew and embellish if that is of any help, but I cannot knit a square! My mum and grandma tried to teach me for many years and have declared it an impossible task!

Please let me know how I can donate or help at all.

TheNinjaGooseIsHooking · 06/08/2020 11:22

I'm in, away to pm now. Sending love to GoJetterGirl and her family

KnottyAndPistey · 06/08/2020 11:39

We already have donors to thank. Thanks

Honestly donations mean so much, we always want to be inclusive, for everyone to join in if they would like to, and some folk just wouldn't be able to afford to. Your kind donations make it possible, we really are so grateful. Thanks

Thanks @BananaChocolateLump Star

Thanks @2018SoFarSoGreat

You are both simply wonderful, thank you xxx

This is amazing, thank you - would you like to have a crafter and send yarn directly to them?

SyntheticPumpkin · 06/08/2020 11:45

I’d like to join in, and can do a couple of basic squares

Costacoffeeplease · 06/08/2020 11:52

I’ve got some of the colours in my stash so I’ll do some squares

Angelnix · 06/08/2020 12:21

If that is easier, absolutely! Match me up with someone who needs yarn and I will liaise with them directly x

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 06/08/2020 13:50

You know, trying to find a decent green in the yarns suggested is next to impossible!!

The only one that's even close is the King Cole Teal - I did toy with the idea of the Mildew or the Sage but they looked so DULL!

Is teal acceptable, please? @KnottyAndPistey
Thank you :)

EasilyDelighted · 06/08/2020 13:58

I'll crochet Flowers

KnottyAndPistey · 06/08/2020 14:14

@ThumbWitchesAbroad The green in the drops is lovely. It doesn’t look good in their pic. Are you looking for a grassy green?

OP posts:
ellendegeneres · 06/08/2020 14:31

Please may I donate? @gojettergirl and gojetterboy have been in our hearts following them for so long.
I can’t knit, but to donate in any way I can I would love to help. I love woolly hugs and I’m sure the family will treasure their blanket

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/08/2020 14:35

Utterly heartbreaking news - I am so, so sorry to hear this.

I can definitely do squares for this - is it OK if I wait to send the squares for the other two blankets, and send them all together, @KnottyAndPistey?

Angelnix · 06/08/2020 21:11

We have a wonderful wool shop in our town, which greens are you looking for? I'll pop in there and see what they have or if they can order in (sorry, am a bit clueless with yarn, I need specifics!)
