I'm afraid we bring very sad news. Inaminutenow’s beloved husband died in February, he had been suffering from cancer. Such devastating news, we are so sorry that life has been so cruel. Our love and thoughts are with her and their family. There is no separate thread, Inaminutenow has been posting in the very supportive thread for Mumsnetters whose husbands have cancer. Love and strength to them all X

We have offered to make Inaminutenow a blanket to show our love and support and to offer what comfort we can, and we are delighted to say she has accepted.

So we are asking for help once again Sad Thanks

We will need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) I will co ordinate and Knotty (KnottyLocks) will help you with any crafting queries you may have. Sincere heartfelt thanks. Thanks

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM me (RatherBeOnThePiste) with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, I can help you with all of it.

Thank you so much Thanks

The Yarn we are Using….

  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (discontinued but some still around)
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
  • Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK (also discontinued, some still to be had)
  • Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK Just from the brands listed please because we know they combine for wash and wear.

The Colours
Greens, blues and purples
Silver
Cream but please choose one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, James C. Brett Pure Merino DK no 7 or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Inaminutenow’s DH was a proud Welshman, so ideas there.
He loved his job, dealing with access to the countryside, footpaths, bridle ways etc. He was involved in creating a Coastal Path, so sea and countryside themes, birds, flowers, stars etc.
We have the family’s initials if this is something anyone would like to do, please PM.

Please don't feel daunted by these suggestions, we love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and play a vital role in the overall effect.

Squares to be 6 inches, using 4mm hook or needles. All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Our Crafting Guide is a good place for support, and previous blankets can be seen on our website too.

When finished please sew in those ends but don’t block your work. Then PM me (RatherBeOnThePiste) for details for posting.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support

Thinking of Inaminutenow, her beloved DH, their family and friends.

Pistey and Knotty Thanks

Thanks All x

I'll help if someone can donate wool :)

BellaVita · 13/03/2014 19:57

Do we know when the final posting date will be?

Am on my second square which is going better size wise than the first... I did an afghan square which when I did my first chain stitches measured 6" but it seems to have grown to 7" by the blummin end.... Second is a granny which I am finding is behaving itself Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/03/2014 21:10

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/03/2014 11:23

Is there anyone who can offer initials? Have some on the way, but would like a few others if possible.

If so could you PM me please, thank you so much X

Thumbwitch · 15/03/2014 13:53

Have had notification that my wool order is PARTLY on its way - I'm hoping that the second part won't be too far behind it! Pistey, could you please let my crafter know that it's only a part order? Thank you very much Thanks

yegodsandlittlefishes · 15/03/2014 15:40

I haven't done any initials yet. I could have a go. I'm just looking for the link to crocheted initials (i have some I need to do for another blanket, so assuming they go well I could do some for inaminutenow after that.)

RahRahRasputin · 15/03/2014 15:58

I'm a bit late to this but could do a square in blue or silver, will have to double check what I've got in my wool bag. Sorry I'm not experienced enough to do initials or anything like that x

Somersaults · 15/03/2014 17:38

Are there still patterns on the Woolly Hugs site? They're not jumping out at me if they're there. I've done a square that is supposed to be waves but I'm not convinced! I'm just looking for more ideas and Ravelry has been uninspiring so far.

RahRahRasputin · 15/03/2014 18:02

Somersaults if you go to the crafting guide page, there's links down the side to crochet and knitting patterns (the pictures are the links, it took me a while to work it out first time round!) :)

BIWI · 15/03/2014 18:06

Oh, I missed this thread. I'm really sorry to read this Sad

WoolPixie · 16/03/2014 18:36

Am happy to give initials a go Pistey if you like. Have the lovely sage green and cream you sent, I have made a square in each so far so plenty left.

Zhx3 · 16/03/2014 22:50

Glad I found this thread again. I realised I hadn't had a dispatch confirmation from the supplier, so glad to see the wool has arrived - phew!
