We recently heard the tragic news that CritterPants’ son James died on the evening of the day he was born following devastating complications. There is no separate thread, Critter has been a rock to so many on the Conception TTC 10+++ thread, she still is, and is being supported there. Our thoughts are with James, Critter, her DH, their families and friends. Please do use this thread for messages to the family.

We have offered to make a blanket and lovely Critter has said she is so grateful and moved that we would do this kind and generous thing and that it means the world to her and her DH. Bless her heart. We hope that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can.

Thanks

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us? ?

Knotty ( KnottyLocks ) will help with any crafting queries. All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts. Please do PM Knotty if you need help.

If you would like to donate wool or funds, I can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, I can help there too.
Please PM me with your offers of help ( RatherBeOnThePiste)

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info such as help with buying colours, recommended online retailers and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for patterns. Squares to be 6 inches, using 4mm hook or needles.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs/@MNWoollyHugs which are both good ways to keep in touch.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support

Hello Bella Smile

I think the Sea blue is brighter than you think it might be...

have a look here

The grey is fine. I'm having a think about the blue.

IsaacHuntyChops · 11/02/2014 20:13

Knotty, gosh that looks a totally different colour to what I thought it looked like on the Deramores site. Yes, too bright, not right at all.

ScienceRocks · 11/02/2014 20:37

Just started knitting and would love to contribute. How?

HoggyTruffle · 11/02/2014 20:47

Such sad news. I will make some squares.

KnottyLocks · 11/02/2014 20:50

ScienceRocks, the details are in the OP. Basically, you can knit a 6" square of any design you like, as long as you use one of the yarns we have specified, in the colours we've listed Smile

Hi everyone,

Lovely raydown pointed me to this thread today. I have just read through and I am totally overwhelmed. I don't know how to thank you all, apart from just to say I feel very lucky indeed. The kindness, compassion and generosity you all are showing me and my husband is pretty mind-blowing. Thank you so very, very much. I am just so incredibly grateful that so many people would reach out to do such a lovely, thoughtful and comforting thing for us, in honour of our little guy. He drew forth so much love from me and MrC, but he also showed us how much deep love we are surrounded by. He was a beautiful blessing and I am grateful I had the chance to be his mum.

spacefrog I remember your precious son Idris from the January due date thread, where I lurked throughout my pregnancy (I was too shy to join, as a long-time TTCer). I am so, so sorry that you lost him - he sounded like a very special child, a strong and courageous little heart. You must miss him terribly. Sending you so much love and hugs.

fanjodisfunction I'm so sorry that you lost your baby too. It's something nobody should have to go through. Thinking of you.

Thank you to all of you - woolly hugs knitters/crocheters, 10++ers, and those who don't 'know' me but have still reached out to send words of comfort on this thread to a family you have never met. You are all wonderful, and it means so much to me and my husband.

Flowers Flowers Flowers

fanjodisfunction · 11/02/2014 21:58

Critter, you are a person with a kind and generous heart to think of others in a time of personal grief. Every stitch i crochet i shall think of you, your family and little james.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/02/2014 22:43

Knotty - do,you remember what the red was that you sent me (I can't find the ball band) - is it the right one for this thread? And if not, could you send me a bit of an contrast one for the flower, please?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/02/2014 22:43

Huge hugs for you lovely Critter we are all thinking of you and your beautiful James X

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/02/2014 22:45

SDTG - the red you have is the red we are using Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/02/2014 22:46

Just away to PMs Thanks

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/02/2014 22:57

Thanks, Knotty - I will get knitting (it will make a nice change from crochet). Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/02/2014 23:50

Hopefully all PMs have been replied to now. It really has been an overwhelming response. Such an out pouring of love and compassion for Critter and her family. Heartfelt thanks to everyone.

Thinking of their beautiful James tonight. Thinking of them all x

Thanks
WildEyedAndCrafty · 12/02/2014 04:45

Thinking of you Critter, MrC and of course your beautiful son James. So very sorry for your loss.

Knotty Either of Drops denim blue or grey blue any good for this blanket?

Will PM Pistey.

MasterFlea · 12/02/2014 06:35

I had a root through my stash and found some DB cashmerino in Teal, Ultramarine, duckegg and Airforce. Would these colours be okay?

KnottyLocks · 12/02/2014 07:21

Much love to you and yours, Critter. Big, gentle hugs.
Thinking of James x

KnottyLocks · 12/02/2014 07:22

WildEyed, both of those colours are fine.

KnottyLocks · 12/02/2014 07:26

MasterFlea, I'd go for the darker warmer shades, so maybe the airforce. The teal can 'pop' a bit alongside others, so maybe avoid that if possible .

SuperNappy · 12/02/2014 07:28

Signing in. What a devastating thing to happen :( :(

Would like to do a square. Will pm about donor wool.

MasterFlea · 12/02/2014 07:34

Thanks for your help Knotty. I will be able to do 2 squares for sure now.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 12/02/2014 07:44

Morning.

All PMs replied to. Huge thanks to everyone and welcome to all the new crafters and donors joining us. If you need any help, please do ask.

Thanks
lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 12/02/2014 08:20

Morning all, Another 10+er popping in. I would love to contribute so will PM now. Critter you know how incredibly sorry I am for you and mrC. It's too devastating.

To the wooly organisers, I think this is a lovely idea. I didn't know about it, til ray mentioned it. Making something for someone is a really natural way of showing love and compassion so I am very grateful you are here, and also happy that you are all showing the-critter-family love and sympathy.
